George Edward Foreman is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1969 to 1977, and from 1987 to 1997. Nicknamed "Big George", he is a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist. Born: 10 January 1949 (age 68), Marshall, Texas, United States Height: 1.92 m Weight: 118 kg Children: Freeda Foreman, George Foreman III, Spouse: Mary Joan Martelly (m. 1985), Albums: New Columbian Brass Band: Trip To Coney Island (A) - Descriptive Overtures From America's Golden Age, Professional career Foreman had an amateur record of 22–4, losing twice to Clay Hodges (also defeated by Max Briggs in his first ever fight). Foreman turned professional in 1969 with a three-round knockout of Donald Walheim in New York. He had a total of 13 fights that year, winning all of them (11 by knockout). Personal life Foreman speaking in Houston, Texas, in September 2009 Foreman has been married to Mary Joan Martelly since 1985, prior to that, he was married four times.
