Hi everybody! My name is Gordon, I'm 17 years old and for a year already I've had a girlfriend. Well, I HAD a girlfriend. I would like to tell you why I broke up with her.

I liked Emma very much. She was so fragile, so modest, so beautiful. Most modern girls aim to be in no way inferior to guys but Emma was pure meekness. She always let me choose which movie to watch or which meal to order. And she never argued with me. I always felt very strong and masculine when I was with her.

But as time passed, I started to find these particular qualities pretty annoying. Maybe I just didn't appreciate how lucky I was, but I got bored because she always agreed with me.

The only thing that she was painfully strict about was time when she had to be at home. She was petrified by the very idea that she could come home after eight P.M..

Once, we were stuck in traffic on our way back from the movies and she sobbed violently all the way home, and she didn't want to explain to me why she could not simply call home and explain that she would be like fifteen minutes late!

At first I thought that her parents were very strict, but then I met them at a picnic and they seemed very nice!

Emma’s mother was still very beautiful, and Emma looked and acted a lot like her, very quiet and polite. I doubt she has ever scolded anyone.

Emma’s father, Mark, made a great impression on me! Very bright, witty, self-confident, and charismatic.I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I even tried to compare him to my own father… and my old man totally lost.

So, I had taken a lot pictures on the day of the picnic and the day after my mother and I went to visit her sister – my aunt.

I've loved aunt Mary since my childhood and I always tell her in detail about everything that is going on in my life. So she knew that I had a girlfriend and now I told aunt Mary that I had finally met Emma’s family and showed her the photos from yesterday’s picnic.

Aunt Mary couldn't wait to see the pictures, until she saw Emma’s father in one of them. She broke off and it seemed like her hand was shaking.

“Do you know what his name is?” she asked in a strange, empty voice. And when I answered: “Of course! It's Mark!” she jumped up and ran out of the room. My mother followed her and I was left alone in the room, totally clueless.

Soon my mother came back, looking very serious. “She'll be alright,” she said, answering my silent question and then added: “But you have to know something. A while ago your aunt knew Mark very well. And it was the most terrible story of her life.

And my mom told me that Mary and Mark used to go out together – a long time ago, before I was even born. In the beginning everything was fine and aunt Mary was head over hills in love with this brilliant, macho guy. But soon she realized that Mark was trying to control her more and more. He decided what she should wear, which girls she should be friends with, and even which books she should read. And when she tried to object, he became more and more aggressive.

…When he hit her for the first time, she was ready to leave him. But he didn't want to let her go. He became so nice again and asked for her forgiveness promising that everything would change.

But nothing changed. As soon as Mary thought that everything was back to normal, Mark started to tighten his grip. And everything turned out bad again, Mary tried to leave him, he wouldn't let her go, and the story repeated again. And again. And again.

At the end, Mary no longer understood what was going on and what she felt toward Mark – whether she loved him or whether she was afraid of him. She kept telling her parents that everything was great and that they were going to get married. Until her older sister, my mother, noticed the bruises on her hands and demanded that she tell her the truth.

My mother helped aunt Mary to get rid of her abuser, they went to the police, and Mary got a court order to keep Mark away from her.
But Mary never got over this relationship. Neither pills nor psychologists could help her. Since then she has been afraid of being in a relationship and has stayed single forever.

I was shocked. And as we went home, I was thinking about Emma, her mother… and Mark. I started to realize that he has not changed at all. I remembered that Emma’s mother was wearing a long-sleeved shirt - probably to hide the bruises from her husband’s hands? I remembered how both she and her daughter meekly agreed with him. I also remembered how Emma was scared of being home late, even like by a minute... she was scared to death!

I have to confess that when I went out with Emma the next time… I conducted a cruel experiment.

My Father is a very successful businessman, but I can’t say that he was ever a good person. My Mother was a young immigrant, around 20 years old when she started to date my Father, who was much older. She was always a good, hard-working woman. She and my Father separated when I was around 8 years old. When this happened my Mom had to go back to her own country and I’ve rarely seen her since then. I wanted to go with her, but my Father decided that I should stay with him so he wouldn’t need to pay child support. I don’t know why it was important for him, because he had so much money. I guess it was pride. I very rarely saw my Mom, but we kept in contact through the years. Recently, I turned 18, and my Father found a new girlfriend. Her name was Victoria. He'd had a lot of them throughout my childhood. All of them were very young and he always treated them horribly. Victoria was also 18 or 19 and she came from a very poor family. I hated her at first because I thought she was a gold digger. After a few months she moved into our house and talks about marriage started. By this point, I had started to get to know her better, and I realized that she was a very sweet and smart girl. Sometimes I would talk with her for hours. She wanted to break out of her poverty-stricken life and her toxic family, and my Father was the best chance for her. She was very grateful to him for giving her this new life." But I knew my Father, and I saw how he was treating her. He would never let her go anywhere, and if we had guests, he would always talk over her. I wanted to save her because I knew how it would end - my Father would leave her as soon as she stopped being “convenient” for him. And honestly, that wasn’t the only reason I wanted to help... I had started to feel like I liked her. I was seeing how unhappy she was locked up in this big house, so when my Father was busy working, I would try to make her happier. I would take her to the movies or to cafes, or even on a simple walk through the park, and she was always smiling and laughing during our time together. However, as soon as we came home and my Father would return, she would be unhappy again - never smiling or laughing. Once. we returned from the movies and for some reason my Father was home early. He was angry and asked what was happening. I tried to explain to him that I was just trying to make Victoria more comfortable, after all, she was a part of our family and technically my stepmother. He warned us that if something like this ever happened again, everyone would face repercussions, and I would have to leave his house because I was already 18. Victoria was scared and I was angry. He was acting like she was his property! Over the next few weeks Victoria barely spoke to me and I felt terrible because I had feelings for her. At the same time, I realized that I simply couldn’t live with this horrible man anymore, who never cared for me, my Mom, or anyone else except himself. I decided that it was time for me to leave the house for good and to start my own life. But I didn’t want to leave Victoria. I told her that we could run away together since she wasn’t married to him. He would just play with her and then leave her with nothing, just like he did with every other woman in his life. I started to pack my things slowly and to plan where I would go next. I tried to slowly work on it for several days, because I hoped that Victoria would finally agree to come with me. And one day, she came into my room and shyly asked if I had a plan. I told her all about it - I had friends and contacts everywhere, and some money saved. We could start working, then try to get an education, and slowly build the life that we wanted. She finally agreed to leave with me. She collected her stuff very quickly - she didn’t have a lot of it, to be honest. All this time she was looking around, scared that father would return any minute. We finally finished up packing the rest of our things and left for the bus station to catch a bus to another city where one of my friends had offered to take us in for a while. I was so happy on the way there, I knew that our life wouldn’t be easy, but it was so much better than living with a man like my Father. I actually felt guilty that I didn’t do this sooner and lived with him for so many years while knowing how bad he was. Victoria was completely silent the whole time. I tried to cheer her up and she tried to smile, but she was definitely frightened. When we arrived at the bus station, I kept trying to calm her down and tell her that she wasn’t alone... I am 13 years old, and I live with my mother and father. Well, I mean, until recently that's what I thought. My mother is pregnant and will soon give birth to my brother. No… it's not like that. Oh, let me start over from the beginning! Just six months ago we were an absolutely normal and happy family. Only my grandmother Pamela, my father’s mother, and my mother had a pretty cold relationship. You know, they both pretended that the other just didn’t exist! But it was always this way, and I had gotten used to it. Whenever we were going to visit my grandmother we would always do it together with my father, and my mother wouldn’t join us. My grandmother can’t be called the most sweet and nice person to communicate with, but I always knew that she was really very kind. The only thing about her that I saw was that she was sad because she lived alone. Right when I was about to be born, my grandfather and her divorced – he went to Europe and we haven't heard from him since. Well, at least that was the story I heard when I was little and when I asked. And then when I grew up- I stopped asking. My parents wanted a second child badly, but for a long time they were unsuccessful. When my mother finally got pregnant, we were all so happy! And then my father made us even more happy when he said that after the baby was born, we would move to the new house, a bigger and better one! Life was beautiful! But something went wrong. After a few months, I noticed that my parents became more and more nervous and upset. When I asked what was going on, they just brushed me off. So I decided to call granny Pam and ask what was wrong. My grandmother said that I was already big enough to know and explained that my father took out a mortgage for the house, but that something had gone wrong with the business, and now he was having trouble paying it off. She also added that the best thing I could do was to spare my father from questions since he was feeling bad enough already. So, I couldn't get any answers from my father — no questions, because I didn't want to make him feel worse, but I couldn't ask my mother either – I had no right to get her worried, because it could harm the baby. All I could do was guess – will everything be alright or will we soon be thrown out on the street and become beggars? So I thought that maybe I could learn to sing and dance in order to earn money to feed my little baby brother and myself. My mom and dad became more and more sad and irritated with each passing day. And they still didn't tell me anything. So I decided to eavesdrop on what they were talking about. I know it's not good, but didn’t I have a right to know what was going on? You know, at the beginning, I did not understand what they were talking about. They sounded very nervous and argued about something connected to money and… my grandfather. I listened and listened and finally I understood! It turned out that my grandfather had recently died. He had left a will and according to this will, I was the one who inherited all the big money he left! But only under the condition that I would read some letter. Frankly speaking, I was so happy that I almost left my secret hideout, screaming, "...of course, this legacy will solve all of our problems!" But I didn't do it because I understood that my parents did not want me to read the letter. Even though they kept repeating that we needed this money very, very badly. I quietly returned to my room, went to bed, and while I was still awake I was thinking that my parents should not worry – I was a big girl now and whatever my grandfather had written in that letter wouldn’t scare me, and I will be able to help my family with all the money he left me. And on the next day I said all of this out loud, right away at breakfast. I thought they would be happy… but they looked shocked and seemed totally unwilling to even talk about it. Then I called Granny Pam and told her everything. But you know… my grandmother reacted very strangely. She started to laugh. But at the same time she didn't sound as if she had found any of this actually funny at all. Finally she said: "Of course, my dear, I will come over now and do my best to convince them." And she really did come to visit – I think for the first time in my life. But it did not make me happy at all. She looked threatening and … triumphant for some reason. And she talked to my parents as if she was deriving some dark, unkind satisfaction from the whole situation. But she really did manage to persuade them. She said, "Did you really think that you could keep this a secret forever?" and she started laughing again, but I noticed tears in her eyes. But she never thought that when Kate got into trouble she’d be the only one who could save her. Kate and Gloria are only one year apart. She was 16 and Gloria was 15 when this story started. Ever since they were little kids, they would always argue about everything, and she still doesn’t know if it was because they were way too alike or too different from each other. They could never share toys, Kate was always breaking her stuff, and she in her turn always told on her to their mom, which would make Kate even angrier. And the fact that they had to share a room didn’t help. As they got older, it only got worse. They would barely talk to each other, and sometimes they wouldn’t even say hello to each other, or they'd just get mad at each other about nothing, like if one of them left a dirty plate in the kitchen. Honestly, Gloria thinks that most of the time it was Kate who started these conflicts... But one day, her sister suddenly became very calm and happy. It was so weird seeing her smile! She wouldn’t even get mad at Gloria when she listened to her music louder than usual, and once, she even let her borrow a t-shirt from her that she liked. It didn't take her long to solve the mystery! Kate had found a boyfriend. His name was Justin. And she has to admit – she got a little jealous when she first saw him: he was tall and handsome. She even got to chat with him a little bit when he was at their house, and they had so much in common that she almost started to take a fancy to him… But she wouldn’t do that to her sister, because no matter how much they argued, they were still family. And she didn't want to jeopardize the fact that Kate was being way nicer than she ever had before. So she decided that she would enjoy it while it lasted. But one day, Kate and Justin came back to their house together and she went to take a shower. After a while, Justin started talking about weird stuff with Gloria, saying things like “It’s so cool that both you and Kate are so beautiful, I guess it runs in the family, but one of you was luckier. Can you guess who?” And then he tried to hold her hand! What?!! Gloria has to admit that she didn’t remove her hand right away, but it was only because she was so shocked by what was happening...and he was looking at her with this dreamy look...but then Kate got out of the shower and got ready quickly so they could go out (they were planning to go to a party or something). Gloria didn’t know what to do in that situation. She kind of liked Justin, but did she really want to be with a guy who was willing to cheat like that? No! And besides, Kate was her sister… So she decided to tell her. She wanted to do it right after Kate returned, but it was too awkward. And over the next few days, Justin came over again, and it was weird with him in the house...so one evening, she finally worked up the nerve to tell her. “Kate, I have to tell you something…” and then she basically told her the entire story. Kate looked at her and then she snapped at Gloria: “You’re always lying! You’re just jealous that I have a boyfriend and you don’t!” She tried to tell her the truth, but it was useless. Over the next week she was so rude. Basically, everything had now gone back to its normal state between them. But every time Justin came over she was so angry...he would look at her with this nasty smile, because Kate told him what Gloria had said and he totally played dumb. She was so angry! But she also felt so sorry for her sister...She remembered all the good times they had had together. Even if they constantly argued, they had always had each other’s backs...and she couldn’t just forget about that! So she HAD to prove to her that she wasn’t lying. But she couldn’t just text Justin or something like that because he would know what she was up to, so she basically waited until he came over to their house again, and when they were left alone…she hid her phone nearby and started to record a video. When Kate went to take a shower, she started talking to him, but she knew that she had to be careful. It went something like this: “Why did you stop paying attention to me, Justin? What happened? Not interested anymore?” and he said “Because you told Kate!” “I didn’t tell her! I wrote it in my diary and she read it herself, I promise!” She really hoped that Justin would be stupid enough to believe her, and well, he was! He then asked her what she wanted now, and she asked if he would be willing to break up with her sister to be with her, and he started to think and said “Maybe, but not right now...” or something like that... I Couldnt Get Job Even At Fast Food So I Opened My Company Instead
I Couldnt Get Job Even At Fast Food So I Opened My Company Instead

by ACTUALLY HAP...

Hi guys! I bet all of you have been rejected, maybe you've heard something like, “Sorry, but you’re not good enough.” I know that this can be really discouraging. And I know that a lot of people have felt miserable when hearing “no” as an answer. But I don’t want you to be like them. That’s why I’m telling my story. To help you believe that there’s nothing in the world that can prevent you from being successful, except for yourselves. My life began many years ago in China. I was the second born of three children. Back then, the whole country was going through tough times and my family was no exception. My mom and dad were storytellers through music and also earned their living by teaching other people to play national musical instruments. This definitely didn’t have us rolling in money; we were not even considered to be part of the middle class, you know. But, that’s life. Then, due to some complicated political things, the situation in my home country changed. A tiny town where I used to collect crickets and play with them as a hobby, started hosting lots of tourists from around the globe. I was totally amazed by the diversity of people from different cultures and from different countries, and I thought that someday I’d want to travel just like them and see the world. But there was one big problem (well, except for the money issue, of course). Those tourists spoke English, and I didn’t. I don’t know why exactly, but back then, being a small child, I was sure that knowing this language would open a whole bunch of opportunities for me. There was no English at my school, and, obviously, my family couldn’t afford to hire a tutor. But I found a way to study it myself - I began listening to the BBC and the Voice of America from 8 P.M. to 9 P.M. on a daily basis. I enjoyed the sounds the show presenters made and tried to imitate them. But at the same time, I couldn’t master my English without actually practicing speaking it, you know. There was nobody nearby who I could speak English with and this made things a little bit hard. But anyone who has set a goal, will definitely find a way to reach it. There was a hotel full of international tourists that was, like, 40 minutes from our home if you're riding a bike. And I went, I mean, every day despite any weather conditions, I took my bike and went there. And I offered my services as a guide to tell those tourists about the town and the country and everything. I really enjoyed that experience and I did this for free for a bunch of years. By the way, at school I never was successful. It was so hard for me to study, that I even managed to fail the final test in primary school two times in a row, and happened to do the exact same thing in middle school. I doubt that I was the dumbest among the others; I think I just didn’t have a proper goal. But my obsession with learning English really inspired me. When I turned 16, and I was still doing my free tour guide job, I met one nice family from Australia, who was traveling through China. I was lucky to be able to help them explore the country and I soon became really good friends with their son David. So, when the whole family left, I continued writing to David who was already back in Australia. We became pen pals. I might say that he became a sort of tutor for me: whenever I wrote to him, he sent me my letters back, having corrected all the mistakes I made. No doubt, this was really helpful for my English practice. By the way, this was not the only thing that I’m still grateful to this family for. One day I received a letter – where they were inviting me to visit them there, in Australia. Oh my god! I was ready to jump over the moon! I was so happy. I couldn’t believe that this was finally happening to me and that I was actually about to go that far away and finally make my dream of traveling come true. But hey, we’re still far from the happy ending of this story! Remember, I started with the "rejections" issue? Well, I applied 7 times for an Australian visa before they allowed me to finally go there. Of course, every time I’d get a “no” answer, this made me sad, but I kept struggling and trying and it was all worth it. I spent a whole month in Newcastle and this changed my life. Before I left China, I was taught that China was the richest, happiest, country in the world. So when I arrived in Australia, I thought, oh, my God, everything is different from what I was told. And since then, I started to think differently. New 2019 animated stories that actually happened! ★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? My name is Daniel. Here`s what I want to talk about. My dad went missing for almost a year and I feel guilty about it. I`ll start from the very beginning. My dad was the most positive person on earth. For as long as I can remember, he was always glowing with happiness. But everything changed after one incident about a year ago. He didn't come home from work one night. At first, my mom and I thought that everything was ok. But he still hadn't shown up at nine o'clock that evening. That's when we began to call our friends and his colleagues. No one knew where dad could be. Then mom found dad's boss's phone number, and we called him. He surprised us a lot when he said that that day, my dad didn't show up at work, and didn't answer his phone calls. It was then that we really began to worry. What's happening? Where was he all day? We called the police, and two officers came to us and started asking us questions about my father. Soon afterward they found him. He was in the hospital, so my mother and I rushed there. When we got to the hospital and finally saw him, he was asleep. He was covered in scratches and bruises, there were pieces of glass in his clothes, and his shirt sleeve was almost torn off. The doctors said that he had a concussion and could have some sort of short-term memory loss. But everything else was fine. Officers said they found him outside the city. Looks like he was driving at a high speed, lost control, and his car ended up in a ditch. He was very lucky that he survived this accident. We spent the whole night in the hospital and when dad woke up we asked him what happened. And his answer shocked us: he said that he flew off the road because he was hit by another car. It was a serious allegation, so the police started an investigation. They came to our house a few times and asked a lot of questions. About a month later, they sent us a letter with their expert’s conclusion. According to this letter, the car didn`t have any traces of paint from another vehicle. To put it simply – no one had rammed my father's car. Dad was angry, he complained about the police inaction, and insisted that he was telling the truth. But my mom was upset. She believed the police and thought that my dad was lying and hiding something. Besides, where was he all day? Why didn't he go to work? To these questions he replied that he just didn't remember. So my parents sometimes fought about it. And I didn't know who was right. But I knew that dad was acting weird. He always covered the windows with curtains, his phone was often turned off. It seemed like… he was afraid of something, but he wouldn`t say what. In general, the atmosphere in the house was strange. But then something happened that really scared me. I was home after school doing my homework when I heard the front door slam loudly. I went down and saw my father. He looked scared – he had huge eyes and could barely breathe. When he caught his breath he finally said: "I saw her again, that car!" Then he ran up to the table and began to write something on a piece of paper. He tried to remember the car`s license plate number, but he couldn't. Dad was really worked up. He nervously walked around the house saying that mom will finally believe him now. But she didn't. After all, there was no evidence. So they just bickered again. And I can understand mom. Her husband is acting strange, obviously hiding something. Of course, she didn`t believe his words. Since then, dad has spent a lot of time on the computer. He was googling something, printing some articles. In the garage he hung up a board, where he attached various photos and documents. He even installed security cameras around the house! Apparently, he was determined to prove to me and my mom that he was right. It looked more like paranoia, but this is my dad – he always goes all out. And so we lived like this for two months. In the evenings, dad sat in the garage and watched the video from the cameras. I kept hoping dad would admit that he was wrong, or finally tell us why he didn`t go to work that day. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

I’m Adam, I’m 23 years old, and I’m still trying to finish high school. My family has always been caring and loving, but we barely made enough money for a comfortable living. My Dad worked several jobs just to keep us afloat, and my Mom worked a lot too. I didn't even have time to think about my grades or school. I decided to find some unofficial work. I still went to school, and afterward I would work small jobs like loading crates or helping my mom with her janitorial work. I tried a lot of different jobs during this time, all the while my teachers would get angry at me for being far behind with my grades and assignments. So I decided to not bother them anymore and to just drop out school. I had enough money to help my family and even had a little left over for myself. As soon as I turned 18, I found a job at a metal factory, and since I already had two years of work experience under my belt, I learned the job fast. I worked hard and didn’t talk much. A perfect worker. Soon I got so useful that my boss let me browse through my phone while there was nothing to do. It was a big privilege. During my free time I would hang out with my friends, many of whom were musicians, so at a lot of concerts, and well, bars. My only passion was soccer, I would watch every game and championship very closely, and that was my escape from my life's troubles. Sadly, my Father passed away. We were at the hospital, me, my mom, and my siblings, we were all crying and trying to make sense of everything. I promised to bring in as much money as I could, but my mom suddenly stopped me and said, “Adam, don’t ruin your life, this is not what your Father would have wanted for you. Go back to school, I'm begging you!’. I… didn’t want to, but I realized that my Mom was right. So I returned to school, reducing my hours at the factory, instead of quitting altogether. My first day at school was... weird. The teacher introduced me in front of the entire class, and everyone was just staring at me like I was an alien. She asked me to tell everyone a little bit about myself, and I said “hi…I’m Adam and I’m old.” Some people giggled, but most of them were still just staring, weirded out. During my first few days, nobody would talk to me, and I was okay with that, I would just stare out the window during breaks. One day, a group of guys and girls came up to me and started asking me why I was going to school at my age. I answered with cheesy jokes, like “Oh, I just forgot about school one day and then was like oh yeah, school, I should go there.” People giggled, and started asking me a lot questions about my jobs and stuff. I guess I got kinda popular. TOO popular. One girl in particular liked me and tried to sit with me during any subject we had together or in the cafeteria. She was asking a lot about me and I answered with my usual cheesy jokes, and she'd laugh way too hard at them. I didn’t want any problems, so I tried to sit away from her and limit our chats without hurting her feelings. But every time I sat away, she would find me and sit right next to me, like a Yo-Yo. Work sent me a little curveball too. At my usual late shift my boss came to me, patted me on my shoulder and said, “Adam, how about a raise?” I said, “Yeah, that would be nice!” and he told me how much I could earn, and then he ended with, “...of course you'd have to return to work full time.” I said I couldn’t do that because I had school. His smile immediately changed to a frown. “Okay, then you can’t use your phone during your shifts anymore”. Uh-oh. My grades at school weren’t great, because I had to balance it with work. So I was failing everywhere – at school and at my work. I was waking up, going to school, then to work right afterward and I only slept for like 3-5 hours every day, even on the weekends. I couldn’t pay attention in school or at work. Teachers were understanding of my situation, but they also noticed how much this girl was clinging to me and they were suspiciously looking at us every time we sat together. Also, every time I saw my boss at work, he would say something like, “you’re getting slower, Adam… you should be grateful that I’m still letting you work here.” After the hundredth time of him saying something like that, I stood up and said, “Okay, bye then.” As I was walking away, he followed me and was saying “come on, Adam, you know you won’t find anything better, you should be grateful for what you have…” at this point I snapped and shouted at him with…and not with very nice words. But his words stuck with me, like how he said, “You know you won’t find anything better.” I took it too close to heart and stopped going to school too. This is gonna be a story of my first love which is now a taboo subject in my family. Everything started a few months ago and it seems like I'm going to be disappointed, shocked, and frustrated for the rest of my life. I feel like I still love the guy and I deeply hate myself for it. Jackson moved to our town six months ago. He was born here actually, but when his mom died in a car accident many years ago, Jackson’s dad decided to get a fresh start in another city. They traveled through almost the whole country, when his dad’s job finally brought them back down here again. Anyway, soon afterward, he started going to our school and we became friends, but then we both agreed that we were attracted to each other in a romantic sense and decided to begin dating. Jackson’s cool, you know. He rides a motorcycle and looks really mysterious and wise. I mean, there was hardly any chance of me not falling in love with him. Once he had the idea to go their family’s lake house and spend the whole weekend there. We had not been dating for that long yet, and my parents actually had no idea that he had a motorcycle, otherwise they wouldn’t even let me talk to him, you know. That’s why I lied to them and told them that I was going to spend the weekend at my friend Angelica’s country house. I didn’t feel great about having lied to my parents. And I had a bit of an unpleasant feeling inside, even though I was pretty excited about spending two days with my love. That unpleasant and worrisome feeling began growing soon after Jackson and I set out for our top-secret trip. At first, we got a flat tire; then, while Jackson was trying to fix it, a huge truck passed by and sloshed us with water and mud. I thought that this had to be enough trouble for one day, but as they say, bad things come in threes, so when we finally arrived at the lake house, dirty and exhausted, it turned out that Jackson had taken the wrong set of keys. We had nothing to do but to break into the house, obviously damaging the lock. A couple of hours later when we had finally changed our clothes and ate our dinner, Jackson and I were sitting next to the fireplace looking through an old family album. He was telling me about his mom, showing me her photos, and I felt like even though he could barely remember her, he missed her a lot. Suddenly we came across a picture of Jackson’s young mom sitting next to… my young mom! I was so surprised that I even screamed. Jackson, on the other hand, didn't recognize the woman next to his mom, but when I told him who she actually was, he turned pale. We rushed to look through the rest of the photos and found another interesting picture. Even though this photo had been taken many years ago when I probably wasn’t even born yet, I could bet I knew that man. Even though he didn’t have a mustache and his hair was long, I was pretty sure this was my mom’s brother – my uncle Henry. Of course, I told Jackson this and he was no less surprised and confused than I was. We couldn’t wait until the morning to go back home and ask our parents about everything, so we just decided to return immediately that night. Jackson’s dad was out of town, so I had to be the first one to begin the investigation. Of course, I had to confess to my parents that I had lied to them. Because it was already 1 A.M. when I returned home, while they weren't expecting me until the next evening. Dad was already sleeping and the talk with my mom wasn’t nice at all. She didn’t want to hear any explanation for why I had lied to her and how come I’d even dared to date a guy with a motorcycle, so she’d severely grounded me for that. And when I showed her the pictures of these photos on my cell phone and explained everything to her, she looked like she had just seen a ghost. She yelled at me, and told me that I was no longer allowed to see Jackson and that he’d better stay out of our family. I was devastated and I didn’t understand anything. At first I thought that my mom didn’t mean it, about me not seeing Jackson at all, and that she was just disappointed in my lies. But the next day she literally wouldn’t let me out of the house, constantly asking me to do something for her. Then, when the week started and I had to go to school, I wasn’t really expecting that mom would ask dad to come and pick me after my classes. So I basically had no chance to hang out with Jackson and I was totally confused because nobody would explain anything to me. By the way, Jackson managed to ask his dad about these photos, but the information he’d gotten explained nothing. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened
