[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Pardeep’s defiant Super 10 goes in vain as U.P. Yoddha down Patna Pirates

Pardeep Narwal was the top-scorer of the match with 14 points but U.P. Yoddha’s all-round effort helped them win 41-29.

Led by Shrikant Jadhav’s Super 10 and Nitesh Kumar’s High 5, U.P. Yoddha managed to overcome Pardeep Narwal’s 14-point performance to defeat Patna Pirates 41-29 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. Surender Gill was also excellent as a supporting act, scoring 6 raid points and one tackle point for U.P. Yoddha.

Jadhav and Gill got off the block straight away for U.P. Yoddha and made short work of the Patna Pirates defence. They were well backed up by Amit and Nitesh Kumar in defence, conceding just two points before inflicting an All-Out a little over seven minutes into the match.

‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal scored a two-point raid as soon as Patna Pirates took the mat once again. But Jadhav proved difficult to tackle for Patna Pirates’ defence and managed to keep his team ahead with a two-point raid of his own which sent Jawahar and Vikas Jaglan to the bench.

The score difference then rose to nine once Narwal was sent to the bench through Nitesh’s well-timed Ankle Hold and Patna Pirates were on the verge of conceding another All-Out. However, two Super Tackles by Monu and Hadi Oshtorak helped Patna Pirates claw thet way back into the match.

Patna Pirates capitalise on that momentum with a couple of two-point raids, first by Jaglan and then by Narwal, and reduced U.P. Yoddha down to a solitary man going into halftime, with the scoreboard reading 14-16 in U.P. Yoddha's favour.

Patna Pirates inflicted the All-Out with their opening raid of the second half to take the lead for the first time in the contest. But Jadhav and Nitesh got to work as soon as U.P. Yoddha reassembled and put their team back in the lead just two raids later.

Back-to-back successful raids by Narwal halted U.P. Yoddha’s momentum and reduced them down to two men on the mat. Skipper Nitesh, though, remained defiant and brought up his High 5 with a Super Tackle on Narwal. Gill then put in two successful raids separated by a successful tackle on Jaglan to take U.P. Yoddha ahead and leave only two Patna Pirates players on the mat.

Gill inflicted the All-Out on Patna Pirates with a two-point raid to give his team a six-point cushion. Narwal reached High Super 10 soon after and continued to lead the Patna Pirates attack. But Jadhav remained a tough challenge for Patna Pirates’ defenders and he soon brought up his Super 10 through a run of three successful raids to help U.P. Yoddha inflict a second All-Out on Patna Pirates and put the game beyond their reach.

Narwal scored another two-point to take his raid point tally on the night to 14, but it was U.P. Yoddha who completed a hat-trick of victories.

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Bengaluru Bulls emerge victorious after epic duel between Sehrawat and Desai ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat’s excellence helped Bengaluru Bulls do the double over Telugu Titans in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7. Bengaluru Bulls finished their home leg with a 40-39 win over Telugu Titans at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. It was a jaw-dropping battle as both ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat and ‘Baahubali’ Siddharth Desai finished with 22 raid points each. In the end though Bengaluru Bulls did just about enough to secure a win and finish with three wins from four at home. Both teams started positively and didn’t waste much time to get the scoreboard ticking. It was all square at 6-6 after the opening eight minutes with neither side managing to stamp their authority on the game.  Sehrawat grew in influence as the half progressed but finished the opening period with six raid points, while Siddharth was Telugu Titans’ top-scorer with four raid points. Bengaluru Bulls ended the first half slightly on top having reduced Telugu Titans to two men on court to take a 15-12 advantage into the break. Bengaluru Bulls enforced an All-Out on Telugu Titans following a two-point Sehrawat raid within a minute of the restart. Now with a 19-12 lead after the All-Out, the hosts looked to build on their advantage. However, some excellent defending and decisive raiding by Siddharth helped Telugu Titans reduce the deficit to three points at one stage. A Super Raid by Sehrawat though changed the complexion of the contest and seemed to take the stuffing out of Telugu Titans. With confidence now flowing through his veins, Sehrawat went about his business intelligently against Telugu Titans’ defence and guided his team as the hosts inflicted another to extend their lead to 32-23. Even though Bengaluru Bulls had extended their lead, Telugu Titans continued to fight with Siddharth picking up some quick raid points to narrow the deficit. Siddharth then shocked and silenced the home crowd with a four-point Super Raid that enforced an All-Out on Bengaluru Bulls and reduced the hosts’ lead to 35-33. Another Super Raid by Siddharth with a little over one minute to play then tied the score at 36-36. Sehrawat and Siddharth scored two more points each for their teams to make it 38-38 and anyone’s game going into the final minute. With the match on a knife’s edge, Sehrawat produced a two-point raid in the penultimate raid of the match and Bengaluru Bulls were then happy to concede a point on the buzzer raid to secure a hard-fought win. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] U Mumba’s strong second-half display helps them overcome Tamil Thalaivas Tamil Thalaivas finished their home leg winless after a 24-29 loss to U Mumba in their final match at Chennai. U Mumba ensured that Tamil Thalaivas finished their vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 home leg without a win by registering a 29-24 victory over the hosts at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Athul MS was the leading scorer in the match with seven raid points and he played a big role in U Mumba’s second-half fightback. Tamil Thalaivas began the match positively and raced into a 4-1 lead after four minutes with ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari scoring three raid points, including a two-point raid. U Mumba gradually grew into the contest with some strong tackling and tied the score at 5-5 after the opening 10 minutes. However, Tamil Thalaivas soon reestablished their lead thanks to a couple of successive raids from ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur. He received support from Chaudhari, who picked up another two-point raid to extend the home side’s lead to 9-6. With halftime approaching, it looked like Tamil Thalaivas would inflict an All-Out. But a Super Tackle by Harendra Kumar on Chaudhari denied Tamil Thalaivas the All-Out and helped U Mumba reduce their deficit to 10-12 at the break. V. Ajith Kumar began the second half with a successful raid for the hosts only for Sandeep Narwal to respond with a two-point raid for U Mumba. The visitors moved into the lead five minutes into the second period after a two-point raid by Athul MS made it 15-14 in U Mumba’s favour. Things would get better for U Mumba soon after courtesy of another two-point raid by Athul that enforced an All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas. With momentum now on their side, U Mumba looked to build on their lead. However, Tamil Thalaivas weren’t prepared to let U Mumba dictate terms and clawed their way back into the contest with some decisive defending and swift raiding. A successful Do-or-Die raid by Chaudhari with a little less than six minutes to play saw Tamil Thalaivas cut U Mumba’s lead to just three points. A successful raid by Sandeep Narwal as well as successful tackles by Rajaguru Subramanian and Harendra soon after halted Tamil Thalaivas’ momentum. The hosts fought valiantly till the end, but U Mumba kept their discipline and defended resolutely to see off Tamil Thalaivas’ charge for a five-point win. Pardeep Narwal becomes first player to cross 1000 raid points as Patna Pirates beat Tamil Thalaivas Patna Pirates snapped their six-match losing streak in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 with a 51-25 win over Tamil Thalaivas at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Monday. ‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal was the star of the show with 26 raids points and became the first player in league history to cross 1000 career raid points. Patna Pirates started the game confidently with Pardeep Narwal causing all sorts of problems for Tamil Thalaivas’ defence. They inflicted the first All-Out of the game on Tamil Thalaivas in the ninth minute to open up an 11-4 lead and take immediate control of the match. Pardeep then became the first player to reach 1000 raid points with around about five minutes left in the first half as Tamil Thalaivas’ defence struggled to find an answer for the ‘Record-Breaker’. Tamil Thalaivas eventually executed a Super Tackle on Pardeep towards the end of the half, but the Patna Pirates skipper still finished the opening period with 12 raid points to his name as his team took an 18-13 lead into the break.    The three-time champions began the second period with intent and enforced a second All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas four minutes into the half to extend their lead to 25-13. Pardeep wasn’t done yet, though, and continued to dominate proceedings. Two Super Raids by him in quick succession helped inflict a third All-Out on the southerners and extended Patna Pirates’ lead 37-15. Even though the game was done and dusted as a contest by this stage, Patna Pirates were unrelenting in terms of their intensity and enforced a fourth All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas with six minutes left to play. They crossed the 50-point mark in the final minute and finished the game having scored the most points by a team this season. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Patna Pirates outplay Jaipur Pink Panthers through Pardeep and Lee’s smart raiding Pardeep Narwal’s excellent 14 raid point-performance, supported by Neeraj Kumar’s High 5 and Jang Kun Lee’s intelligent raiding in the dying minutes, gave Patna Pirates a 36-33 victory over Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday. Sushil Gulia came off the bench to score 8 points in 8 raids for Jaipur Pink Panthers and Sandeep Dhull managed another High 5, but the team was unable to overcome the three-time champions in the closing minutes of the game. The raiders from both sides got early success before Patna Pirates’ defence struck by sending Deepak Hooda to the bench through Neeraj Kumar. Another tackle on Nitin Rawal then gave Patna Pirates more momentum before Pardeep Narwal’s Super Raid put them firmly in the driver’s seat. Pardeep then put in three more successful raids to bring Jaipur Pink Panthers on the verge of an All-Out, before a Super Tackle on the ‘Record-Breaker’ by Sandeep Dhull turned things around for his side. Ajinkya Pawar then put in two successful Do-or-Die raids, split by Amit Hooda’s tackle on Jang Kun Lee, to reduce Patna Pirates down to three men on the mat. Jaideep came to Patna Pirates’ rescue just at the right time to Super Tackle Pawar before Pardeep got a touch point on Rawal to reduce the score difference to one as Jaipur Pink Panthers led 15-14 at halftime. Amit Hooda’s Super Tackle on Pardeep in his first raid of the second period and Dhull’s Super Tackle on Monu soon after extended Jaipur Pink Panthers’ lead. But Lee’s two-point raid followed by Pardeep’s touches on Deepak and Nilesh Salunke in successive raids then reduced Jaipur Pink Panthers down to a solitary man, which soon translated to an All-Out to bring the score difference back to one point at 23-24 with 12 minutes left to play. Pardeep reached his Super 10 after the reset with a two-point raid to put Patna Pirates in the lead. But Dhull’s tackle on Pardeep in his next raid put Jaipur Pink Panthers back in the lead along with bringing up the defender’s High 5. Patna Pirates went back in the lead through Lee, but Sushil Gulia’s Super Raid brought back parity at 29-29 with just four minutes remaining on the clock. The teams kept trading blows from this point as Pardeep and Lee for Patna Pirates, and Deepak and Sushil for Jaipur Pink Panthers, kept the scoreboard ticking. But Neeraj Kumar’s successful tackles on Deepak and Sushil in quick time gave Patna Pirates a slender lead going into the final seconds. With a minute left to play, Lee ran down the clock brilliantly while Patna Pirates’ defence allowed Sushil just one point in the penultimate raid to help their team emerge successful by three points. by Khel Now TV

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Haryana Steelers beat U Mumba to leapfrog them in standings Vikash Kandola’s 9 raid points helped Haryana Steelers overcome U Mumba 30-27. Haryana Steelers held their nerve through a close contest to register a narrow 30-27 win over U Mumba at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Vikash Kandola played a starring role for Haryana Steelers with 9 raid points, including a couple of crucial points in the closing stages of the contest. U Mumba started brightly thanks to an early tackle by Harendra Kumar that sent Haryana Steelers’ dangerman Kandola to the bench. Arjun Deshwal then got in on the action with a successful two-point raid. Haryana Steelers, though, fought back as Kandola returned to the mat and executed a Super Raid to put his side into a 5-4 lead. The Season 2 champions responded with a two-point raid by Athul MS to retake the lead as both sets of raiders dominated the first 10 minutes of the contest. Just as it looked like Haryana Steelers were edging towards inflicting an All-Out, U Mumba’s Sandeep Narwal came up with a Super Tackle. However, Sandeep’s contribution merely delayed the inevitable as Haryana Steelers went on to enforce an All-Out on U Mumba and take a 13-8 lead. The first half came to a close with Haryana Steelers very much on top as their defenders also began to grow into the contest. They took a 16-8 lead into the break and ensured that U Mumba would start the second half with just four men on court. Haryana Steelers began the second period looking to inflict a second All-Out on U Mumba. However, Fazel ‘Sultan’ Atrachali executed a Super Tackle to thwart Haryana Steelers’ momentum, while giving U Mumba fresh impetus. Atrachali’s tackle helped turn the tides of the contest in U Mumba’s favour, but Haryana Steelers executed successive Super Tackles to maintain their lead. A two-point raid in a Do-or-Die situation by Sandeep Narwal finally helped usher in an All-Out on Haryana Steelers with a little over four minutes left to play. Though the score was 26-23 in favour of Haryana Steelers after the All-Out, U Mumba had momentum on their side. A couple of successful raids by Abhishek Singhand one by Athul reduced the gap to one point. Kandola, though, showed tremendous resolve and continued to score raid points for Haryana Steelers to squash U Mumba’s chances of a comeback and give his side a slender three-point victory.
