BETTY BOOP A Hunting We Will Go Vintage animation Humor Comedy Animation Fleischer Studios Cuphead Inspiration

BETTY BOOP A Hunting We Will Go is a 1932 Fleischer Studios Talkartoon animated short film starring Bimbo, KOKO the Clown and Betty Boop.

Amorous hunters Bimbo and Koko set out to bag some furs for coat-loving Betty Boop, but things don't turn out the way they'd planned...

Directed by Dave Fleischer
Produced by Max Fleischer , Adolph Zukor

Fleischer Studios (/ˈflaɪʃər/) was an American corporation which originated as an animation studio located at 1600 Broadway, New York City, New York. It was founded in 1921 as Inkwell Studios by brothers Max Fleischer and Dave Fleischer who ran the pioneering company from its inception until Paramount Pictures, the studio's parent company and the distributor of its films, acquired ownership. In its prime, Fleischer Studios was a premier producer of animated cartoons for theaters, with Walt Disney Productions's becoming its chief competitor in the 1930s.

Fleischer Studios characters included Koko the Clown, Betty Boop, Bimbo, Popeye the Sailor, and Superman. Unlike other studios, whose characters were anthropomorphic animals, the Fleischers' most successful characters were humans (with the exception of Bimbo). The cartoons of the Fleischer Studio were very different from the Disney product, both in concept and in execution. As a result, the Fleischer cartoons were rough rather than refined, commercial rather than consciously artistic. But in their unique way, their artistry was expressed through a culmination of the arts and sciences.[1] This approach focused on surrealism, dark humor, adult psychological elements, and sexuality, and the environments were grittier and urban, often set in squalid surroundings, reflecting the Great Depression as well as German Expressionism.

There's Something About a Soldier is a 1934 Fleischer Studios animated short film starring Betty Boop. Synopsis Betty is recruiting soldiers for a war against mosquitos. She offers a kiss to anyone who enrolls, which grabs the interest of several men. When Fearless Fred joins, he is stripped to his underwear, revealing his true fat, which is eventually pressed into muscle weight and looks like a real soldier. The war on the mosquitos parodies World War I-style combat. When the townspeople win, they all celebrate, and Betty and Fred kiss. Directed by Dave Fleischer Cast Mae Questel Mae Questel ... Betty Boop Red Hot Mamma HD 1934 Animation BANNED In The UK in 1934 That Is

by GoonCartoons

This is an HD version of a cartoon I previously uploaded. Red Hot Mamma is a 1934 Fleischer Studios Betty Boop animated short, directed by Dave Fleischer. It's a snowy winter's night, and a shivering Betty is trying to sleep. Shutting all the windows isn't enough, so she lights a roaring fire in the fireplace and falls asleep on the hearthplace rug. The heat of the flames soon turns two roosting chickens into roasted chickens, and causes Betty to dream that her fireplace has become the gate to Hell itself. Betty explores the underworld, and sings "Hell's Bells" for Satan and his minions. When Satan tries to put the moves on Betty, she fixes him with a (literally) icy stare, freezing him and all of Hell. When she falls through a hole and onto an icy surface below, Betty wakes up to find the fire out with the windows open and her bed frozen, and she goes to bed, this time under a pile of warm quilts. Clips of the redrawn colorized version were used in the compilation movie Betty Boop For President: The Movie (1980). In 1934 the film was banned in the United Kingdom, because it depicted Hell in a humorous manner, which was deemed blasphemous. Betty Boop Snow White 1933 HD Fletcher Studios Greatest Cartoons Of All Time
Betty Boop Snow White 1933 HD Fletcher Studios Greatest Cartoons Of All Time

by GoonCartoons

Snow-White, also known as Betty Boop in Snow-White, is a film in the Betty Boop series from Max Fleischer's Fleischer Studios directed in 1933. Dave Fleischer was credited as director, although virtually all the animation was done by Roland Crandall. Crandall received the opportunity to make Snow-White on his own as a reward for his several years of devotion to the Fleischer studio, and the resulting film is considered both his masterwork and an important milestone of The Golden Age of American animation. Snow-White took Crandall six months to complete. A magic mirror, with a face resembling Cab Calloway, proclaims Betty Boop to be "the fairest in the land", much to the anger of the Queen (who resembles Olive Oyl). The Queen orders her guards Bimbo and Koko to behead Betty. With tears in their eyes, they take Betty into the forest and prepare to execute her. Betty escapes into a frozen river, which encloses her in a coffin of ice. This block slips downhill to the home of the seven dwarfs, who carry the frozen Betty into an enchanted cave. Meanwhile, Koko and Bimbo fall down a hole and arrives at the same cave (with the Queen (who turned hersself into a Witch) , where the evil Queen turns him into a grotesque creature as he sings the St. James Infirmary Blues. With her rivals disposed of, the Queen again asks the magic mirror who the fairest in the land is, but the mirror explodes in a puff of magic smoke that returns Betty and Koko to their normal states and changes the Queen into a hideous monster. The queen monster chases the protagonists until Bimbo grabs its tongue and, with one mighty yank turns it inside out and leaving the skeleton monster to flee away. Betty, Koko, and Bimbo dance around in a circle of victory as the film ends. This plot, such as it is, is really more a framework to display a series of gags, musical selections, and animation. Critics have cited the film as having some of the most imaginative animation and background drawings from the Fleischer Studios artists. Mae Questel performs the voices of Betty Boop and the Olive Oyl-ish Queen, and Cab Calloway is the voice of Koko the Clown, singing "St. James Infirmary Blues". Koko's dancing (including some moves that look like a "moonwalk") during the "St. James" number is rotoscoped from footage of Cab Calloway.[citation needed] The film was deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1994. Also in 1994 it was voted #19 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field. The film is now public domain. The cartoon was featured in the music video for Charli XCX's You're the One Odd Future's The Internet. Flip the Fog in "Jailbirds" Ub Iwerks Vintage animation Humor Comedy Animation Fleischer Studios Cuphead Inspiration Flip the Frog is an animated cartoon character created by American animator Ub Iwerks. The series had many recurring characters besides Flip; including Flip's dog, the mule Orace, and a dizzy neighborhood spinster. Ub Iwerks, A.S.C. (/ˈʌb ˈaɪwɜːrks/; March 24, 1901 – July 7, 1971) was an American animator, cartoonist, character designer, inventor, and special effects technician, who created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse. The works Iwerks produced alongside Walt Disney went on to win numerous awards, including multiple Academy Awards. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri. His father, Eert Ubbe Iwwerks, immigrated to the U.S. in 1869 from the village of Uttum in East Frisia (northwest Germany, today part of the municipality of Krummhörn). Ub's full name, Ubbe Ert Iwwerks, can be seen on early "Alice" shorts that he signed. Several years later he simplified his name to "Ub Iwerks", sometimes written as "U. B. Iwerks".[1] He is the father of Disney Legend Don Iwerks and grandfather of documentary film producer Leslie Iwerks werks was considered by many to be Walt Disney's oldest friend, and spent most of his career with Disney. The two met in 1919 while working for the Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio in Kansas City,[2] and would eventually start their own commercial art business together.[3] Disney and Iwerks then found work as illustrators for the Kansas City Slide Newspaper Company[4] (which would later be named The Kansas City Film Ad Company).[5] While working for the Kansas City Film Ad Company, Disney decided to take up work in animation,[6] and Iwerks soon joined him. He was responsible for the distinctive style of the earliest Disney animated cartoons, and was also responsible for designing Mickey Mouse.[7] In 1922, when Disney began his Laugh-O-Gram cartoon series, Iwerks joined him as chief animator. The studio went bankrupt, however, and in 1923 Iwerks followed Disney's move to Los Angeles to work on a new series of cartoons known as “the Alice Comedies” which had live action mixed with animation. After the end of this series, Disney asked Iwerks to come up with a new character. The first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was animated entirely by Iwerks. Following the first cartoon, Oswald was redesigned on the insistence of Universal, who agreed to distribute the new series of cartoons in 1927. In spring 1928, Disney lost control of the Oswald character, and much of his staff was hired away; Disney left Universal soon afterwards. He promised never to work with a character he did not own ever again.[8] Disney asked Iwerks, who stayed on, to start drawing up new character ideas. Iwerks tried sketches of frogs, dogs, and cats, but none of these appealed to Disney. A female cow and male horse were created at this time by Iwerks, but were also rejected. ___ Goon Cartoons makes original short films, comedy, humor, animation, cartoons, pencil tests and experimental films. Bimbo's Initiation is a 1931 Fleischer Studios Talkartoon animated short film starring Bimbo and featuring Betty Boop. It was the final Betty Boop cartoon to be animated by the character's co-creator, Grim Gatwick. Bimbo is walking down the street when he suddenly disappears down an open manhole. He lands in an underground clubhouse of a secret society. The leader asks Bimbo if he'd like to be a member, but Bimbo refuses and is sent through a series of dangerous events. He is repeatedly asked by the leader to join their society, but keeps refusing. Bimbo is brought through a series of mysterious doors that lead him into yet another sub-basement. Bimbo flees through various death traps before landing in front of the mysterious order's leader again. Bimbo still refuses to become a member, but finally accepts the invitation when the leader reveals to be the real Betty Boop and the rest of the society members remove their costumes, showing that they are all Betty clones and Bimbo dances with all the Betties to celebrate. The song Wanna Be a Member? is parody lyrics written to the 1919 song the Vamp (or Vamp a Little Lady). Analysis and recognitions The surreal, nightmarish atmosphere of Bimbo's Initiation has made it one of the most renowned Fleischer Studios shorts. Leonard Maltin described it as "the 'darkest' of all" the Fleischers' cartoons. In 1994 it was voted #37 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation industry. The cartoonist Jim Woodring identified Bimbo's Initiation as "one of the things that laid the foundation for my life's philosophy." Stopping the Show is a 1932 Fleischer Studios animated short, directed by Dave Fleischer. While it is not the first appearance of Betty Boop, it is the first short to be credited as "A Betty Boop Cartoon." Synopsis Betty Boop appears on stage in a vaudeville theatre. Her act consists of imitations of real-life singers, including Helen Kane, Fanny Brice and Maurice Chevalier. The cartoon audience enthusiastically cheers and applauds. Notes and comments When the short was originally released, it contained a scene showing Betty singing Helen Kane's song "That's My Weakness Now." Kane, who was involved in a lawsuit over Betty's resemblance to her, complained, and the studios were forced to remove the scene from future prints. Clips from this short were later reused in 1934's Betty Boop's Rise to Fame. Directed by Dave Fleischer Cast Billy Murray Billy Murray ... Bimbo (voice) (uncredited) Mae Questel Mae Questel ... Boop-Oop-a-Doop is an animated short film created by Fleischer Studios in January 16, 1932 as part of the Talkartoon series. Directed by Dave Fleischer Cast Ann Little ... Betty Boop / Aloysius (voice) Billy Murray ... Bimbo (voice) (uncredited) William Pennell ... Ringmaster (voice) (uncredited) Plot The short film begins with a giant Betty Boop flag which flies over the big top. Betty works as a lion tamer and a tightrope walker. Another of the other circus attractions is Koko the Clown. While performing on the highwire the villainous ringmaster lusts for Betty as he watches her from below, singing "Do Something," a song previously performed by Helen Kane. As Betty returns to her tent, the ringmaster follows her inside and sensually massages her legs, surrounds her and threatens her job if she does not submit. Betty begs the ringmaster to cease his advances, as she sings "Don't Take My Boop-Oop-A-Doop Away". Koko the Clown is outside, practicing his juggling, and hears the struggle. He leaps in to save Betty's virtue, struggling with the ringmaster who loads him into a cannon, firing it, thinking that he has sent the hero away, laughing with self-satisfaction. But Koko is hiding inside the cannon, and strikes the ringmaster out cold with a mallet, returning with "the last laugh".
