[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Dabang Delhi K.C. become first to score 50 points this season in win over Tamil Thalaivas

League leaders Dabang Delhi K.C. returned to winning ways with a 50-34 win over Tamil Thalaivas.

Dabang Delhi K.C. bounced back from their loss on Saturday with a 50-34 win over Tamil Thalaivas at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday. Naveen Kumar produced yet another solid performance and finished with 17 raid points, while Meraj Sheykh supported him well by scoring 12 raid points.

Dabang Delhi K.C.’s raiders dominated the opening exchanges and were rewarded in the 10th minute as Tamil Thalaivas succumbed to an All-Out to give the league leaders an 11-5 lead. Talisman Naveen and Sheykh continued to threaten Tamil Thalaivas’ defenders even after the All-Out and didn’t allow them to settle.

V Ajith Kumar soon came off the bench and picked up some crucial raid points to ensure Tamil Thalaivas didn’t fall too far behind Dabang Delhi K.C. However, Naveen finished the opening period with a flurry of raid points to help usher in a second All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas and extend Dabang Delhi K.C.’s lead to 11 points. Dabang Delhi K.C. then added another raid point before the halftime whistle to go into the break firmly in control with a 24-12 lead.

Dabang Delhi K.C. began the second period in confident fashion as Naveen picked up his 12th consecutive Super 10. A Super Raid by Sheykh soon after reduced Tamil Thalaivas to one man on court and eventually helped enforce a third All-Out on the southerners.

Sheykh then went on to complete his Super 10 as Dabang Delhi K.C.’s raiders continued to pick up points with ease. Tamil Thalaivas’ Ajith Kumar and ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari showed some fight, with the latter also bringing up his Super 10.

However, the southerners could not do anything to slow down Dabang Delhi K.C. as they reached 50 points – becoming the first team to do so this season – and registered a convincing win to strengthen their position on the league summit.

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Nabibakhsh’s late Super Raid helps Bengal Warriors complete dramatic comeback Bengal Warriors made a dramatic late comeback in the final minute of their clash against Puneri Paltan to emerge as 42-39 winners at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday. Skipper Maninder Singh scored a Super 10 for the hosts, while Baldev Singh picked up a High 5. Puneri Paltan started well and moved into an early 4-0 lead before K. Prapanjan picked up a bonus point to get the hosts on the scoreboard. A Super Tackle by Bengal Warriors in the subsequent raid and a Super Raid by Maninder Singh soon after then turned the game in favour of the hosts and put them ahead. With momentum now on their side, Bengal Warriors looked to drive home their advantage and enforced an All-Out in the 10th minute to extend their lead to 13-9. Puneri Paltan fought back with some decisive tackling and efficient raiding from the likes of Pankaj Mohite and Emad Sedaghatnia. They went on to enforce an All-Out of their own to retake their lead as the teams approached halftime. However, two quick points for Bengal Warriors after the All-Out meant that they took a slender 21-20 advantage into the break. The back-and-forth nature of the encounter continued in the second period with Puneri Paltan wrestling back the lead within a minute of the restart. Even though Puneri Paltan looked on top at that point, they couldn’t quite open up a big lead as the teams continued to trade blows during the first 10 minutes of the half. Puneri Paltan took a three-point lead into the final quarter of the contest, but the match was still very much in the balance. However, they upped the ante with some exquisite raiding by Mohite and Manjeet as the clock started to wind down and managed to create some breathing space with just under six minutes left to play, after enforcing another All-Out on Bengal Warriors to extend their lead to 36-27. The game looked done and dusted with a nine-point lead for Puneri Paltan to protect in the last five minutes as they looked to control the game from there. However, a Super Raid by Sukesh Hegde made it a five-point game and gave Bengal Warriors some hope with more than two minutes to play. Mohammad Nabibakhsh then pulled off a dramatic Super Raid in the dying moments to inflict an All-Out and give his side a 40-39 lead. The home team then kept their composure and scored two more points in the final seconds to claim a three-point win.          Top Performers: Bengal Warriors – Best Raider – Maninder Singh (10 Raid Points) Best Defender – Baldev Singh (5 Tackle Points) Puneri Paltan – Best Raider – Pankaj Mohite (11 Raid Points) Best Defender – Manjeet (3 Tackle Points) #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] U Mumba’s strong second-half display helps them overcome Tamil Thalaivas Tamil Thalaivas finished their home leg winless after a 24-29 loss to U Mumba in their final match at Chennai. U Mumba ensured that Tamil Thalaivas finished their vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 home leg without a win by registering a 29-24 victory over the hosts at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Athul MS was the leading scorer in the match with seven raid points and he played a big role in U Mumba’s second-half fightback. Tamil Thalaivas began the match positively and raced into a 4-1 lead after four minutes with ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari scoring three raid points, including a two-point raid. U Mumba gradually grew into the contest with some strong tackling and tied the score at 5-5 after the opening 10 minutes. However, Tamil Thalaivas soon reestablished their lead thanks to a couple of successive raids from ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur. He received support from Chaudhari, who picked up another two-point raid to extend the home side’s lead to 9-6. With halftime approaching, it looked like Tamil Thalaivas would inflict an All-Out. But a Super Tackle by Harendra Kumar on Chaudhari denied Tamil Thalaivas the All-Out and helped U Mumba reduce their deficit to 10-12 at the break. V. Ajith Kumar began the second half with a successful raid for the hosts only for Sandeep Narwal to respond with a two-point raid for U Mumba. The visitors moved into the lead five minutes into the second period after a two-point raid by Athul MS made it 15-14 in U Mumba’s favour. Things would get better for U Mumba soon after courtesy of another two-point raid by Athul that enforced an All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas. With momentum now on their side, U Mumba looked to build on their lead. However, Tamil Thalaivas weren’t prepared to let U Mumba dictate terms and clawed their way back into the contest with some decisive defending and swift raiding. A successful Do-or-Die raid by Chaudhari with a little less than six minutes to play saw Tamil Thalaivas cut U Mumba’s lead to just three points. A successful raid by Sandeep Narwal as well as successful tackles by Rajaguru Subramanian and Harendra soon after halted Tamil Thalaivas’ momentum. The hosts fought valiantly till the end, but U Mumba kept their discipline and defended resolutely to see off Tamil Thalaivas’ charge for a five-point win. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Dabang Delhi K.C. rise to league summit after beating U.P. Yoddha Dabang Delhi K.C. rose to the summit of the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 standings with a 36-27 win over U.P. Yoddha at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi on Sunday. Naveen Kumarfinished the game with a whopping 16 raid points, while Ravinder Pahal registered a High 5. U.P. Yoddha started strongly and took an early 4-0 lead. But Naveen ensured that they didn’t open up a big lead with a couple of swift raids. Naveen, in fact, was proving to be the most difficult player for the visitors to contain and, along with Pahal, accounted for most of Dabang Delhi K.C.’s points in the first half. As the half wore on, U.P. Yoddha found containing Naveen increasingly difficult. The Dabang Delhi K.C. youngster’s efficiency while raiding helped enforce an All-Out on U.P. Yoddha with a little less than two minutes left in the half. The home side then finished the half strongly and went into the break with a 15-11 lead. The second period saw Dabang Delhi K.C. build on their lead in the first 10 minutes with a few more successful raids from Naveen and decisive tackles from their defenders. U.P. Yoddha, though, weren’t about to go down without a fight and tried to forge a comeback. They were chipping away at Dabang Delhi K.C.’s lead, but a successful Do-or-Die raid by Chandran Ranjit at a pivotal juncture changed the momentum. Naveen completed his seventh Super 10 moments later and then helped inflict a second All-Out on U.P. Yoddha with a little over four minutes left to play. With a 30-19 lead to protect in the closing stages, it looked as though the game was in the bag for Dabang Delhi K.C. But a four-point Super Raid by Rishank Devadiga changed all that and set up an interesting finish. However, just when it looked as though U.P. Yoddha were about to inflict an All-Out, Naveen came to the rescue for Dabang Delhi K.C. yet again with a two-point raid. His raid deflated the opposition and instilled confidence in his team as Dabang Delhi K.C. went on to register back-to-back wins at home.         Top Performers: Dabang Delhi K.C. – Best Raider – Naveen Kumar (16 Raid Points) Best Defender – Ravinder Pahal (5 Tackle Points) U.P. Yoddha – Best Raider – Monu Goyat (10 Raid Points) Best Defender – Sumit (3 Tackle Points) #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com

Riding on a terrific raid performance by ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat, Bengaluru Bulls beat U Mumba by 30-26. The match was built as the battle between the “Hi-Flyer” Pawan Sehrawat and Fazel “Sultan” Atrachali and it was the raider who came out on top. The home-side displayed a strong performance in their home stadium against Puneri Paltan and was more than ready to face Bengaluru Bulls, against whom they have their second best record with 10 victories. ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat got a Super 10 and single-handedly flipped the table for Bengaluru Bulls as they sneaked their way through victory against home team U Mumba. Strong performance by U Mumba’s Arjun Deshwal and Fazel “Sultan” Atrachali went in vain as some unforced errors towards the end caused them the match. Video Courtesy: Star Sports

Telugu Titans Vs Haryana Steelers Pro Kabaddi Highlights 2019 PKL 2019 18 August English

by Sportskeeda ...

Siddharth Desai was the star for Telugu Titans as he proved ‘form is temporary, and class is permanent’ with a Super 10 to help his team secure a 40-29 win against Haryana Steelers in a crucial VIVO Pro Kabaddi League encounter at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Siddharth’s 18 points, including his second Super 10 of the season, was too much to contain for the Haryana Steelers who’s three-match winning run came to a halt in their first match of the Chennai-leg. Telugu Titans went into the match with just one win in eight matches, but the lack of confidence was certainly not evident from the outset as the Desai brothers of Siddharth and Suraj took the game to the Steelers. In-form Vikash Kandola, on the back of a hat-trick of Super 10s, was in no mood to let the Titans run away with the match though as he kept pace with the South Indian team. The most crucial point of the first half came with 8 minutes remaining when Siddarth Desai combined well with his team to tackle Vikash Kandola. Vishal Bhardwaj, playing his 50th match in PKL, brought about the first all-out in the match, assisting Abozar Mighani to tackle Naveen with four minutes remaining to half time. Steelers’ recent resurgence in form had been largely due to Vikash Kandola’s ability to perform in Do-or-Die (team success ratio of 60%) and Super-Tackle situations (personal SR of 88%), but the Telugu Titans had a well-prepared plan for the quick raider, tackling him out once more before the half ended at 21-13 in favour of the Titans. The second half ended up just like the first, with Telugu’s defence not allowing Vikash Kandola to settle into the game. They inflicted the second all-out on Haryana with 11 minutes remaining till the end with Siddharth Desai leading the Telugu attack. Kandola’s super raid with two minutes left in the clock led to a near-collapse for the Titans but the side held on to their nerves to escape an all-out and clinch the match. Siddharth’s return to form will be the highlight for the Titans who now look a well-balanced unit. Watch the highlights of the match here in English. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Pardeep’s defiant Super 10 goes in vain as U.P. Yoddha down Patna Pirates Pardeep Narwal was the top-scorer of the match with 14 points but U.P. Yoddha’s all-round effort helped them win 41-29. Led by Shrikant Jadhav’s Super 10 and Nitesh Kumar’s High 5, U.P. Yoddha managed to overcome Pardeep Narwal’s 14-point performance to defeat Patna Pirates 41-29 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. Surender Gill was also excellent as a supporting act, scoring 6 raid points and one tackle point for U.P. Yoddha. Jadhav and Gill got off the block straight away for U.P. Yoddha and made short work of the Patna Pirates defence. They were well backed up by Amit and Nitesh Kumar in defence, conceding just two points before inflicting an All-Out a little over seven minutes into the match. ‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal scored a two-point raid as soon as Patna Pirates took the mat once again. But Jadhav proved difficult to tackle for Patna Pirates’ defence and managed to keep his team ahead with a two-point raid of his own which sent Jawahar and Vikas Jaglan to the bench. The score difference then rose to nine once Narwal was sent to the bench through Nitesh’s well-timed Ankle Hold and Patna Pirates were on the verge of conceding another All-Out. However, two Super Tackles by Monu and Hadi Oshtorak helped Patna Pirates claw thet way back into the match.  Patna Pirates capitalise on that momentum with a couple of two-point raids, first by Jaglan and then by Narwal, and reduced U.P. Yoddha down to a solitary man going into halftime, with the scoreboard reading 14-16 in U.P. Yoddha's favour. Patna Pirates inflicted the All-Out with their opening raid of the second half to take the lead for the first time in the contest. But Jadhav and Nitesh got to work as soon as U.P. Yoddha reassembled and put their team back in the lead just two raids later. Back-to-back successful raids by Narwal halted U.P. Yoddha’s momentum and reduced them down to two men on the mat. Skipper Nitesh, though, remained defiant and brought up his High 5 with a Super Tackle on Narwal. Gill then put in two successful raids separated by a successful tackle on Jaglan to take U.P. Yoddha ahead and leave only two Patna Pirates players on the mat. Gill inflicted the All-Out on Patna Pirates with a two-point raid to give his team a six-point cushion. Narwal reached High Super 10 soon after and continued to lead the Patna Pirates attack. But Jadhav remained a tough challenge for Patna Pirates’ defenders and he soon brought up his Super 10 through a run of three successful raids to help U.P. Yoddha inflict a second All-Out on Patna Pirates and put the game beyond their reach. Narwal scored another two-point to take his raid point tally on the night to 14, but it was U.P. Yoddha who completed a hat-trick of victories. Top Performers: Patna Pirates – Best Raider – Pardeep Narwal (14 Raid Points) Best Defender – Monu (3 Tackle Points) U.P.
