[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Goyat’s Super 10 on return fires U.P. Yoddha into the playoffs

Returning raider Monu Goyat scored 11 raid points as U.P. Yoddha defeated Dabang Delhi K.C. 50-33 in their first home match.

U.P. Yoddha sealed the final spot in the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 playoffs with a 50-33 win over Dabang Delhi K.C. at their home venue of the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Saturday. Dabang Delhi K.C. fielded a fresh starting seven which was missing stars like Naveen Kumar, Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal, and Monu Goyat used the opportunity to return to form in his comeback match with a Super 10.

Shrikant Jadhav and Monu Goyat reduced Dabang Delhi K.C. down to three men within the first three minutes of the match. A Super Tackle on Surender Gill delayed the All Out for Dabang Delhi K.C. but Goyat continued his fine start and put in two more successful raids to finally inflict it three-minutes later.

Sombir showed some resistance in defence by sending Jadhav to the bench and he found support in Neeraj Narwal, who reduced the score difference down to five with a Super Raid. But Goyat’s excellent raiding continued, with Jadhav and Gill scoring regularly as well, giving U.P. Yoddha a 22-12 lead going into halftime.

The second period saw more good work from Goyat, who brought up his Super 10 in just the second raid of the half, to reduce Dabang Delhi K.C. down to a solitary man. Nitesh Kumar made short work of Sheykh to inflict another All Out on Dabang Delhi K.C. and extend U.P. Yoddha’s lead to 12.

Sombir and Neeraj Narwal kept up the fight for Dabang Delhi K.C., with the latter putting in another Super Raid to bring U.P. Yoddha on the verge of an All Out in the sixth minute. However, Ashu Singh’s tackle on Neeraj and Jadhav’s two-point raid turned it around once again.

Sombir’s Super Tackle on Goyat gave the defender his High 5 and, on the other side of the mat Nitesh Kumar, too, brought up his High 5 just a couple of minutes later. As the last man on the mat for Dabang Delhi K.C., Sombir picked up a bonus before being tackled by Sumit, as the visitors succumbed to yet another All Out with five minutes left to play.

Young Neeraj Narwal, who was playing just the third match of his vivo Pro Kabaddi career, brought up his Super 10 with his third Super Raid of the night, but the home side’s consistent work gave them a 17-point win in the end and a place in the playoffs.

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Maninder stars as Bengal Warriors beat Jaipur Pink Panthers to qualify for the playoffs Maninder Singh produced a Super 10 display during Bengal Warriors’ 41-40 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers. Bengal Warriors qualified for the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 playoffs after a 41-40 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. Captain Maninder Singh was the star of the show for Bengal Warriors and scored a career-best 19 raid points. Jaipur Pink Panthers got the first point of the match and were the better team in the opening quarter of the game. Skipper Deepak Hooda, Deepak Narwal and Nilesh Salunke raided with frequent success, while Vishal was their sole Tackle Point contributor as the Season 1 champions led 10-7 after 10 minutes. Bengal Warriors though came back strongly and tied things up at 10-10. Jaipur Pink Panthers’ defence began to find more success as the game progressed but the Season 1 champions were still all square at 13-13 in the final minute of the half. They did end the half with a successful tackle by Santhapanaselvam to take a slender 14-13 lead into the break, making it all to play for in the second period. Bengal Warriors began the second half with a bang thanks to a four-point Super Raid by K. Prapanjan that enforced an All-Out and made it 20-14 in favour of his team. Jaipur Pink Panthers responded with positive intent and cut Bengal Warriors’ lead to two points after a Super Raid by Salunke. However, Bengal Warriors’ skipper Maninder ensured that Jaipur Pink Panthers didn’t get too close to his team with some efficient raiding that saw them consistently ticking the scoreboard over. Salunke continued to fight for Jaipur Pink Panthers but didn’t find much support from his teammates as Bengal Warriors looked to tighten their stranglehold on the match with another All-Out that extended their advantage to eight points. A Super Raid by Maninder moments later then pushed Bengal Warriors’ lead to double digits and silenced the home crowd further. However, Jaipur Pink Panthers rallied late on to the approval of the home faithful and inflicted an All-Out with a little over two minutes left to make it a two-point game. The closing stages of the match saw Maninder play intelligently to ensure Jaipur Pink Panthers’ late surge went in vain as Bengal Warriors picked up the win to secure playoff qualification along with Dabang Delhi K.C. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Dabang Delhi K.C. overcome Bengaluru Bulls to cement maiden final appearance Dabang Delhi K.C. sealed their spot in the Season 7 grand finale after a 44-38 win against Bengaluru Bulls. Dabang Delhi K.C. qualified for their first-ever vivo Pro Kabaddi final after a 44-38 win over Bengaluru Bulls at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Naveen Kumar scored 15 raid points for Dabang Delhi K.C. on the night, while Anil Kumar was their best defender with four Tackle Points. Dabang Delhi K.C. began the match on the front foot and, after some good raiding as well as defending, they went on to inflict an All Out in just the fourth minute to take a 9-3 lead. Bengaluru Bulls demonstrated some fight after the reset courtesy of their talisman Pawan Sehrawat. Some good work by the ‘Hi-Flyer’ helped reduce Dabang Delhi K.C.’s lead to just three points at one stage. However, Dabang Delhi K.C. regained control of the game after successfully tackling Sehrawat. They then enforced another All Out following good work on both ends of the mat to extend their advantage to 21-10. Dabang Delhi K.C seemed like they were about to enforce a third All Out before halftime, but some good defensive work, which included a Super Tackle by Saurabh Nandal, meant that Bengaluru Bulls went into the break trailing 26-18. The first point of the second period went to Dabang Delhi K.C. but Bengaluru Bulls responded with another Super Tackle; this time by Mahender Singh, which also revived Sehrawat. Back on the mat after a long duration on the bench, Sehrawat executed two successful raids to get his team within five points of Dabang Delhi K.C. A successful tackle by Chandran Ranjit on Sehrawat, though, stopped the reigning champions from building up a head of steam. The final quarter of the contest saw Dabang Delhi K.C. protect their lead in diligent fashion. Their defenders were alive and wary on court, while Naveen and Vijay ensured that they kept scoring raid points on a consistent basis, as Bengaluru Bulls succumbed to a third All Out with less than three minutes to play. Dabang Delhi K.C. then ran the clock down intelligently in the final few minutes and eventually registered a six-point victory. Pro Kabaddi 2019 Highlights | Gujarat Fortunegiants Vs Patna Pirates | M123

'Record-Breaker’ Pardeep continues to shine as Patna Pirates sink Gujarat Fortunegiants More GB almost scored a double of a Super 10 and High 5 in a single match but fell just one tackle point short. Another masterful raiding performance from Pardeep Narwal saw Patna Pirates win a back-and-forth thriller against Gujarat Fortunegiants by a scoreline of 39-33 at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Saturday. More GB put in a brilliant all-round performance for Gujarat Fortunegiants and almost finished with a double of a Super 10 and a High 5 but fell just one tackle point short. Sonu and Rohit Gulia gave Gujarat Fortunegiants a bright start but ‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal helped Patna Pirates level the score at 5-5 in the fourth minute. Patna Pirates then took the lead through Pardeep but consecutive Super Tackles, first on Pardeep and then Mohammad Maghsoudlou, helped Gujarat Fortunegiants fight back. More GB followed that up with four successful raids and a Super Tackle on Pardeep with three minutes left in the half to keep Gujarat Fortunegiants ahead. Gulia added another raid point to his kitty from there as Gujarat Fortunegiants took a 19-14 lead at halftime. Another successful raid by More early in the second half paved the way for a Patna Pirates All Out via Rohit Gulia’s two-point raid. This gave Gujarat Fortunegiants an 11-point advantage. Pardeep reached his Super 10 just three minutes later, cutting the deficit to 7 points and, three more successful raids later, inflicted the All Out back on Gujarat Fortunegiants to give his team a one-point lead. The following minutes stayed close as Gujarat Fortunegiants sent Pardeep packing through Pankaj’s tackle to take the lead, but Maghsoudlou’s two-point raid wrestled the lead back to Patna Pirates just moments later. Jaideep’s successful tackle on Gulia brought Pardeep back on the mat and the ‘Record-Breaker’ immediately made good use of the revival to get a touch on Ruturaj Koravi and extend Patna Pirates’ lead. Parvesh Bhainswal’s tackle on Pardeep with just two minutes left to play seemed to have won the match for Gujarat Fortunegiants, but Jang Kun Lee came in to replace Purna Singh and immediately picked up a touch to revive his skipper and level the scores at 33-33. Maghsoudlou’s strong Ankle Hold on More, followed by Pardeep’s two-point raid, all but sealed it for Patna Pirates from there and Monu’s tackle on Pankaj as the clock ran down helped the team inflict an All Out on Gujarat Fortunegiants and walk away with a six-point win. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Naveen stars again as Dabang Delhi K.C. outshine Telugu Titans Siddharth Desai’s Super 10 wasn’t enough for Telugu Titans as they went down to Dabang Delhi K.C., pillared by Naveen Kumar’s 14th successive Super 10 and a calculative defence, by a scoreline of 29-37 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi in Pune on Monday. Desai got Telugu Titans off the mark in the match and handed his team an early lead against the league toppers. It looked like Dabang Delhi K.C.’s offence would be contained on the night after Naveen was kept in check early in the game, that included a Super Tackle from Rakesh Gowda that kept Telugu Titans ahead. Naveen was the subject of another Super Tackle minutes later at the hands of Abozar Mighani that extended Telugu Titans’ advantage to four. But then Dabang Delhi. K.C. came together, led by a two-point raid from Naveen Kumar, and a solid combined defence that inflicted the first All Out of the match on Telugu Titans. The two teams then exchanged points leading up to the half - highlighted by another Naveen two-pointer, that included a bonus, and a Farhad Milaghardan raid that got Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal out - with the home team leading 18-15. At the restart, the two teams continued to play on par but Dabang Delhi K.C. edged further as the clock ticked away. With a combination of Naveen’s raids and timely contribution from the defence, Dabang Delhi K.C. scored seven unanswered points that saw Telugu Titans All Out for the second time in the match. The score now read 29-18 with Telugu Titans trailing by 11 points. When the players reassembled, Telugu Titans went on the attack and added three straight points - that included Desai’s two successful raids - and got the deficit down to eight. However, the gap didn’t reduce any further as Naveen’s opportune raids added to Dabang Delhi K.C.’s tally and ballooned the gap to 11 again at 35-24 with just five minutes left. Desai added a couple of successful raids and Vishal Bhadwaj managed two tackles, but the gap proved just too much as Telugu Titans went down by eight points.
