In a small kingdom named Alberdine, lived a girl named Bathilde. Troubled from childhood, she struggles to make friends and fit in. Little does she know, she is destined for something absolutely fantastic.
Bathilde: I don’t understand!
Faye: Understand what?
Bathilde: The charming castle girls with their purses filled with coin, curled hair, groomed nails, and perfect smiles. Why can’t I be like that!
Faye: You mean Kinsey and Whitney?
Bathilde: Yes! Kinsey, Whitney, Rylee, all of them never quit, Any little chance they see they take full advantage to hurt me, belittle me, degrade me on my looks, it's simply not right!
Faye: Aw, come on now that can’t be true. Kinsey is the King’s Guard’s daughter, she couldn’t hurt a fly, and Whitney, her mum used to work the mill before Lord Harkness sat on the throne. Rylee, may have always been the trouble maker but, it just doesn’t seem possible.
Bathilde: It is! Two days before my birthday, as requested by high office I came to see the royal highness to pay tribute and loyalty. With the little coin I had in my purse ever since mother left to work in archives, I went up the golden stairs to the royal office. I heard them giggling just beyond my ear’s reach.
Faye: Go on.
Bathilde: First was Kinsey...
Kinsey: Oi, you think you can walk in here and track mud on our carpets? Queen of the cow farm. What’s that in your purse, a cow patty?Bathilde: Then was Whitney...
Whitney: Oh dear, you really should get those nails done Bathilde, oh
wait, I forgot, you can’t hahaha.
Bathilde: Finally, there was Rylee, which really hurt... Rylee: Been playing in the hay with hair like that have ya?
Bathilde: Leave me alone! I am here to do one thing, give my gifts to Lord Harkness and be on my way.
Kinsey: Back to where the cow farm? Rylee: Or is it the haystack?Bathilde: Leave me alone!
The girls of the castle were well known to be ruthless. However, they
were particularly ruthless towards one girl, Bathilde.
Whitney: Why don’t you run to the bewitched forest and get lost for a while!Lord Harkness’s son Aldrich: Leave her alone!
Bathilde: And that’s why I’m here.Faye: I’m so s...
Bathilde: Please, don’t pity me.
Faye: Well...how about some games? I know you love games!
Bathilde: I don’t want games. All I want is for once to look in the mirror and smile. To have the hair and smile, and looks of all the other girls. I want to be a queen.
Faye: Speaking of which, rumors say that the king shouldn’t actually be the kind of Alberdine! We should have a queen who relates to Queen Belladonna!
Bathilde: But he is a good king, rumors might be wrong!
Faye: Well I don’t know. Let us go somewhere, not to the bewitched forest. Where do you...
Bathilde: Archives. I want to go to the archives.
“The archives,” she said, knowing very well that even just the sight of
her mother’s face would be more than enough to raise her spirit.
Faye: Oh no no. You know the only person allowed in there is your mother.
Bathilde: I know.
Faye: Plus, if you’re caught, they’ll be sure to lock you up in the undercastle where King Leon once stored the many beasts of the forest.
Bathilde: I know.
Faye: Ugh, fine. If you want to risk it, by all means, do it, just remember, I
did warn you Bathilde.
Bathilde: I know.
Bathilde: Hello...Guard: What is it?
Said the towering guard.Bathilde: I...I’m...I’m here to see my mother, Gloria of Alberdine. Guard: No one is allowed in the archives.Bathilde: No you don’t understand I...Guard: I said, no one is allowed in the archives!Bathilde: Please Sir, you don’t understand. I have to...
Guard: No little girl, you don’t understand. There is a great magical force binding the lock to this door. Only a woman of magic could open it. Someone like your mother, someone who isn’t you! if you do not leave at this very moment, then I will put you in Juvenile detention, now is that understood!
Bathilde: Yes sir.
Bathilde visits her friend Faye in search of some help.
Faye: Just a minute!
