Description:

When we see others in trouble, society tells us that we should leave it alone and mind our own business. People think that it's what everyone wants when in truth, if people need help, they're mostly just too afraid to ask for it. So if the people who can help all mind their own business and the people who need help are too afraid to ask for it, how are we supposed to help each other? How are we supposed to grow as a society? As the story submitter says, "we should ALL do what we can to help others that are vulnerable and in a less fortunate position than we are. It’s the right thing to do in a civilized society." It really, really is.

❀ Thank you for your constant support and engagement! We have received many stories and are working on animating them! ❀ A PROFESSIONAL Voice Actor will record your story! We do everything to keep your identity private, unless you wish differently! Hi, my name is Susie. I hated my daughter for so long. Now, before you judge me and call me all sorts of names for being a bad mother and all that, I’d like you to hear my story. Typical story of boy meets girl and they fall in love. Nothing special. James and I graduated from college with good grades but getting jobs became an exhausting task. I worked as a waitress to earn some money, while James was hunting for a “real job”. “Everything is going to be fine, sweetie,” I usually said with tears in my eyes which I’d quickly blink away. We went to bed hungry most nights. There were times I stole food from the café just so we’d have something to eat. I was caught one day and given a strict warning. A short time after that I found out I was pregnant and I wept like a baby! We were barely surviving and now we were about to add another mouth to feed and all the difficulties that came with having a baby. “Everything’s going to be fine,” James consoled me even though he felt like crying himself. I won’t bore you with details of my pregnancy, suffice it to say that getting pregnant was the worst mistake I made in my life. James changed after I gave birth. He started to neglect me and do everything I hated and get angry when our daughter cried. But no, that wasn’t when I started hating my daughter. James became a stranger and he started getting phone calls from women. When I confronted him, he finally said that he’s seeing someone else and doesn’t want me anymore! I couldn’t believe how he’d do that after all we’d been through together! I was devastated as I watched him leave the house, without even asking for forgiveness or begging for a second chance! That was about thirteen years ago. It was very hard for me bringing up my daughter alone without a good job but I managed just fine. Even if I went to bed hungry, I made sure Nora’s stomach was filled. I was there for every school play, recital, ballet, bake sale and so much more. James was nowhere to be found. Few years ago I won the lottery and was finally able to start my own business and earn a great amount of money monthly! It felt like life was finally rewarding me after all the hard obstacles I faced. But what did my daughter do? When she was ten years old, she found a picture in between the pages of an old novel; a picture of James and I holding her when she was still a baby. She came asking and I shut her down. Had I known, I should have told her James was dead, after all, he was dead to me. Four months ago, I discovered that Nora had been communicating with her father for the past three years. She took that photograph and went investigating with the help of her friends and found him. I can’t tell you how betrayed I felt. After everything I did for her. We had a major fight when she wanted to spend the summer with him. “How dare you do this to me? How dare you go and meet that man who abandoned you? You ungrateful child! After all I sacrificed for you,” I screamed like a banshee. “Mom, please stop!” my thirteen-year-old daughter shouted as she stuffed clothes into her bag. “Why should I? It’s because he’s rich, isn’t it? But I earn a lot of money now as well! And I did everything I could to make you happy!” I was so mad at her, I yelled at the top of my voice. Yes, James later got his dream job. With tears in her eyes, she said “Oh, mom, how can you say that?” She left the house with me still shouting at her. That was the beginning of so many quarrels. I felt betrayal so strong, it was bordering on hatred. I told her everything I went through in the hands of her father but she still went ahead to have a relationship with him. It got to a point, Nora and I no longer spoke to each other. Now you know why I can’t stand her. It might seem petty to you but I can’t describe the hurt I feel. I hope you understand why I feel so betrayed. But what happened later might shock you even more!

My name is Gordon, I'm 17 years old and for a year already I've had a girlfriend. Well, I HAD a girlfriend. I would like to tell you why I broke up with her. I liked Emma very much. She was so fragile, so modest, so beautiful. Most modern girls aim to be in no way inferior to guys but Emma was pure meekness. She always let me choose which movie to watch or which meal to order. And she never argued with me. I always felt very strong and masculine when I was with her. But as time passed, I started to find these particular qualities pretty annoying. Maybe I just didn't appreciate how lucky I was, but I got bored because she always agreed with me. The only thing that she was painfully strict about was time when she had to be at home. She was petrified by the very idea that she could come home after eight P.M.. Once, we were stuck in traffic on our way back from the movies and she sobbed violently all the way home, and she didn't want to explain to me why she could not simply call home and explain that she would be like fifteen minutes late! At first I thought that her parents were very strict, but then I met them at a picnic and they seemed very nice! Emma’s mother was still very beautiful, and Emma looked and acted a lot like her, very quiet and polite. I doubt she has ever scolded anyone. Emma’s father, Mark, made a great impression on me! Very bright, witty, self-confident, and charismatic.I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I even tried to compare him to my own father… and my old man totally lost. So, I had taken a lot pictures on the day of the picnic and the day after my mother and I went to visit her sister – my aunt. I've loved aunt Mary since my childhood and I always tell her in detail about everything that is going on in my life. So she knew that I had a girlfriend and now I told aunt Mary that I had finally met Emma’s family and showed her the photos from yesterday’s picnic. Aunt Mary couldn't wait to see the pictures, until she saw Emma’s father in one of them. She broke off and it seemed like her hand was shaking. “Do you know what his name is?” she asked in a strange, empty voice. And when I answered: “Of course! It's Mark!” she jumped up and ran out of the room. My mother followed her and I was left alone in the room, totally clueless. Soon my mother came back, looking very serious. “She'll be alright,” she said, answering my silent question and then added: “But you have to know something. A while ago your aunt knew Mark very well. And it was the most terrible story of her life. And my mom told me that Mary and Mark used to go out together – a long time ago, before I was even born. In the beginning everything was fine and aunt Mary was head over hills in love with this brilliant, macho guy. But soon she realized that Mark was trying to control her more and more. He decided what she should wear, which girls she should be friends with, and even which books she should read. And when she tried to object, he became more and more aggressive. …When he hit her for the first time, she was ready to leave him. But he didn't want to let her go. He became so nice again and asked for her forgiveness promising that everything would change. But nothing changed. As soon as Mary thought that everything was back to normal, Mark started to tighten his grip. And everything turned out bad again, Mary tried to leave him, he wouldn't let her go, and the story repeated again. And again. And again. At the end, Mary no longer understood what was going on and what she felt toward Mark – whether she loved him or whether she was afraid of him. She kept telling her parents that everything was great and that they were going to get married. Until her older sister, my mother, noticed the bruises on her hands and demanded that she tell her the truth. My mother helped aunt Mary to get rid of her abuser, they went to the police, and Mary got a court order to keep Mark away from her. But Mary never got over this relationship. Neither pills nor psychologists could help her. Since then she has been afraid of being in a relationship and has stayed single forever. I was shocked. And as we went home, I was thinking about Emma, her mother… and Mark. I started to realize that he has not changed at all. I remembered that Emma’s mother was wearing a long-sleeved shirt - probably to hide the bruises from her husband’s hands? I remembered how both she and her daughter meekly agreed with him. I also remembered how Emma was scared of being home late, even like by a minute... she was scared to death! I have to confess that when I went out with Emma the next time… I conducted a cruel experiment. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, this is Michelle, and this story literally happened yesterday. There’s so much to talk about from last night that she’s not really sure where to start. In brief, she was betrayed by her best friend and she almost died, and both these things happened within fifteen minutes of each other. It all started as a truth or dare game. Michelle has a group of friends that she’s known since they were all about five years old. There are six of them, all girls, and they’re fourteen now. Actually, a couple of them have already turned fifteen. She won’t bother going through all their names, since she would have to change them anyway to tell this story, but the important thing is that out of all of them her best friend is called Lana. Though she should probably say she HAD a best friend. Anyway, Michelle and Lana live close to each other, so they’ve always seen each other more often than the others. Over the years, they’ve grown really close, so basically she knows a lot about Michelle and vice versa…or so Michelle thought. Bear in mind also that Michelle is a really, really private person, and she hates telling people personal things, although Lana was an exception. And there are a lot of things about her that even she doesn’t know either. But nevermind about all that – let’s stick to the story. Last night, they had a sleepover at Lana’s. Her parents are away on vacation, and they have no problem leaving the whole house to Lana to look after. She’s never caused them any trouble when they’ve gone away in the past, but Michelle can only imagine the looks on their faces when they come back and hear what just happened. So five of them came over to Lana's for the sleepover, because one of their friends – let’s call her Judy – got sick. It wasn’t the first time they spent the night at Lana’s, and Michelle herself went over to hang out even more often than the others, since she only lives like, two houses away. So last night, they first decided to watch a movie, then they cooked dinner together – two of their friends love cooking. After that they decided that they wanted to play something, and someone suggested “Truth or Dare,” the classic sleepover game. As a very private person, Michelle really hates this game, because she has to pick dare all the time. The idea of telling any secret, even to a group of close friends, is just terrifying for her. It was okay at the start – there was nothing but harmless questions and easy tasks. Like singing a stupid song, or calling Judy to convince her Ed Sheeran was at the house with them on a surprise visit…it sure sounds dumb now, but shemanaged to sound dead serious, and Judy almost believed her! But the girls spoiled everything when they started laughing, they just couldn’t keep it in anymore. One thing though, before she moves on to the main part of the story. Lana and Michelle have a classmate called Josh. Josh Hurley, that’s what she’ll call him here. And…thank god this is anonymous…she really, really likes him. He’s justamazing. And he lives right across the street from Lana. They talk at school every once in a while, but it never goes further than that. Michelle believes it really could go further, but he doesn’t know anything about how she feels. No one does – except for Lana. So there they were playing, and it was Michelle’s turn again, and of course she picked dare rather than truth. The girls were struggling to come up with a task for her, but after a few minutes Lana said that she had a great idea. She said that Michelle had to get on the roof of her house and shout “I LOVE YOU JOSH HURLEY!” three times, as loud as she could. Michelle still can’t believe she said it. Lana knew that she liked Josh, and she knew there was a big chance he’d hear about it sooner or later, and she knew just how embarrassed Michelle wouldbe if she told anyone else. But at that moment she simply thought: a game is a game, let’s just get it over with. She climbed onto the roof through the bedroom window, and found a spot that looked like it was safe. It was almost midnight, so it was really dark. The girls were all standing at the window ready to film the whole thing. Just to remind you, the phrase she had to say was “I love you, Josh Hurley.” She shouted it once, dying of embarrassment, then a second time. All of the lights in Josh’s house were off, so she was praying nobody was home. Because if they were, the whole family was going to be woken up by her yelling. The girls were laughing and cheering. She really wanted it to be over, so she took a deep breath and shouted it out for a third time. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com
