LAUNCHING MAY 31
WFAE’s She Says is an investigative podcast series that follows the story of a sexual assault survivor in North Carolina's Mecklenburg County and the long and difficult process of finding justice. As of this writing, no one has been brought to justice in the case.
Over the course of eight episodes, award-winning WFAE reporter Sarah Delia will take a closer look at how our criminal justice system handles sexual assault cases on a local and national level. In addition to conversations with the sexual assault survivor at the heart of this story, the podcast will feature interviews with current and former law enforcement, specialized nurses, DNA experts and more. We’ll also hear from another sexual assault survivor from North Carolina whose case ended in the successful prosecution of her perpetrator.
This series will grapple with a number of questions: Are detectives overworked with too many cases? What resources do sexual assault survivors need? And in this case, how long will it take for justice to be served?
New episodes will be released every Thursday beginning May 31 on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, NPR One and WFAE.org.
