Hey, I’m Neil, and a little while ago, I was accused of stealing money in school. I was completely innocent, but nobody believed me.

I got in trouble a lot, and teachers knew that, and, well, they didn’t like me that much. They even called my parents pretty often, but my parents didn’t really care. It was also pretty hard to make friends, and a lot of other people thought I was weird, but nobody ever said anything to me face to face, because they were afraid of me. Thankfully, I had had one friend since I was a kid. His name is Matt and we've been friends since the first grade.

One day, our teacher called me into her office and told me “Okay, Neil, I know the truth. Tell me where they are.” I was like, “What are you talking about?” and she kept looking at me with this serious look. After a long and awkward silence she told me “I know you took our school trip money from the table. If you return it, you won’t be in trouble, I promise.

I didn’t know what to say. Basically, the class below us was collecting money for a trip, and apparently our teacher was keeping it on her table, and one day it disappeared. I got very angry because of the accusation and raised my voice saying, “I didn’t take the money, I never touched it!” My teacher sighed and said, “We all know that it was you, Neil. Who else could it be?” I answered, “It could be anyone, because you weren’t smart enough to not keep it out on your table!”
After this, I stormed out of the classroom. I thought that was the end of it, and this teacher wouldn’t bother me anymore, but it was far from over. That was only the beginning.

The next day, I was called into the principal’s office. I went there, and to my surprise, the principal was waiting for me along with two teachers, and one of them was the same one that accused me of stealing the money. I was very angry and started to talk with them aggressively, but they were answering in a very calm manner. Too calm.

They were saying that they know that I did it, and it was okay, because I have problems at home and need money, they tried to act “understanding,” but I kept saying that it wasn’t me, that I didn’t even touch the money, and they kept pushing it. I asked if they had any evidence besides my “reputation,” and they said that several people said they saw me take the money.

This kept going on and on, every day they would invite me in and keep asking me the same questions and I would deny everything, and basically they would make me stay longer after school and even check my backpack. But NOBODY would believe me, because everybody in school knew the rumor that I stole the money and everybody... believed it.

And to be honest, I was ready to confess. That would be easier than sitting in a small room with three adults who were taking hours of their life to prove that I was a thief and secretly hating me. They said that if I wouldn’t confess, they would have no choice but to expel me.

I went home that day, preparing to say that I had done it the next day. But thankfully, Matt was patiently waiting for me so we could walk home together.

I told him everything and he said that I shouldn’t confess, and I said that they would expel me if I didn’t. Matt laughed and said “No they won’t, they are just bluffing to make you say it. They would call the police if they had any real evidence. They just need someone to blame, and I know that you didn’t take the money.” I asked Matt what I should do then, and he said “Not YOU, what WE should do.”
So basically, he had some kind of a plan. Matt was smarter than me in that sense. He said that we should look closely at the class that was younger than us, the one that was planning the trip. One of them probably took the money and maybe we would notice something.

So we started to “spy” on them, trying to notice anything that was out of the ordinary. We thought it would be hard and time-consuming, but actually, we found the truth in one day.

One kid had a brand new Nintendo Switch. Yeah, maybe his parents bought it for him, but it was more than a coincidence that he had just gotten it and he was showing it off to everyone, surrounding himself with bunch of other guys. And, to boot, the price of it was around the same as the amount of money that was stolen.

I got very angry and was on my way straight to him. Matt stopped me and said that we should be smart about it, to make him confess.

I know I have to introduce myself first here, but unfortunately I can’t. You’ll learn why in the next few minutes. More than that, there are plenty of details in this story that will have to remain secret for safety reasons. I should probably not even tell the story in the first place, but it has all been so hard over the last few weeks, that I just need to get it off my chest. Flashback – two years ago. I’m a regular 14-year-old with no bigger problem than stress at school or being bored on the weekends. I have several really good friends, no enemies, and a great family. It’s just my parents and I. I’ve always known that my dad had something to do with finance, economics and, well... stuff like that. I wasn't that interested, to be honest, I thought it was a regular day job, like most of the other dads have. So I didn't get too suspicious when a couple of men in suits appeared at our house to talk with my dad, who seemed puzzled. But it was hard not to notice that something was wrong when the next time they came… they took my dad with them. Again, I’m sorry I can’t get into details, but the story was that my dad, who had never been any kind of gangster or anything, was involved in a crime. So that night he was basically arrested. He came back pretty soon afterward, because, as I learned later, he had agreed to help in an investigation and… he was now a witness. And apparently he was in danger. I never asked about who these people were that could put us in danger, because I didn’t really wanna know much about what my dad was up to. It’s all over now, and that’s the only thing that matters. Long story short, our family was going to be a part of the witness protection program. And that was when the nightmare started. The first part of us getting into it was not that exciting. We stayed at our house, but there was always a police car outside for our safety. I couldn’t really walk anywhere on my own anymore – I was taken to school and then back home, and basically stayed inside for the rest of the day. I could still visit my friends every once in a while, but I had to keep my mouth shut about the program of course. So, life got more stressful, but compared to what was waiting ahead, it was all no big deal. I did not know it at that time, but while this was happening, things were being prepared to move us to a different part of the country. So imagine how shocked I was to learn one morning that I had to pack my things (only the essentials) because we were leaving that same night! I guess the officials advised my parents to not tell me anything in case I would not be able to keep it a secret. Anyway, at 2 in the morning we got into a van and never looked back. The driver was a man I did not know, who kept silent the whole time, and our coordinator was also with us, in the front seat. We drove for the whole night and then for the next day rarely making any stops. Finally we arrived to a town I had never even heard of before. The house was ready for us, and you could tell that everything was hastily arranged. Everything we needed for life was there but… it was not "home" at all. It was a living space. But it was still okay. I was so exhausted I didn’t care, all I needed was a shower and a bed. And over the next couple of days, I learned how our life was going to change. I… I don’t even know where to start. What we got was basically a new life. We were allowed to keep our first names, but we got a new last name, my dad got a job as an accountant at a fairly small, local company, and I got a place at a new school. Now we had to learn the legend about why we moved to this part of the country, where we used to live, and what my family had done for all these years. And while this was all a little exciting, it was also frightening. It took me several weeks to get used to my new last name, and a couple of times I almost said the old one out loud in class. One of the last things our coordinator told me (he instructed each of us personally) was that the danger was so serious, everyone in our hometown had to think we were dead. So we had to cut all of our ties with friends and relatives. Now, that part was a total shock. A little later I learned that there was even a news story about the three of us dying in a car crash. And local police confirmed it. That meant A LOT of things, but the most shocking one to me was that all my friends now basically thought I was dead, and that I could never (literally - never) see them, text them, or talk to them again. ★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Oh, hi guys! My name is Alex and I`m 14. I want to tell you about a couple of events that completely changed my life. It all started couple years ago, when my parents were getting a divorce, and my mom said that my father wouldn't have the right to see me after that. I have to say, I totally expected something like this to happen. My parents were fighting all the time. Actually, they had been fighting for as long as I can remember. And, for me, they would always play good cop, bad cop. Mom would scold me for something, then dad would buy me ice cream and calm me down. But during their last fight, mom said she that was going to take custody away from my father and even forbid him from seeing me at all. The worst thing is that she would have done it. Dad didn't have a steady job, and he wouldn't have had a place to live after the divorce. So the court definitely would have taken away his custody of me. The next day, my dad came to pick me up from school, and he said that we needed to talk. He told me that I had the right to choose who I wanted to live with, and then offered me the chance to go with him to another city, and start a new life. Of course, I agreed! At that time, my mother was the evil one that wanted to take my father away from me. So we packed up all of our necessary things and were about to leave when I asked, "Shouldn`t we tell mom that we`re leaving?" But dad assured me that he had already talked to her. So that's how I said goodbye to my home. As we were driving on the highway dad told me what we are going to do. He said we would stay at his friend`s house for a week until he found a job, and then we'd rent an apartment, and find a school for me, and then we would deal with all the divorce and custody stuff. Sounded like a plan. Dad was energetic and wound up, and his enthusiasm rubbed off on me. I felt like we would be fine. So I closed my eyes and fell asleep, preparing for something new in my life. We arrived at the house of my father's friend after the sun had set. But unfortunately, he couldn't let us stay with him. He had a family, and obviously there would've been too many of us in the house. Eventually I found out that my dad didn't even bother asking beforehand if his friend would be able to host us. It was late and we were tired, so dad decided that we would stay at a hotel. This didn`t fit into our plan, because staying in a hotel is pretty expensive, and dad had no job. For several days my father went to interviews in search of work. Unfortunately, each time he returned sad - he kept getting turned down over and over again. And soon the moment came. Dad said we were running out of money, and we couldn't afford to stay in a hotel anymore. He tried to stay positive, and convinced me that everything was gonna be alright. But, in reality, we had to live out of our car. It was terribly uncomfortable, but it was necessary in order for us to save money. Day after day we were wandering around the city looking for work. And things kept getting worse and worse. And after one night, I completely lost my enthusiasm. We were running out of gas, and dad came up with a plan. We drove into some kind of parking lot. Dad said he needed my help. He took a can and a hose and rigged up something to drain the gas from someone else's car, and I had to stand watch. After a few minutes, I heard a man yelling, "Hey, what are you doing over there?!" Damn! I didn't notice him, and now he was running toward us. We started to run away, but he was catching up with us. Dad said that he'd hold him, and to meet later at the mall nearby. In fear, I just ran in a random direction, and a second later I heard the sound of a falling canister. I was scared to even think about what was happening to my dad. Ten minutes later, I was sitting on a bench in the mall, out of breath. Soon my father came. Oh my God, he looked terrible. His clothes were dirty, his jacket sleeve was torn, and his face had a huge bruise. It was awful! It turned out that the guy who was chasing us was a parking lot security guy, and he wanted to detain my father, but thankfully he was able to escape. Ok, dad was fine, but now all our stuff was in the car, and there was no way to get to it, `cause the security guy had probably called the police. So we had no money, no food, no water, and no place to sleep. We walked through the empty streets, hungry and tired. Not to mention that I hadn't showered in five days. Soon I was just falling over my own feet, and dad said we were going to spend the night in the park, and that tomorrow we'd figure something out. Dad woke me up and said an unexpected phrase: "Son, I have great news!" Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

My Friend Gets A Because Our Teacher Has A Secret Affair I Told Everyone
My Friend Gets A Because Our Teacher Has A Secret Affair I Told Everyone

by ACTUALLY HAP...

Hi everybody! Would you like to hear something really unbelievable? I am only twelve years old, I have just entered my first year of middle school, but I have already seriously framed my teacher, my best friend, and even her mother. To tell you the truth, I have to admit that I did not mean to do it.It was just a coincidence. Everybody calls me Sam. But my Mom calls me SAMANTHA, and every time I hear this, I get chills down my spine! Brrrr. You know, my mother is very strict and very careful about numerous rules that HAVE to be observed. Usually she invents all these rules by herself. For example, every Friday night, our big family absolutely HAS to get together and go to my mom's favorite restaurant. My mom calls it the “Great Dinner” pronouncing it so strictly and meaningfully that you realize that there is no trace of even the slightest hope of abandoning or escaping it. So, one Friday evening, during another extremely boring and dull “Great Dinner,” I was sitting at the table at the restaurant, yawning, and idly picking at some tasteless pasta with a fork. Mom was talking about something loudly, and I was just wishing that all of this would come to an end as soon as possible. It could have been just another ordinary and horrible family evening... if I didn't notice Monica’s mother sitting at one of the neighboring tables. Oh, I totally forgot to introduce you. Monica is my school friend I spoke about at the beginning. I would go to her house all the time and I knew her mother pretty well, so I thought that I should go up to her and say hello. But my plans changed drastically when I looked at the man Monica’s mother was having dinner with. It was Mr. Fitzpatrick! Can you imagine? Mr. Fitzpatrick! Oh, sorry. I forgot again, that you don't know who that is. Mr. Fitzpatrick is my social science teacher. I do not like his class, and Mr. Fitzpatrick himself is not a person who I would like to talk to in the presence of my mother, so I tried to hide myself behind a napkin to make sure that they didn't notice me. I knew that Monica's mother was single. And I still remember a very ugly story that happened when Monica and I were still in elementary school. It was a time when Monica’s parents were in the middle of their divorce proceedings. Ouch, even now I don’t want to think about that! But I will tell you anyway. When Monica's mom and dad filed for their divorce, they could not come to an agreement about where Monica would stay. They were literally trying to slice their daughter as if she were a piece of pie. There was some kind of murky story about the court hearing and the judge’s decision regarding the custody of Monica, but I don’t remember the details, because at that time I was only a nine-year-old kid and did not understand much about, well, all these strange things that adults do. One day when we were at school, Monica's dad showed up in the middle of the school day, and demanded that the teacher let Monica go with him. The teacher, of course, knew about the divorce procedure that Monica's parents were undergoing and knew that something sketchy was going on there. So she refused. But Monica's dad was very persistent! He made a huge scene in front of all the students and teachers! The teacher even wanted to call the police, because some of the classes, including our class, had to be canceled thanks to Monica's dad ... however, we kids were not too upset about this. Then Monica's mother came to school, and the scene continued, but later they somehow managed to settle their problems. It seemed that Monica had finally firmly answered that she wanted to stay with her mother, and that she did not want her father to harass them any longer. After this, Monica's father was so angry with her that he still does not want to see her or even talk to her. And when my mother found out about this drama, which totally left an impression at our calm and boring school, she was very strict... regarding Monica’s mother. Mom said that a DECENT woman would never allow this to happen, especially IN PUBLIC. My mother did not forbid me to stay friends with Monica, but she did not even want to talk to Monica’s mother. When I would go over to Monica's house, and my mother would come to pick me up, she would always wait for me in the car outside. So I had multiple reasons to not draw my mom's attention to this couple. But I still continued to watch them — well, anyway, it was definitely much more exciting than listening to how my family talked about themselves. And it was only the beginning of the show there! In less than five minutes, Monica's mom and Mr. Fitzpatrick... started kissing! New 2019 animated stories that actually happened! ★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? I Know How To Make Lots Of Money When You Are 12

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j This is Alan! You know what’s cooler than having a ton of money? Knowing how to make even more. And Alan knows how! You probably straight away think that he must be full of himself, so let him tell you his story. He’s 17 now, but this all happened when he was 12. So, Alan’s family is not very well off. They’re so poor that he wore the same shoes for an entire year, no matter whether it was raining or snowing. But those were good shoes; like, very durable ones. Like, they were the Iron Man of shoes – nothing could destroy them. They were much better than his brother’s, which made his feet hurt sometimes. But still, Alan’s shoes were veeery ugly, and he really wanted new ones. He dreamed of getting these sneakers that he’d seen once in a store. You may think that this was shallow – but remember that he was only 12 at the time. And in any case there was no way he could act on his wish to buy those shoes. He didn’t have any money! So you might think that he eventually gave up on the idea...but nope, not really. He started thinking that if he could just find a way of somehow making money, he could buy those shoes. And they weren’t cheap… His dad was always saying that he should study harder than he himself had, so that he could have a better life, and both Alan and his younger brother really took that advice to heart. He was a really diligent student and spent so much time studying. He got good grades but had no money, whereas plenty of his classmates got bad grades but had a lot of money. So Alan made them an offer – he would do their homework in exchange for money. Not a lot of money, but enough to save up and buy those sneakers after a couple of months. It was a pretty easy task for him, because basically, all he had to do was copy out his homework for them, changing it just a little so that nobody would know. He even had different prices for As, Bs, and other grades. And he also helped the older kids a little with some of their subjects – not like, math, but literature and history. Alan’s scheme went great at first, but then almost everybody stopped paying. He wondered why, and it turned out that they had made one guy pay and then copied his homework. He had to find a way to fix this, so he told them that if they were going do that, he would have to raise the price. They didn’t like that, but they also didn’t want to do their own homework, so they agreed and everything went back to normal. But then one of the guys wasn’t happy about it, and he actually revealed everything to the teacher. The teacher was very angry with Alan, and warned him that he had to stop doing it or else he and the other guys would have a lot of problems. So, he had to stop...but he still hadn't saved up enough to buy the sneakers he wanted. So of course, he came up with a new plan. Because many of the older kids now knew who he was, and their teachers didn’t know about his tricks, he asked them to give him cool stuff in exchange for their homework. You know – like toys, action figures, simple gadgets. He would then start playing with them in class, making it look like he was having a lot of fun. To be honest, it WAS fun. And, if someone asked him if they could play with something, he would say no, which made them want it more and more. Then at some point he would rent it to them or even sell it. Soon, he was buying stuff from the older kids and selling it for more money, instead of doing their homework. But of course, sooner or later their parents started to notice, and the teacher got angry with him again, saying that he was abusing the other children and it wasn’t okay. He disagreed, because they were very happy with all of it and henever like, forced them to buy anything. Eventually, he finally had enough money to buy the sneakers he had dreamed of for so long. So Alan bought them and went home. Finally, all his hard work had paid off, and even if he had found himself in a lot of trouble, he still ended up with what he wanted. Then he saw his brother’s shoes – they were in a way worse state than his, and he remembered how many times his brother had told him how much his feet hurt, and he was constantly sick because his shoes had a lot of holes in them and got wet every time he stepped in a puddle. So he gave the sneakers to his brother, and he was so happy and surprised. Honestly, it was much better to see his brother happy than to keep them for himself. His parents were angry at him at first, because they thought he had stolen them, but he then explained how he got them. And then they were proud of him because they thought he had done it all for his brother. He didn’t tell them that it had originally all been for himself, though. I Made My Mom Choose Me Or My Stepdad She Chose Him
I Made My Mom Choose Me Or My Stepdad She Chose Him

by ACTUALLY HAP...

Hi fellas! I’m Anthony. Recently, I finished ninth grade, but I'll never go to high school because my mom decided to send me to military school. And the worst thing is that she did it just to get rid of me. You see, I know I'm just a burden to my mom. Since dad left us, mom has been miserable and unhappy, and I was just a reminder of the mistakes of the past. Plus, she couldn't have a new relationship because having a kid scared a lot of men away. She often went on dates and tried to build a relationship, but as soon as she said that she had a child, her boyfriend would disappear at the click of your fingers. Naturally, this upset my mother even more. So imagine how she glowed with happiness when she finally had a boyfriend who had serious intentions, and he was not afraid to take responsibility for a child, meaning me. At first, he came to our house occasionally for dinner, and he seemed like a normal guy. His name was Greg. He was a military man, and he had all the qualities of an officer. He had a loud commanding voice, was incredibly punctual, and he just loved discipline. My mother loved Greg very much, and she said that I could learn a lot from him. Well, one thing is to rarely communicate with a man like this, but it's a whole other thing when he lives with you, and you have nowhere to run from his control. Yeah, soon Greg moved in with us, and our house saw a lot of changes. It all started slowly. At first, he just helped my mother and closely monitored the cleanliness of the house, but then he began to establish his own rules and started giving orders to me. He told me when I should go to sleep and when to wake up. And I didn't like this at all. I complained to my mother about it, but she took his side, and she said that some discipline would do me good. Then Greg started making me play sports. He made me get up at six in the morning and go for a run. Do I even have to say that I didn't want to do this at all? But my mother supported Greg again. You know, I thought she was just afraid to contradict him because she was afraid he would leave. So I fought him on my own. But all my arguments with him were unsuccessful.  Once, during another run, I was left alone with him. He was probably tired of my constant protests against him, and he wanted to put an end to them. So Greg told me that I had to follow his orders without question and that he was now in charge of our house. And he demanded that I answer him as a soldier. He yelled at me and threatened me until I finally said, "Yes, sir." I thought that after that he was going to laugh like a villain in the movies. It was humiliating. And this disgusting man says he's in charge now? Oh no, man. I wasn't going to tolerate that. This man had established a dictatorship in our house, and mom wasn`t going to do anything about it. Since then, his bullying became constant. Greg tried to restrain himself in front of my mother and not yell at me. But as soon as she left, he'd either ignored me or find a reason to punish me for something. The usual punishment was cleaning the already perfectly clean house. If I said something wrong at dinner, or just ate for too long, I was punished. And while mom and Greg watched TV, I washed the dishes and the kitchen completely. And it was better to agree to a light punishment. Because when I started arguing, I was kept under house arrest for days. And that didn't mean that I just sat at home and couldn't go out with my friends. Greg's version of house arrest is when he locked me in my room, took my phone, and turned off the internet. I could only go to the toilet and eat. Thank God he let me even do that. Greg shouldn't have punished me like that, because I had a lot of time to figure out how to get back at him. And during another house arrest, I came up with a great revenge plan that would help me to get rid of him forever. To do that, I had to break up Greg and my mom. ★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, guys. My name is Daniel. Here`s what I want to talk about. My dad went missing for almost a year and I feel guilty about it. I`ll start from the very beginning. My dad was the most positive person on earth. For as long as I can remember, he was always glowing with happiness. But everything changed after one incident about a year ago. He didn't come home from work one night. At first, my mom and I thought that everything was ok. But he still hadn't shown up at nine o'clock that evening. That's when we began to call our friends and his colleagues. No one knew where dad could be. Then mom found dad's boss's phone number, and we called him. He surprised us a lot when he said that that day, my dad didn't show up at work, and didn't answer his phone calls. It was then that we really began to worry. What's happening? Where was he all day? We called the police, and two officers came to us and started asking us questions about my father. Soon afterward they found him. He was in the hospital, so my mother and I rushed there. When we got to the hospital and finally saw him, he was asleep. He was covered in scratches and bruises, there were pieces of glass in his clothes, and his shirt sleeve was almost torn off. The doctors said that he had a concussion and could have some sort of short-term memory loss. But everything else was fine. Officers said they found him outside the city. Looks like he was driving at a high speed, lost control, and his car ended up in a ditch. He was very lucky that he survived this accident. We spent the whole night in the hospital and when dad woke up we asked him what happened. And his answer shocked us: he said that he flew off the road because he was hit by another car. It was a serious allegation, so the police started an investigation. They came to our house a few times and asked a lot of questions. About a month later, they sent us a letter with their expert’s conclusion. According to this letter, the car didn`t have any traces of paint from another vehicle. To put it simply – no one had rammed my father's car. Dad was angry, he complained about the police inaction, and insisted that he was telling the truth. But my mom was upset. She believed the police and thought that my dad was lying and hiding something. Besides, where was he all day? Why didn't he go to work? To these questions he replied that he just didn't remember. So my parents sometimes fought about it. And I didn't know who was right. But I knew that dad was acting weird. He always covered the windows with curtains, his phone was often turned off. It seemed like… he was afraid of something, but he wouldn`t say what. In general, the atmosphere in the house was strange. But then something happened that really scared me. I was home after school doing my homework when I heard the front door slam loudly. I went down and saw my father. He looked scared – he had huge eyes and could barely breathe. When he caught his breath he finally said: "I saw her again, that car!" Then he ran up to the table and began to write something on a piece of paper. He tried to remember the car`s license plate number, but he couldn't. Dad was really worked up. He nervously walked around the house saying that mom will finally believe him now. But she didn't. After all, there was no evidence. So they just bickered again. And I can understand mom. Her husband is acting strange, obviously hiding something. Of course, she didn`t believe his words. Since then, dad has spent a lot of time on the computer. He was googling something, printing some articles. In the garage he hung up a board, where he attached various photos and documents. He even installed security cameras around the house! Apparently, he was determined to prove to me and my mom that he was right. It looked more like paranoia, but this is my dad – he always goes all out. And so we lived like this for two months. In the evenings, dad sat in the garage and watched the video from the cameras. I kept hoping dad would admit that he was wrong, or finally tell us why he didn`t go to work that day. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

I’m Adam, I’m 23 years old, and I’m still trying to finish high school. My family has always been caring and loving, but we barely made enough money for a comfortable living. My Dad worked several jobs just to keep us afloat, and my Mom worked a lot too. I didn't even have time to think about my grades or school. I decided to find some unofficial work. I still went to school, and afterward I would work small jobs like loading crates or helping my mom with her janitorial work. I tried a lot of different jobs during this time, all the while my teachers would get angry at me for being far behind with my grades and assignments. So I decided to not bother them anymore and to just drop out school. I had enough money to help my family and even had a little left over for myself. As soon as I turned 18, I found a job at a metal factory, and since I already had two years of work experience under my belt, I learned the job fast. I worked hard and didn’t talk much. A perfect worker. Soon I got so useful that my boss let me browse through my phone while there was nothing to do. It was a big privilege. During my free time I would hang out with my friends, many of whom were musicians, so at a lot of concerts, and well, bars. My only passion was soccer, I would watch every game and championship very closely, and that was my escape from my life's troubles. Sadly, my Father passed away. We were at the hospital, me, my mom, and my siblings, we were all crying and trying to make sense of everything. I promised to bring in as much money as I could, but my mom suddenly stopped me and said, “Adam, don’t ruin your life, this is not what your Father would have wanted for you. Go back to school, I'm begging you!’. I… didn’t want to, but I realized that my Mom was right. So I returned to school, reducing my hours at the factory, instead of quitting altogether. My first day at school was... weird. The teacher introduced me in front of the entire class, and everyone was just staring at me like I was an alien. She asked me to tell everyone a little bit about myself, and I said “hi…I’m Adam and I’m old.” Some people giggled, but most of them were still just staring, weirded out. During my first few days, nobody would talk to me, and I was okay with that, I would just stare out the window during breaks. One day, a group of guys and girls came up to me and started asking me why I was going to school at my age. I answered with cheesy jokes, like “Oh, I just forgot about school one day and then was like oh yeah, school, I should go there.” People giggled, and started asking me a lot questions about my jobs and stuff. I guess I got kinda popular. TOO popular. One girl in particular liked me and tried to sit with me during any subject we had together or in the cafeteria. She was asking a lot about me and I answered with my usual cheesy jokes, and she'd laugh way too hard at them. I didn’t want any problems, so I tried to sit away from her and limit our chats without hurting her feelings. But every time I sat away, she would find me and sit right next to me, like a Yo-Yo. Work sent me a little curveball too. At my usual late shift my boss came to me, patted me on my shoulder and said, “Adam, how about a raise?” I said, “Yeah, that would be nice!” and he told me how much I could earn, and then he ended with, “...of course you'd have to return to work full time.” I said I couldn’t do that because I had school. His smile immediately changed to a frown. “Okay, then you can’t use your phone during your shifts anymore”. Uh-oh. My grades at school weren’t great, because I had to balance it with work. So I was failing everywhere – at school and at my work. I was waking up, going to school, then to work right afterward and I only slept for like 3-5 hours every day, even on the weekends. I couldn’t pay attention in school or at work. Teachers were understanding of my situation, but they also noticed how much this girl was clinging to me and they were suspiciously looking at us every time we sat together. Also, every time I saw my boss at work, he would say something like, “you’re getting slower, Adam… you should be grateful that I’m still letting you work here.” After the hundredth time of him saying something like that, I stood up and said, “Okay, bye then.” As I was walking away, he followed me and was saying “come on, Adam, you know you won’t find anything better, you should be grateful for what you have…” at this point I snapped and shouted at him with…and not with very nice words. But his words stuck with me, like how he said, “You know you won’t find anything better.” I took it too close to heart and stopped going to school too. I Got Suspended Because Of My Hair
I Got Suspended Because Of My Hair

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, this is Nancy, and some time ago she was suspended for dying her hair. It all began when she was feeling a bit down and wanted to experience something new. So she thought to herself, “how about dying my hair?” She talked about it with her parents, and they were okay with it. After a while she dyed her hair pink, and she LOVED it. She looked so different, so bright and colorful. And she immediately got so much attention at school! Suddenly, she was called into the principal's office. She had never had any problems in school before6 but he was waiting for her with a stern look on his face. He started to ask her questions about her hair, like why she did it and what she was trying to prove. She tried to explain that she just wanted to express myself, but he said it was unacceptable in school. She was confused, because nobody had ever told her that there was a rule against dying your hair. In fact, there was NO rule like that, but it seemed that some teachers who didn’t like her had started to complain. Then he said to her that she was suspended from school until her hair returned to its normal color. That was absolutely insane! She tried to reason with him, trying to explain that it wouldn't come off for at least a month, and she couldn’t miss a month of school, but he didn’t change his opinion. You would think it was cool not having school for an entire month or even more, but it just meant that she would need to work even harder when she got back, or, even worse, she would need to repeat a year of school. Once she got home, she called her parents and explained the situation. She was panicking, and they told her that they would talk about it once they returned from work. Nancy’s parents are very rational people, so they said that they would go and talk with the principal about the situation and they would find a solution. After they had a meeting with him, they told her that he hadn’t been very constructive, and said that he wouldn’t accept her back until she had a “normal” hair color. Her parents asked her what she wanted to do, and she said that she disagreed with his decision and that she would keep going to school, because she didn’t want to lose her chance of having a normal education because of her HAIR COLOR. So, the next day, Nancy proudly walked into school. She saw respect in the other students’ eyes. During that time, she became a real hero at her school. The teachers were clearly uncomfortable with the situation, but most of them decided to not tell the principal and quietly let her into the classroom, and then act like they didn’t know what was happening. But one of them IMMEDIATELY went to the principal, and he was so angry. He called her into his office, and told that this kind of behaviour would lead to her being expelled. She was super scared, but then she said: “This is unfair and I don’t deserve to be treated like this, there was no rule against dying my hair when I did it.” He called her parents and informed that the school board would decide the matter of her expulsion within a month, and she would still be suspended during that time. At home, her parents told they were proud of her for standing up for herself. They asked her again if she was sure that there was no rule against colored hair when she did it, and she was absolutely sure about it. Then they said that if the principal remained as unhelpful as he was, they would try to find a lawyer to provide legal help for them. To her surprise, several teachers called her and said that they were on her side, but the principal wouldn’t let her off the hook so easily. They offered private tutoring, which was also quite surprising, but that just made her want to stay in school even more. But it didn’t stop there. A lot of students started to text her about how unfair it was. And then...several of them also dyed their hair in protest. Also, her parents talked with the lawyer, and she explained that if the rule about hair had been added only after she dyed it, then the situation was clearly unfair and they could press charges. Her parents explained this to the principal, and it seemed to have an effect. And besides, he couldn’t just start suspending everyone who supported her, so he was forced to let her come back to school. Her parents asked her if she wanted to change schools, and she said no. She had been convinced by the idea that her school had really good teachers, and she had made so many new friends there who had supported her when she was in a difficult situation. It’s funny how when she had wanted to experience something new in life, to change herself, it turned out to be something much more fundamental than her hair color.
