Description:

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] UP Yoddha produced a clinical performance to beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 38-32 in a VIVO Pro Kabaddi match at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi, Pune on Monday.

Raiders Surender Gill (7 points), Shrikant Jadhav (9 points) and Rishank Devadiga (8points) all stepped up for the UP side as they overcame a stiff challenge from the season one champions to jump to fifth place on the points table.

Deepak Hooda secured a Super 10 (13 points including a Super Tackle) for the Pink Panthers but the team’s lack of quality raiders was evident once again as they struggled for inspiration in attack. Vishal came back in the starting line-up for Jaipur Pink Panthers as they looked to regain their early-season form with a better showing against a UP Yoddha side.

And it was the Pink Panthers who got off to a bright start, with Sushil Gulia giving them three-points with a Super Raid in the second minute. But the Pink Panthers struggled in the defence, and a few silly errors allowed the UP raiders to crawl back in the match. Surender Gill, Shrikant Jadhav, and Rishank Devadiga contributed in raids for the UP team as they inflicted an All-Out on the Pink Panthers in the 12th minute to open up a six-point lead.

The problem with the Jaipur team was how they were conceding too many multi-point raids and the trend continued after the All-Out with Shrikant Jadhav picking up an easy three-point raid with two minutes remaining for half time. At the other end, Jaipur captain Deepak Niwas Hooda ensured the lead did not widen with five touchpoints to his name in the half. The first half ended 20-13 with Yoddha on top. The second half turned out to be a repeat of the first half with Jaipur Pink Panthers struggling to work as a team in defence despite tackling Shrikant Jadhav out in the early minutes.

Rishank Devadiga picked up easy points as UP maintained their lead over the Pink Panthers. Deepak Niwas Hooda delayed the inevitable All-Out with some all-round heroics including a Super Tackle (as he clinched a Super 10). UP Yoddha secured their second All-Out in the seventh minute of the half to move to an 8-point lead. The UP defence held their nerves in the final minutes to clinch an important victory.

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Maninder stars as Bengal Warriors beat Jaipur Pink Panthers to qualify for the playoffs Maninder Singh produced a Super 10 display during Bengal Warriors’ 41-40 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers. Bengal Warriors qualified for the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 playoffs after a 41-40 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. Captain Maninder Singh was the star of the show for Bengal Warriors and scored a career-best 19 raid points. Jaipur Pink Panthers got the first point of the match and were the better team in the opening quarter of the game. Skipper Deepak Hooda, Deepak Narwal and Nilesh Salunke raided with frequent success, while Vishal was their sole Tackle Point contributor as the Season 1 champions led 10-7 after 10 minutes. Bengal Warriors though came back strongly and tied things up at 10-10. Jaipur Pink Panthers’ defence began to find more success as the game progressed but the Season 1 champions were still all square at 13-13 in the final minute of the half. They did end the half with a successful tackle by Santhapanaselvam to take a slender 14-13 lead into the break, making it all to play for in the second period. Bengal Warriors began the second half with a bang thanks to a four-point Super Raid by K. Prapanjan that enforced an All-Out and made it 20-14 in favour of his team. Jaipur Pink Panthers responded with positive intent and cut Bengal Warriors’ lead to two points after a Super Raid by Salunke. However, Bengal Warriors’ skipper Maninder ensured that Jaipur Pink Panthers didn’t get too close to his team with some efficient raiding that saw them consistently ticking the scoreboard over. Salunke continued to fight for Jaipur Pink Panthers but didn’t find much support from his teammates as Bengal Warriors looked to tighten their stranglehold on the match with another All-Out that extended their advantage to eight points. A Super Raid by Maninder moments later then pushed Bengal Warriors’ lead to double digits and silenced the home crowd further. However, Jaipur Pink Panthers rallied late on to the approval of the home faithful and inflicted an All-Out with a little over two minutes left to make it a two-point game. The closing stages of the match saw Maninder play intelligently to ensure Jaipur Pink Panthers’ late surge went in vain as Bengal Warriors picked up the win to secure playoff qualification along with Dabang Delhi K.C. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Vikash Kandola stars as Haryana Steelers end Bengal Warriors unbeaten streak Haryana Steelers ended Bengal Warriors’ five-match unbeaten run in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 with a 36-33 win on Monday. Haryana Steelers rose to fifth in the vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 standings after a 36-33 win over Bengal Warriors at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi on Monday. Vikash Kandola played a starring role in the win with 11 raid points and captain Dharmaraj Cheralathan also chipped in with four tackle points. Bengal Warriors got the scoreboard ticking but Haryana Steelers established early control thanks to a Super Raid by Vinay in the fourth minute. They weren’t on top for too long though as Bengal Warriors responded with a four-point Super Raid by K. Prapanjan three minutes later to alter the complexion of the contest. Bengal Warriors then drove home their advantage while on top and took a 14-10 lead after enforcing the first All-Out of the match with the first successful tackle of the game from either side. Both teams’ raiding units continued to dominate after the All-Out through a combination of smart raiding and lapses in defence. However, Haryana Steelers’ Kandola was the standout raider in the closing stages of the half as he almost singlehandedly wrestled back the lead for his team. Haryana Steelers ended the half with a 18-17 lead and had reduced Bengal Warriors to just two men on the mat. Kandola, meanwhile, finished the half on eight raid points and without being tackled even once. Kandola was at it again minutes after the restart and executed a successful raid to inflict the All-Out on Bengal Warriors and extend Haryana Steelers’ lead to 22-18. Kandola then completed his Super 10 – his fourth of the season – but Bengal Warriors’ talisman Maninder Singhcontinued to show resistance by consistently scoring raid points for his side and completed his Super 10 as well. Haryana Steelers went into the last 10 minutes of the encounter with their four-point lead intact, but the result was still very much in the balance. A couple of successful tackles and some assured raiding by Maninder added to the tension as Bengal Warriors further reduced the deficit to just two points with a little over five minutes left on the clock. A successful Do-or-die raid by Mohammad Nabibakhsh then cut Haryana Steelers’ lead to just a solitary point, however, a Super Tackle by their skipper Cheralathan turned the tide in favour of his team. Maninder and Bengal Warriors continued to fight till the end, but Haryana Steelers secured an important three-point victory.     Top Performers: Bengal Warriors – Best Raider – Maninder Singh (15 Raid Points) Best Defender – Jeeva Kumar (3 Tackle Points) Haryana Steelers – Best Raider – Vikash Kandola (11 Raid Points) Best Defender – Dharmaraj Cheralathan (4 Tackle Points) #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Dabang Delhi K.C. overcome Bengaluru Bulls to cement maiden final appearance Dabang Delhi K.C. sealed their spot in the Season 7 grand finale after a 44-38 win against Bengaluru Bulls. Dabang Delhi K.C. qualified for their first-ever vivo Pro Kabaddi final after a 44-38 win over Bengaluru Bulls at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Naveen Kumar scored 15 raid points for Dabang Delhi K.C. on the night, while Anil Kumar was their best defender with four Tackle Points. Dabang Delhi K.C. began the match on the front foot and, after some good raiding as well as defending, they went on to inflict an All Out in just the fourth minute to take a 9-3 lead. Bengaluru Bulls demonstrated some fight after the reset courtesy of their talisman Pawan Sehrawat. Some good work by the ‘Hi-Flyer’ helped reduce Dabang Delhi K.C.’s lead to just three points at one stage. However, Dabang Delhi K.C. regained control of the game after successfully tackling Sehrawat. They then enforced another All Out following good work on both ends of the mat to extend their advantage to 21-10. Dabang Delhi K.C seemed like they were about to enforce a third All Out before halftime, but some good defensive work, which included a Super Tackle by Saurabh Nandal, meant that Bengaluru Bulls went into the break trailing 26-18. The first point of the second period went to Dabang Delhi K.C. but Bengaluru Bulls responded with another Super Tackle; this time by Mahender Singh, which also revived Sehrawat. Back on the mat after a long duration on the bench, Sehrawat executed two successful raids to get his team within five points of Dabang Delhi K.C. A successful tackle by Chandran Ranjit on Sehrawat, though, stopped the reigning champions from building up a head of steam. The final quarter of the contest saw Dabang Delhi K.C. protect their lead in diligent fashion. Their defenders were alive and wary on court, while Naveen and Vijay ensured that they kept scoring raid points on a consistent basis, as Bengaluru Bulls succumbed to a third All Out with less than three minutes to play. Dabang Delhi K.C. then ran the clock down intelligently in the final few minutes and eventually registered a six-point victory. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Naveen stars again as Dabang Delhi K.C. outshine Telugu Titans Siddharth Desai’s Super 10 wasn’t enough for Telugu Titans as they went down to Dabang Delhi K.C., pillared by Naveen Kumar’s 14th successive Super 10 and a calculative defence, by a scoreline of 29-37 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi in Pune on Monday. Desai got Telugu Titans off the mark in the match and handed his team an early lead against the league toppers. It looked like Dabang Delhi K.C.’s offence would be contained on the night after Naveen was kept in check early in the game, that included a Super Tackle from Rakesh Gowda that kept Telugu Titans ahead. Naveen was the subject of another Super Tackle minutes later at the hands of Abozar Mighani that extended Telugu Titans’ advantage to four. But then Dabang Delhi. K.C. came together, led by a two-point raid from Naveen Kumar, and a solid combined defence that inflicted the first All Out of the match on Telugu Titans. The two teams then exchanged points leading up to the half - highlighted by another Naveen two-pointer, that included a bonus, and a Farhad Milaghardan raid that got Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal out - with the home team leading 18-15. At the restart, the two teams continued to play on par but Dabang Delhi K.C. edged further as the clock ticked away. With a combination of Naveen’s raids and timely contribution from the defence, Dabang Delhi K.C. scored seven unanswered points that saw Telugu Titans All Out for the second time in the match. The score now read 29-18 with Telugu Titans trailing by 11 points. When the players reassembled, Telugu Titans went on the attack and added three straight points - that included Desai’s two successful raids - and got the deficit down to eight. However, the gap didn’t reduce any further as Naveen’s opportune raids added to Dabang Delhi K.C.’s tally and ballooned the gap to 11 again at 35-24 with just five minutes left. Desai added a couple of successful raids and Vishal Bhadwaj managed two tackles, but the gap proved just too much as Telugu Titans went down by eight points.
