Hey, guys! My name is Chris. Today I have finally decided to tell you this story. You all probably used to play in a treehouse or a fort when you were a kid. Little did I know that one day I would find something that would turn the lives of everyone I love upside down, in my treehouse.

My parents have always been very decent people, so the purpose of their life was to raise worthy and well-mannered children. Sadly for them, it didn't work with me. I have always been a wild child. I was neither a good student nor a right-minded young man. Unlike my older sister Molly. She would do everything to please our mom and dad. Her reputation at school was spotless. Looks and smarts! But everybody's got a skeleton in their closet.

This all happened when my sister was in her last year of school. It was such a big moment for our family – so many plans and expectations. My sister seemed to be really happy and excited, but I saw that there was something wrong with her. First , I noticed that she stopped eating in the mornings and even mom's pancakes, which were her favorite, could not tempt her to eat a bite. She looked tired and exhausted all the time. When I asked her what was going on, she told me she was studying hard day and night to try to get into college. And I found that answer to be reasonable and comforting, but there was still something else.

One night, I heard her talking with her boyfriend Tim. And as far as I could hear, it was not a pleasant conversation. And for the record, I was the only person who knew my sister actually had a boyfriend. This secret was shared with me in the strictest confidence from our parents. When I asked her what had happened, she just said: ""He is not my type."" Not her type? They've been madly in love with each other for such a long time! I just didn't get it! But then it got worse.

Molly became so irritable and any little thing would just set her off. We didn't go for walks or watch movies at night anymore, though we have always been really honest and close to each other. Now she would rather spend her time in bed with a huge plate of sandwiches. It looked like my sister had gotten depressed. Really depressed. I was totally convinced that Tim was to blame. Did he offend her or treat her badly? Whatever happened between those two, I had to figure it all out. I got in touch with Tim and he agreed to meet me. To my surprise I found him lost and heartbroken. He had no idea why Molly had booted him all of a sudden and he hoped I was going to give him some kind of an explanation. So I was left with the suspense killing me even more.

Then one day my sister came up to me and said: "We have to talk." First we were walking silently, but then she asked: "Do you remember the treehouse we used to play in when we were little? I wonder if it's still there." Of course, I remembered. We easily found it and got inside. It was still the same. We had a lot of happy memories in that place. I was so happy to see my sister smiling again, when she suddenly said: "I'm not going to go to college, Chris. Don't tell mom and dad. And please don't be sad when I leave." These words just left me completely speechless. What on Earth could force my sister to make that decision?! Why and where did she want to go? No matter how I tried to get the truth out of her she refused to tell me. Molly's words tortured me all night, and it didn't take her long to turn them into reality.

The next day she didn't come back from school on time. When my mom called her, we heard the phone ring from her room. We went upstairs to see that her room was a complete mess. The closet was almost empty and my sister's phone was sitting on the night stand and ringing. Our father called Molly's teacher and it turned out that she hadn't even been to school that day. My parents were absolutely shocked and discouraged. They immediately asked me if I knew anything about it. I couldn't bottle it up inside myself anymore and told them the whole story right away. Mom almost fainted. She never had the slightest idea that anything was wrong with her little girl. She wanted to call the police at once, but my dad was more reasonable. He didn't want to spoil my sister's reputation, so we decided to start looking for her ourselves first. I called Tim and all of Molly's friends, but nobody knew where she was. Mom was on the phone all day long and dad was driving around the neighborhood.

It was already getting dark, but Molly never showed up. I was in despair. The thought that I would never see my sister again was killing me. So I was just wandering around when I found myself not far from our treehouse.

We all are aware of the great impact that the internet has had on our lives nowadays. It has changed my life dramatically as well. I wanna tell you now about the most awful truth that was revealed to me on the internet. I was born into a family of two amazing historians and archaeologists, who were really into their work. We've always lived out of suitcases and trunks because my parents took part in excavations all over the world. It was amazing to move from one ancient cultural place to another and to learn about new people, their culture, their language, and their history. Of course it was hard to get used to a new home, school, and lifestyle, and deep inside I hoped we would settle somewhere one day. And besides, I never had those normal things that most kids my age had and used every day. We never had a TV or the internet. In some places we couldn't even use our phones because there was no service, but it never actually bothered me much. I always used to think that I had a very happy childhood. But everything changed one day. We lived in a small village in India, and my parents were working day and night. They would leave early in the morning and come back home very late. Once my mother came back alone. She looked really worried and nervous and she told to me that my dad had set off on an extremely important business trip and that she would have to join him soon, and that I couldn't go with them. I was going to be staying with my grandparents. She said we were leaving immediately and that I had to go pack as quickly as I could. Shock didn't even begin to describe it all. Nothing like that had ever happened before. We flew out on a red-eye to Austin, the city where my grandma and grandpa lived. Sure, I was excited to see my grandparents, but even though my mom had tried to persuade me that everything was OK, I still had some worries. I had a wonderful time at grandma and grandpa's, but my mom literally left the same day that we had arrived. She promised that they would come for me in two weeks, but it never happened. My grandparents told me that mom and dad had to work on something really important and they would be coming a little later than they had expected. And also my grandma said that my parents' business trip was not a reason for me to lie around all day. She told me that my parents had wanted me to go to boarding school. That was really frightening! I have never gone to a big, modern school in a big American city! But I tried to persuade myself that it was just going to be a new gripping experience. So, I waved goodbye and set off for boarding school. It turned out to be so unusual and strange at first. The school was enormous and there were electronic displays everywhere. All my classmates were always staring at their phones or discussing subjects that I couldn't even have a conversation about. I would often hear giggles behind my back when I tried to study on the computer in the library or when I asked some stupid questions about the things that are pretty common in the modern world. I wished they would ask about African tribal customs or ask me to speak Mandarin Chinese. The only person I managed to make friends with was Olivia, my roommate. She was so amazed by the fact that I'd spent my whole life away from the civilized world. She would ask me questions all night long, to the point that we both were sleepy before our lessons the next day. But she also tried to get me involved in everything that was going on at school and to make me more... modern. She helped me with all the devices and told me which was more important – she even taught me how to use the internet. My parents have always been pretty conservative and told me that there was nothing special about it. They encouraged me to read books instead. But I felt like a completely new world had opened up for me. I could look up any information there to learn anything that I wanted. I started to spend a lot of time on the internet, I made new friends, and became part of my school community. Time was going by, but I still had not heard from my parents. I never even spoke to Olivia about them until it was time for our holiday break. She told me she was going to spend her holidays in the mountains with her parents and asked me: “Where are you going, Kiera? Where are your mom and dad going to take you this time?" I burst into tears and told her the whole story. But Olivia didn't seem to be discouraged. She said: "Come on, we've got the internet! If your parents are famous archaeologists, we can easily find them! Let's look it up there!" So, we went to the library and started the search. And it didn't take long. I'm Hailey and I'm 13 years old. Since early childhood, we're all aware of what Good and Evil means. And I want to tell you a story about the darkest evil I have ever faced in my life. It all started after I had undergone heart surgery. I'd been waiting for that surgery since I was born and it went pretty well, so it was actually a very happy moment for me and a fresh start. I definitely needed a calm space to recover in, so my parents suggested that I spend my summer break at my aunt's farmhouse. Her family lived in a small, quaint town in California. I was really looking forward to that visit and I received a very warm welcome. My aunt is a nice woman who also has two children – Jemmie who is my age and little Luke. I thought we were going to have a lot of fun. But, I wasn't that lucky. At first, everything was perfect. Everybody was so happy for me and tried to help and encourage me. My uncle was very busy at work, and my aunt spent a lot of time with Luke, because he stuttered when he talked and she had to take him to speech therapy almost every day. So, I spent most of my time with Jemmie. My father used to say Jemmie was a golden child, his mother's first helper and his dad's right hand. And he has always been nice to me too. So, he showed me around the town and told me about his school. He was so self-confident and fearless. I admired him! He reminded me of Peter Pan, but then... I started noticing some strange things about him. He was so nice at home, but when we were alone he would complain about how annoying his little brother was and how stupid and useless his parents were all the time. I know all teenagers do that, but... One day we were passing by our neighbors' house and their dog started barking at us from behind the fence. The dog was big, so I got a little bit scared, but not Jemmie. He got closer to the fence, kneeled down, and started barking back at the dog and laughing hysterically! You probably could have taken it as an awkward joke, but I saw his face. He was so pleased that it seemed like there was nothing funnier in the world than to tease this dog. On the way back home he said: "Should we feed some arsenic to that dog tomorrow?" A nervous giggle was the only response I could muster. I was trying to persuade myself that there was nothing to worry about and decided not to bother my aunt with that story. But I couldn't stop thinking about it every day. A few days later when we were wandering around, Jemmie suddenly said: "Ugh, it's so boring! Do you want to have some real fun?" I was about to say no, when he grabbed my hand and dragged me somewhere away from home. We ran for a long time, but then he stopped. I was surprised, because we were standing on a small bridge over a highway, and I could only guess what "fun" we were supposed to have there. Jemmie opened his backpack and I saw that it was full of rocks, really big ones. And then I saw a van approaching us. He squeezed me and said happily: "Watch now!" Everything happened so fast... He threw one of his rocks and it didn't miss the van. The rock hit the windshield of the car. The driver hit the brakes and the car stopped. I heard a little baby cry. I was just standing there frozen, with my mouth wide open, unable to say a word. And Jemmie was laughing his head off! But then he whispered to me: "Run!" I had no idea what I was doing, I was running and I felt tears flowing down my face. Why didn't I do anything? It was like a horrible hypnosis! When we finally stopped, Jemmie asked me triumphantly: "How did you like the show? The show?! There were children in that car and they were probably hurt and scared, and he was calling it, ""A show!"" I told him he had gone absolutely crazy! I also said he had to tell his parents about what he had done or otherwise I would do it. But he remained calm, smiled evilly, and coldly replied: ""I didn't do it alone. You did it with me and didn't even try to stop me. Your mom and dad would love to hear that story."" I was just stunned. From that moment I had no doubt there was something completely wrong with Jemmie and I had to do something. I couldn't find the courage to speak to my aunt. Even if I did, she would never believe me, because Jemmie turned out to be a perfect actor. He's been playing the role of a good son for years. " "So, I started my own investigation. I had to find some proof of his deeds and expose him, but he was extremely careful. I followed my cousin's every step and noticed that he was spending two to three hours, typing something on his laptop every night. I had to know what was on that laptop, it was my only chance. But I would never be able to do it without a password. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

I’m Irene. Recently I had a really weird experience where I met a guy and even fell in love with him, but I doubted we were destined to be together. Our story is still in question, so to speak, and this makes me feel a little bit frustrated. Here's why. On our way to the mall Iris kept singing the same baby-song over and over again. It was really irritating but when I asked her to stop doing it, she not only ignored me, but got even louder. Jesus, I’d rather be dead than ever have my own kids, I thought! And our mom was so caught up in her own thoughts that the song seemed to not even distract her at all. I was texting my best friend, complaining about my lame Saturday. And she was texting me back trying to cheer me up by reminding me of the coming spring break. By the time we’d reached our destination point I’d begun to think that my act of generosity with Iris had better be worth it. Mom was in a total hurry while leaving the two of us on the playground and she even took my cellphone from me. She said otherwise I would be totally into texting, instead of watching my little sister. Come on! Nothing was going to be able to save that day, I thought. Here I was, sitting on the bench and watching how Iris was playing with the kinetic sand, thinking my weekend was totally ruined, when a little baby boy came up to me, apparently looking for me to play with him. He didn't actually talk, 'cause it seemed like he was only around a year and a half old. Oh gosh, not another baby, I thought, or rather not his mom, who would want to come up and talk to me, melting because of the fact that he might have liked me or something. But guess what? This baby boy was not there with a mom, but a brother, a big and handsome brother. His name was Andrew, as he'd told me when he came up to me, and took his little brother in his arms. Suddenly, I felt like my day was about to be saved for now. We had a nice little talk about the kids around and the stuff they do. I was starting to like him and I had a feeling that he was at least interested in me. I hadn’t even noticed that the time had gone by really fast and that my mom had already returned. I saw her waving at me, saying it was time to go. And when I stood up from the bench, Andrew suggested exchanging numbers. At first I forgot that my mom had previously taken away my phone. So I thought that I had lost it and started searching for it... crawling on my knees under the bench. Of course, I remembered everything after a couple of seconds, but you know, I already felt embarrassed. Andrew laughed when I told him where my phone was and promised to send me a text so that I had his number. When I came up to my mom, she gave me my cell phone back with a cunning smile. There was already a text saying, “I like your sisters’ older sister.” On our way back home Iris was singing that stupid song again, but surprisingly, that time it wasn’t annoying at all. During the whole next week, Andrew and I were frequently texting each other saying good morning and stuff like that. He was really interested in my life, I guess, because he was mainly asking questions about me and practically not saying a word about himself. Nevertheless, I found out that he was a little bit older than me, that he had already graduated from school, and that now he was working to make some money to go to college and study law. He was amazing, I thought, because of his nice texts and jokes, and by Friday I already felt like I was totally in love with him. Then he suggested for both of us to take our younger siblings and meet and the park all together. He said that we could get to know each other better while the kids played in the fresh air. Why not, I thought. By the way, my mom was extremely surprised, though pleased when I said that I wanted to take Iris to the park. Now she’d definitely let me go to that beach party. We had a great time at the park together, and I was totally sure that Andrew felt the same way that I did. But you know what was strange? I always thought that when a guy, especially a guy who’s practically 20 years old, likes a girl, that he would want to go on a date with her, I mean, for just two of them, you know. But he didn’t ask me out even that next week. It sort of stressed me out, but I didn’t want to create drama from it, so I said nothing to him and we just kept texting during the whole next week. But I kept thinking it over and at some point I decided to ask my mom’s opinion about what was going on. I regretted it as soon as I did it, because she was sort of negative about him since he was almost 20 and I was only 16, you know mom stuff. SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j My name is Cynthia. I am 13 years old, and I live with my mother and father. Well, I mean, until recently that's what I thought. My mother is pregnant and will soon give birth to my brother. No… it's not like that. Oh, let me start over from the beginning! Just six months ago we were an absolutely normal and happy family. Only my grandmother Pamela, my father’s mother, and my mother had a pretty cold relationship. You know, they both pretended that the other just didn’t exist! But it was always this way, and I had gotten used to it. Whenever we were going to visit my grandmother we would always do it together with my father, and my mother wouldn’t join us. My grandmother can’t be called the most sweet and nice person to communicate with, but I always knew that she was really very kind. The only thing about her that I saw was that she was sad because she lived alone. Right when I was about to be born, my grandfather and her divorced – he went to Europe and we haven't heard from him since. Well, at least that was the story I heard when I was little and when I asked. And then when I grew up- I stopped asking. My parents wanted a second child badly, but for a long time they were unsuccessful. When my mother finally got pregnant, we were all so happy! And then my father made us even more happy when he said that after the baby was born, we would move to the new house, a bigger and better one! Life was beautiful! But something went wrong. After a few months, I noticed that my parents became more and more nervous and upset. When I asked what was going on, they just brushed me off. So I decided to call granny Pam and ask what was wrong. My grandmother said that I was already big enough to know and explained that my father took out a mortgage for the house, but that something had gone wrong with the business, and now he was having trouble paying it off. She also added that the best thing I could do was to spare my father from questions since he was feeling bad enough already. So, I couldn't get any answers from my father — no questions, because I didn't want to make him feel worse, but I couldn't ask my mother either – I had no right to get her worried, because it could harm the baby. All I could do was guess – will everything be alright or will we soon be thrown out on the street and become beggars? So I thought that maybe I could learn to sing and dance in order to earn money to feed my little baby brother and myself. My mom and dad became more and more sad and irritated with each passing day. And they still didn't tell me anything. So I decided to eavesdrop on what they were talking about. I know it's not good, but didn’t I have a right to know what was going on? You know, at the beginning, I did not understand what they were talking about. They sounded very nervous and argued about something connected to money and… my grandfather. I listened and listened and finally I understood! It turned out that my grandfather had recently died. He had left a will and according to this will, I was the one who inherited all the big money he left! But only under the condition that I would read some letter. Frankly speaking, I was so happy that I almost left my secret hideout, screaming, "...of course, this legacy will solve all of our problems!" But I didn't do it because I understood that my parents did not want me to read the letter. Even though they kept repeating that we needed this money very, very badly. I quietly returned to my room, went to bed, and while I was still awake I was thinking that my parents should not worry – I was a big girl now and whatever my grandfather had written in that letter wouldn’t scare me, and I will be able to help my family with all the money he left me. And on the next day I said all of this out loud, right away at breakfast. I thought they would be happy… but they looked shocked and seemed totally unwilling to even talk about it. Then I called Granny Pam and told her everything. But you know… my grandmother reacted very strangely. She started to laugh. But at the same time she didn't sound as if she had found any of this actually funny at all. Finally she said: "Of course, my dear, I will come over now and do my best to convince them." And she really did come to visit – I think for the first time in my life. But it did not make me happy at all. She looked threatening and … triumphant for some reason. And she talked to my parents as if she was deriving some dark, unkind satisfaction from the whole situation. But she really did manage to persuade them. She said, "Did you really think that you could keep this a secret forever?" and she started laughing again, but I noticed tears in her eyes. This is gonna be a story of my first love which is now a taboo subject in my family. Everything started a few months ago and it seems like I'm going to be disappointed, shocked, and frustrated for the rest of my life. I feel like I still love the guy and I deeply hate myself for it. Jackson moved to our town six months ago. He was born here actually, but when his mom died in a car accident many years ago, Jackson’s dad decided to get a fresh start in another city. They traveled through almost the whole country, when his dad’s job finally brought them back down here again. Anyway, soon afterward, he started going to our school and we became friends, but then we both agreed that we were attracted to each other in a romantic sense and decided to begin dating. Jackson’s cool, you know. He rides a motorcycle and looks really mysterious and wise. I mean, there was hardly any chance of me not falling in love with him. Once he had the idea to go their family’s lake house and spend the whole weekend there. We had not been dating for that long yet, and my parents actually had no idea that he had a motorcycle, otherwise they wouldn’t even let me talk to him, you know. That’s why I lied to them and told them that I was going to spend the weekend at my friend Angelica’s country house. I didn’t feel great about having lied to my parents. And I had a bit of an unpleasant feeling inside, even though I was pretty excited about spending two days with my love. That unpleasant and worrisome feeling began growing soon after Jackson and I set out for our top-secret trip. At first, we got a flat tire; then, while Jackson was trying to fix it, a huge truck passed by and sloshed us with water and mud. I thought that this had to be enough trouble for one day, but as they say, bad things come in threes, so when we finally arrived at the lake house, dirty and exhausted, it turned out that Jackson had taken the wrong set of keys. We had nothing to do but to break into the house, obviously damaging the lock. A couple of hours later when we had finally changed our clothes and ate our dinner, Jackson and I were sitting next to the fireplace looking through an old family album. He was telling me about his mom, showing me her photos, and I felt like even though he could barely remember her, he missed her a lot. Suddenly we came across a picture of Jackson’s young mom sitting next to… my young mom! I was so surprised that I even screamed. Jackson, on the other hand, didn't recognize the woman next to his mom, but when I told him who she actually was, he turned pale. We rushed to look through the rest of the photos and found another interesting picture. Even though this photo had been taken many years ago when I probably wasn’t even born yet, I could bet I knew that man. Even though he didn’t have a mustache and his hair was long, I was pretty sure this was my mom’s brother – my uncle Henry. Of course, I told Jackson this and he was no less surprised and confused than I was. We couldn’t wait until the morning to go back home and ask our parents about everything, so we just decided to return immediately that night. Jackson’s dad was out of town, so I had to be the first one to begin the investigation. Of course, I had to confess to my parents that I had lied to them. Because it was already 1 A.M. when I returned home, while they weren't expecting me until the next evening. Dad was already sleeping and the talk with my mom wasn’t nice at all. She didn’t want to hear any explanation for why I had lied to her and how come I’d even dared to date a guy with a motorcycle, so she’d severely grounded me for that. And when I showed her the pictures of these photos on my cell phone and explained everything to her, she looked like she had just seen a ghost. She yelled at me, and told me that I was no longer allowed to see Jackson and that he’d better stay out of our family. I was devastated and I didn’t understand anything. At first I thought that my mom didn’t mean it, about me not seeing Jackson at all, and that she was just disappointed in my lies. But the next day she literally wouldn’t let me out of the house, constantly asking me to do something for her. Then, when the week started and I had to go to school, I wasn’t really expecting that mom would ask dad to come and pick me after my classes. So I basically had no chance to hang out with Jackson and I was totally confused because nobody would explain anything to me. By the way, Jackson managed to ask his dad about these photos, but the information he’d gotten explained nothing. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

My name is Daniel. Here`s what I want to talk about. My dad went missing for almost a year and I feel guilty about it. I`ll start from the very beginning. My dad was the most positive person on earth. For as long as I can remember, he was always glowing with happiness. But everything changed after one incident about a year ago. He didn't come home from work one night. At first, my mom and I thought that everything was ok. But he still hadn't shown up at nine o'clock that evening. That's when we began to call our friends and his colleagues. No one knew where dad could be. Then mom found dad's boss's phone number, and we called him. He surprised us a lot when he said that that day, my dad didn't show up at work, and didn't answer his phone calls. It was then that we really began to worry. What's happening? Where was he all day? We called the police, and two officers came to us and started asking us questions about my father. Soon afterward they found him. He was in the hospital, so my mother and I rushed there. When we got to the hospital and finally saw him, he was asleep. He was covered in scratches and bruises, there were pieces of glass in his clothes, and his shirt sleeve was almost torn off. The doctors said that he had a concussion and could have some sort of short-term memory loss. But everything else was fine. Officers said they found him outside the city. Looks like he was driving at a high speed, lost control, and his car ended up in a ditch. He was very lucky that he survived this accident. We spent the whole night in the hospital and when dad woke up we asked him what happened. And his answer shocked us: he said that he flew off the road because he was hit by another car. It was a serious allegation, so the police started an investigation. They came to our house a few times and asked a lot of questions. About a month later, they sent us a letter with their expert’s conclusion. According to this letter, the car didn`t have any traces of paint from another vehicle. To put it simply – no one had rammed my father's car. Dad was angry, he complained about the police inaction, and insisted that he was telling the truth. But my mom was upset. She believed the police and thought that my dad was lying and hiding something. Besides, where was he all day? Why didn't he go to work? To these questions he replied that he just didn't remember. So my parents sometimes fought about it. And I didn't know who was right. But I knew that dad was acting weird. He always covered the windows with curtains, his phone was often turned off. It seemed like… he was afraid of something, but he wouldn`t say what. In general, the atmosphere in the house was strange. But then something happened that really scared me. I was home after school doing my homework when I heard the front door slam loudly. I went down and saw my father. He looked scared – he had huge eyes and could barely breathe. When he caught his breath he finally said: "I saw her again, that car!" Then he ran up to the table and began to write something on a piece of paper. He tried to remember the car`s license plate number, but he couldn't. Dad was really worked up. He nervously walked around the house saying that mom will finally believe him now. But she didn't. After all, there was no evidence. So they just bickered again. And I can understand mom. Her husband is acting strange, obviously hiding something. Of course, she didn`t believe his words. Since then, dad has spent a lot of time on the computer. He was googling something, printing some articles. In the garage he hung up a board, where he attached various photos and documents. He even installed security cameras around the house! Apparently, he was determined to prove to me and my mom that he was right. It looked more like paranoia, but this is my dad – he always goes all out. And so we lived like this for two months. In the evenings, dad sat in the garage and watched the video from the cameras. I kept hoping dad would admit that he was wrong, or finally tell us why he didn`t go to work that day. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

My name is Megan. I am 13 years old. My father always used to say: 'A friend in need is a friend indeed.' Little did he know, what his friend would do to him one day. Let me tell you how it all happened. Our family is totally ordinary – and it's just my mom, my dad, and me. My father runs his own business, which is really successful. He worked with his partner Daniel, who was one of his best friends as well. Daniel was almost a part of the family, and he always participated in all of our family events and holidays. He had my dad's full confidence. But last Christmas Eve changed our lives completely. We were having a big party with all of our relatives and friends and it was so much fun! My father has always been the life of the party, but that day he was a bit moody. After everybody left, I saw that my father and Daniel went out to the balcony together. I was cleaning the table and accidentally eavesdropped on their conversation. I didn't get much, but I heard my dad say: "Today is the same day I left HER." And I guess Daniel was fully aware of who 'HER' was, because he said: "Maybe it's time to finally call her and learn the truth." to which dad replied: "No way." I was just rattled! Did my dad have a woman on the side? If not, why did he lie to me and say it was a business call? I had to uncover the truth. The next morning I bumped into Daniel at our doorway. He had come to pick my father and drive him to their office. I grabbed his hand, dragged him into my room, and demanded explanations and it didn't take Daniel long to tell me the whole story. He told me that my father had been married to another woman many years ago. But their relationship was not really good. Once they had such a big fight, that my father left and never ever came back, despite the fact that his wife was pregnant. And, he never found out if she had the baby or not, and this question has tormented him for years. I just listened to all of that with my mouth wide open, I held my breath and finally asked if there actually was a baby. Daniel paused for a few seconds and then said: 'Yes, there was.' It turned out that he also knew my father's ex-wife and called her that very evening after the talk on the balcony. My father had a daughter. Her name was Sylvia and she had already turned nineteen years old. You might be surprised, but I was so excited to hear that part of the story. I could only imagine how happy my father would be. And as for me, having a big sister has always been my dream! Now we just had to tell my dad the news. And besides, Sylvia was looking forward to meeting her father. I thought he was about to faint when he heard everything. I think he had mixed feelings, but I persuaded him that everything was going to be just perfect! That very day, we made a phone call. I picked up the phone and heard the sweetest voice ever say: 'Hello, sister! How are you?' In a few days Sylvia came to our house for dinner. She was very beautiful and looked so much like my father. She was so friendly and adorable and easily got along with him. We became friends immediately. We just couldn't stop talking. Sylvia was the best sister I could've ever dreamed of. She would come to see us every weekend and we made a great family, all together. Once my dad asked her what her mother thought about all this. Sylvia said that her mom was a difficult person. She was okay with the situation, but she said she wanted to neither to talk to, nor to see my Dad ever. And to tell you the truth, dad wasn't really disappointed at all." "It's been a while. And Silvia had become an inalienable part of our family. One day we all made our minds up to go to the park for a family picnic. My dad and my sister wanted to pick me up from school, and my mom was supposed to arrive later because she was very busy at work. I was waiting and waiting, but nobody came to get me. I called both my dad and Sylvia, but there was no answer. I got really worried and called my mom. She couldn't reach them either, so she came to school to get me and we rushed home to find out what had happened. I also called Daniel, but for some reason, he didn't answer me either. When we got home we saw that my father's car was there, which meant he was still at home. I quickly opened the door to see my father lying on the floor. I fled to him and mom called an ambulance. But he woke up before it arrived. He said that he was just drinking tea with Sylvia and Daniel, when suddenly he felt bad, and then he couldn't remember anything. But they were both not in the house, Sylvia was gone! No matter how we tried to reach her or Daniel, they never answered. What happened? Why did they leave?
