In a match where neither team was able to gain a sizeable lead, Bengal Warriors and Gujarat Fortunegiants played out a 25-25 tie.

Gujarat Fortunegiants overcame a narrow first-half deficit to secure a 25-25 tie against Bengal Warriors in the latter’s first home match at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday. Rohit Gulia put on an exceptional second-half showing and scored five raid point without being tackled even once. Skipper Maninder Singh top-scored for the hosts with 9 raid points to his name.

Maninder Singh’s two-point raid started things off well for Bengal Warriors and helped them maintain early pressure on Gujarat Fortunegiants. However, Gujarat Fortunegiants struck back by sending him to the bench in his third raid and then levelling the scores through young raider Sonu Jaglan.

It remained a neck-and-neck battle after that with Bengal Warriors’ raiders giving them a lead and Gujarat Fortunegiants drawing level through Sachin and their defence. Jeeva Kumar’s tackle on More G B in the 13th minute followed by Maninder’s touch on Gujarat Fortunegiants skipper Sunil Kumar helped Bengal Warriors open up a three-point lead. But a Sonu Super Raid took care of three main Bengal Warriors defenders in Jeeva, Rinku Narwal and Mayur Shivtarkar and put the pressure back on the home team.

Bengal Warriors showcased their defensive might from there by sending Sachin and More G B to the bench in successive Gujarat Fortunegiants raids to take a 15-13 lead going into halftime.

Rohit Gulia started the second period off on a positive note for Gujarat Fortunegiants, putting in three successful raids in quick time. He got able support from Sachin and the duo did not allow Bengal Warriors’ defence any easy points which eventually gave helped their team get the lead four minutes into the half.

Sukesh Hegde was brought in by Bengal Warriors and immediately found success in his second raid. Baldev also took down Sachin in the 7th minute to give Bengal Warriors their first tackle point of the half and help them equalise at 19-19.

Guila kept the scoreboard ticking for Gujarat Fortunegiants but Hegde and Mohammad Nabibakhsh made sure the home side were never too far behind in the contest. This enabled Bengal Warriors to draw abreast with a minute left in the match through Maninder’s two-point raid.

Gulia came in for the final raid of the match but neither team took any chances and chose to settle for a 25-25 tie.

Mohammad Nabibakhsh contributed all-around as he scored 3 raid points to go with his High 5. But the star of the show for Bengal Warriors was skipper Maninder Singh who scored 17 raid points and helped his team overcome Pawan Sehrawat’s 19-raid point effort. Bengal Warriors raced ahead in the opening minutes through their captain Maninder Singh, who put in four successful raids, including a two-pointer, without being tackled even once. However, he got Super Tackled by Ankit in the 7th minute to put Bengaluru Bulls in the lead at 7-8. Mohammad Nabibakhsh’s unsuccessful Do-or-Die raid followed by Rohit Kumar’s successful one then helped Bengaluru Bulls open up a four-point advantage. But Sukesh Hegde took out Mahender Singh in a Do-or-Die raid and followed it up with another successful two-point Do-or-Die raid to tie the scores at 12-all Maninder then managed a touch on Ajay before Bengal Warriors completed an All-Out three minutes before the half ended by tackling Sumit Singh, taking a one-point lead in the contest. They hung on to that lead going into halftime as the scores favoured them 16-15. The ‘Hi-Flyer’ started the second period in style for Bengaluru Bulls with a Super Raid, before Saurabh Nandal extended their lead by sending Hegde to the bench. Sehrawat then put in three back-to-back successful raids which eventually inflicted the All-Out on Bengal Warriors, opening up a seven-point lead for Bengaluru Bulls. Sehrawat brought up his Super 10 soon after Bengal Warriors reassembled and Bengaluru Bulls’ defence helped the team take control of the match by sending the dangerous Maninder to the bench. However, Bengal Warriors managed to tackle down Sehrawat in his next two raids and then brought the score difference down to four through Nabibakhsh and Maninder in attack. With a quarter of the contest still to be played, Nabibakhsh showcased his all-round ability with a successful tackle on Sehrawat which brought up his first vivo Pro Kabaddi High 5, while Maninder and Hegde’s raids added up to another All-Out on Bengaluru Bulls and put Bengal Warriors back on top at 32-31. Maninder and Sehrawat matched each other point-for-point from there but Bengal Warriors pulled off back-to-back tackles on Sehrawat and Rohit Kumar in Bengaluru Bulls’ final two raids to help their team claim victory. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Haryana Steelers beat U Mumba to leapfrog them in standings Vikash Kandola’s 9 raid points helped Haryana Steelers overcome U Mumba 30-27. Haryana Steelers held their nerve through a close contest to register a narrow 30-27 win over U Mumba at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Vikash Kandola played a starring role for Haryana Steelers with 9 raid points, including a couple of crucial points in the closing stages of the contest. U Mumba started brightly thanks to an early tackle by Harendra Kumar that sent Haryana Steelers’ dangerman Kandola to the bench. Arjun Deshwal then got in on the action with a successful two-point raid. Haryana Steelers, though, fought back as Kandola returned to the mat and executed a Super Raid to put his side into a 5-4 lead. The Season 2 champions responded with a two-point raid by Athul MS to retake the lead as both sets of raiders dominated the first 10 minutes of the contest. Just as it looked like Haryana Steelers were edging towards inflicting an All-Out, U Mumba’s Sandeep Narwal came up with a Super Tackle. However, Sandeep’s contribution merely delayed the inevitable as Haryana Steelers went on to enforce an All-Out on U Mumba and take a 13-8 lead. The first half came to a close with Haryana Steelers very much on top as their defenders also began to grow into the contest. They took a 16-8 lead into the break and ensured that U Mumba would start the second half with just four men on court. Haryana Steelers began the second period looking to inflict a second All-Out on U Mumba. However, Fazel ‘Sultan’ Atrachali executed a Super Tackle to thwart Haryana Steelers’ momentum, while giving U Mumba fresh impetus. Atrachali’s tackle helped turn the tides of the contest in U Mumba’s favour, but Haryana Steelers executed successive Super Tackles to maintain their lead. A two-point raid in a Do-or-Die situation by Sandeep Narwal finally helped usher in an All-Out on Haryana Steelers with a little over four minutes left to play. Though the score was 26-23 in favour of Haryana Steelers after the All-Out, U Mumba had momentum on their side. A couple of successful raids by Abhishek Singhand one by Athul reduced the gap to one point. Kandola, though, showed tremendous resolve and continued to score raid points for Haryana Steelers to squash U Mumba’s chances of a comeback and give his side a slender three-point victory. U Mumba ensured that Tamil Thalaivas finished their vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 home leg without a win by registering a 29-24 victory over the hosts at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Athul MS was the leading scorer in the match with seven raid points and he played a big role in U Mumba’s second-half fightback. Tamil Thalaivas began the match positively and raced into a 4-1 lead after four minutes with ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari scoring three raid points, including a two-point raid. U Mumba gradually grew into the contest with some strong tackling and tied the score at 5-5 after the opening 10 minutes. However, Tamil Thalaivas soon reestablished their lead thanks to a couple of successive raids from ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur. He received support from Chaudhari, who picked up another two-point raid to extend the home side’s lead to 9-6. With halftime approaching, it looked like Tamil Thalaivas would inflict an All-Out. But a Super Tackle by Harendra Kumar on Chaudhari denied Tamil Thalaivas the All-Out and helped U Mumba reduce their deficit to 10-12 at the break. V. Ajith Kumar began the second half with a successful raid for the hosts only for Sandeep Narwal to respond with a two-point raid for U Mumba. The visitors moved into the lead five minutes into the second period after a two-point raid by Athul MS made it 15-14 in U Mumba’s favour. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Hooda’s heroics undone by Haryana Steelers’ defence as both teams settle for a tie Haryana Steelers and Jaipur Pink Panthers played out a back-and-forth contest that saw them settle for a 32-32 tie at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Wednesday. Deepak Hooda scored 14 raid points for Jaipur Pink Panthers but High 5s from Haryana Steelers’ Ravi Kumar and Sunil helped their team get three points from the match. A close battle between the raiders from both sides ensured that neither team was able to run away with the lead in the first quarter of the match. Hooda kept the points coming for Jaipur Pink Panthers, while Prashanth Kumar Rai and Vikash Kandola found success for Haryana Steelers. However, Hooda’s successful raid in the 10th minute started an excellent run for Jaipur Pink Panthers which saw them inflict an All-Out just three minutes later to take a six-point lead. Haryana Steelers, though, fought back after reentering the mat and sent Hooda to the bench in his first raid itself. Kandola soon turned on the heat by first taking out Pavan TR and then putting in a three-point Super Raid to help Haryana Steelers inflict an All-Out of their own. Haryana Steelers then sent Nitin Rawal and Nilesh Salunke to the bench courtesy of their defence to go into halftime with an 18-14 lead. The defenders from both sides started the second period on a positive note which helped Haryana Steelers maintain their lead. But a two-point raid from Hooda, where he got touches on Rai and Vikas Kale, cut the gap to just two points. Ravi Kumar kept the All-Out at bay, though, with a Super Tackle on Hooda which also brought up his High 5. But once Hooda was revived through Elavarasan’s tackle on Kandola, the Jaipur Pink Panthers skipper immediately struck by reaching his Super 10 with a touch on his counterpart Dharmaraj Cheralathan. Naveen kept scoring bonus points for Haryana Steelers to keep them in the lead, but he was soon taken down by Sandeep Dhull which helped Jaipur Pink Panthers inflict the All-Out and reduce the lead to just a solitary point. They drove home their advantage in the ensuing minutes with successful tackles on Haryana Steelers’ main raiders Kandola and Rai to sit on a three-point lead with under a minute left. But Haryana Steelers sent Hooda to the bench in a do-or-die raid before Cheralathan surprised Dhull with a Toe Touch to make it a one-point game. Rai then managed to score in the penultimate raid to tie the game and Salunke put in an empty raid to end the match as both teams took three-points from the match. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Prapanjan delivers in buzzer raid to help Bengal Warriors beat Gujarat Fortunegiants A stunning comeback in the second half by Gujarat Fortunegiants wasn’t enough as they lost 26-28 to Bengal Warriors. A thrilling Sunil Kumar led comeback by Gujarat Fortunegiants in the second half fell just short as Bengal Warriors held on to win by a scoreline of 28-26 at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. K. Prapanjansuccessfully managed to score in the buzzer raid to help Bengal Warriors climb to the second spot in the Season 7 standings. Gujarat Fortunegiants raced to a 2-0 lead but Bengal Warriors responded with three unanswered points to take a slender lead of their own. The two teams went back-and-forth and matched each other point-for-point as the scores remained at 8-8 twelve minutes into the first half. Mohammad Nabibakhsh’s successful raid reduced Gujarat Fortunegiants down to three men but in the all-rounder’s subsequent raid, the home team managed to Super Tackle him and add two points to their score. However, Vijin Thangadurai’s tackle on Sonu and Maninder Singh’s touch point on Ruturaj Koravi left Gujarat Fortunegiants with just two men on the mat. Nabibakhsh went in to raid again and fought through Parvesh Bhainswal and Sachin’s tackle attempts to inflict the game’s first All-Out on Gujarat Fortunegiants. Bengal Warriors then added two more points to their total, while allowing just one as the two teams headed into the half-time break with the scoreboard reading 17-12 in the visitors’ favour. Bengal Warriors continued to score points at regular intervals to keep any chance of a Gujarat Fortunegiants comeback at bay as the gap remained at five points a quarter of the way into the second half. They then upped the ante and scored three off the next four points to extend their lead to eight and reduce Gujarat Fortunegiants to three on the mat. But Gujarat Fortunegiants’ defence showed resilience and Super Tackled Nabibakhsh, before repeating that feat against Maninder just a couple of minutes later. The home team then added two more Super Tackles to their tally, levelling the match at 26-26. Nabibakhsh’s successful tackle on Sonu put Bengal Warriors up by one and reduced Gujarat Fortunegiants back down to three men, as the clock went down to the final minute of the contest. All-rounder Vinod Kumar smartly put in two quick empty raids forcing a Do-Or-Die raid on Bengal Warriors with just 12 seconds left on the clock. Prapanjan came in to raid in the must-score situation and managed to get a touch before escaping to the midline, confirming his team’s fourth victory of the campaign.   Top Performers – Bengal Warriors Best Raider – K. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] U Mumba rally late to tie against Puneri Paltan U Mumba produced a strong finish in match 75 of vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 to claim a 33-33 tie in the Maharashtra derby. U Mumba came back strongly in the closing minutes of the Maharashtra derby to claim three points after a 33-33 tie at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. Abhishek Singh scored a Super 10 for U Mumba, while Manjeet picked up six raid points and four tackle points. U Mumba enjoyed the better start and had reduced Puneri Paltan to just three men on court, while also taking a 5-2 lead by the sixth minute. A Super Tackle by Manjeet cut their lead to 5-4 but Puneri Paltan couldn’t withstand U Mumba’s pressure for too long and eventually succumbed to an All-Out in the ninth minute. Both sets of defences began to dominate after the All-Out, however, U Mumba maintained their six-point advantage heading into the final four minutes of the half. Puneri Paltan though finished the half stronger after a successful Pankaj Mohite raid as well as a couple of successful tackles from Balasaheb Jadhav and Hadi Tajik. Even though U Mumba had taken a 16-12 lead into the break, Puneri Paltan had reduced them to five men on court and were playing with confidence. The second period began with Mohite sending Sandeep Narwal to the bench following a well-executed Dubki. Mohite then intelligently drew three U Mumba defenders into the lobby without any touch on them to reduce the Season 2 champions to two men on the mat. Puneri Paltan capitalized on Mohite’s intelligent play soon after by inflicting an All-Out in the 26th minute to level things up at 20-20. Abhishek Singh looked to take the game by the scruff of the neck after the All-Out and helped pick up four consecutive points for U Mumba while raiding. A crunching tackle on Mohite by ‘Sultan’ Fazel Atrachali left Puneri Paltan with two men on court as U Mumba neared inflicting another All-Out. However, a Super Tackle by Shubham Shinde and a Super Raid by Manjeet turned the tables and gave Puneri Paltan a 26-25 advantage. They then drove home their advantage by enforcing another All-Out on U Mumba in the 35th minute to extend their lead to 32-26. The last five minutes of the encounter saw Abhishek rally again and his efforts in attack cut Puneri Paltan’s lead to two points with less than two minutes left to play. In the end, a successful tackle by Atrachali narrowed the deficit to one point with 28 seconds left and Abhishek got that point in U Mumba’s last raid as the teams shared the spoils.      Top Performers: Puneri Paltan – Best Raider – Manjeet (6 Raid Points) Best Defender – Manjeet (4 Tackle Points) U Mumba – Best Raider – Abhishek Singh (11 Raid Points) Best Defender – Sandeep Narwal (4 Tackle Points) #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Pardeep’s defiant Super 10 goes in vain as U.P. Yoddha down Patna Pirates Pardeep Narwal was the top-scorer of the match with 14 points but U.P. Yoddha’s all-round effort helped them win 41-29. Led by Shrikant Jadhav’s Super 10 and Nitesh Kumar’s High 5, U.P. Yoddha managed to overcome Pardeep Narwal’s 14-point performance to defeat Patna Pirates 41-29 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. Surender Gill was also excellent as a supporting act, scoring 6 raid points and one tackle point for U.P. Yoddha. Jadhav and Gill got off the block straight away for U.P. Yoddha and made short work of the Patna Pirates defence. They were well backed up by Amit and Nitesh Kumar in defence, conceding just two points before inflicting an All-Out a little over seven minutes into the match. ‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal scored a two-point raid as soon as Patna Pirates took the mat once again. But Jadhav proved difficult to tackle for Patna Pirates’ defence and managed to keep his team ahead with a two-point raid of his own which sent Jawahar and Vikas Jaglan to the bench. The score difference then rose to nine once Narwal was sent to the bench through Nitesh’s well-timed Ankle Hold and Patna Pirates were on the verge of conceding another All-Out. However, two Super Tackles by Monu and Hadi Oshtorak helped Patna Pirates claw thet way back into the match.  Patna Pirates capitalise on that momentum with a couple of two-point raids, first by Jaglan and then by Narwal, and reduced U.P. Yoddha down to a solitary man going into halftime, with the scoreboard reading 14-16 in U.P. Yoddha's favour. Patna Pirates inflicted the All-Out with their opening raid of the second half to take the lead for the first time in the contest. But Jadhav and Nitesh got to work as soon as U.P. Yoddha reassembled and put their team back in the lead just two raids later. Back-to-back successful raids by Narwal halted U.P. Yoddha’s momentum and reduced them down to two men on the mat. Skipper Nitesh, though, remained defiant and brought up his High 5 with a Super Tackle on Narwal. Gill then put in two successful raids separated by a successful tackle on Jaglan to take U.P. Yoddha ahead and leave only two Patna Pirates players on the mat. Gill inflicted the All-Out on Patna Pirates with a two-point raid to give his team a six-point cushion. Narwal reached High Super 10 soon after and continued to lead the Patna Pirates attack. But Jadhav remained a tough challenge for Patna Pirates’ defenders and he soon brought up his Super 10 through a run of three successful raids to help U.P. Yoddha inflict a second All-Out on Patna Pirates and put the game beyond their reach. Narwal scored another two-point to take his raid point tally on the night to 14, but it was U.P. Yoddha who completed a hat-trick of victories. Top Performers: Patna Pirates – Best Raider – Pardeep Narwal (14 Raid Points) Best Defender – Monu (3 Tackle Points) U.P.
