[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Haryana Steelers beat U Mumba to leapfrog them in standings Vikash Kandola’s 9 raid points helped Haryana Steelers overcome U Mumba 30-27. Haryana Steelers held their nerve through a close contest to register a narrow 30-27 win over U Mumba at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Vikash Kandola played a starring role for Haryana Steelers with 9 raid points, including a couple of crucial points in the closing stages of the contest. U Mumba started brightly thanks to an early tackle by Harendra Kumar that sent Haryana Steelers’ dangerman Kandola to the bench. Arjun Deshwal then got in on the action with a successful two-point raid. Haryana Steelers, though, fought back as Kandola returned to the mat and executed a Super Raid to put his side into a 5-4 lead. The Season 2 champions responded with a two-point raid by Athul MS to retake the lead as both sets of raiders dominated the first 10 minutes of the contest. Just as it looked like Haryana Steelers were edging towards inflicting an All-Out, U Mumba’s Sandeep Narwal came up with a Super Tackle. However, Sandeep’s contribution merely delayed the inevitable as Haryana Steelers went on to enforce an All-Out on U Mumba and take a 13-8 lead. The first half came to a close with Haryana Steelers very much on top as their defenders also began to grow into the contest. They took a 16-8 lead into the break and ensured that U Mumba would start the second half with just four men on court. Haryana Steelers began the second period looking to inflict a second All-Out on U Mumba. However, Fazel ‘Sultan’ Atrachali executed a Super Tackle to thwart Haryana Steelers’ momentum, while giving U Mumba fresh impetus. Atrachali’s tackle helped turn the tides of the contest in U Mumba’s favour, but Haryana Steelers executed successive Super Tackles to maintain their lead. A two-point raid in a Do-or-Die situation by Sandeep Narwal finally helped usher in an All-Out on Haryana Steelers with a little over four minutes left to play. Though the score was 26-23 in favour of Haryana Steelers after the All-Out, U Mumba had momentum on their side. A couple of successful raids by Abhishek Singhand one by Athul reduced the gap to one point. Kandola, though, showed tremendous resolve and continued to score raid points for Haryana Steelers to squash U Mumba’s chances of a comeback and give his side a slender three-point victory. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Abhishek Singh and a resilient defence star in U Mumba’s victory over Telugu Titans U Mumba’s corner duo of Fazel Atrachali and Sandeep Narwal combined for eight tackle points in an impressive display against Telugu Titans. An impressive display by the defence coupled with a Super 10 from raider Abhishek Singh helped U Mumba beat the Telugu Titans by a scoreline of 31-25 in the opening match of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 7 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday. U Mumba got off to a good start and took an early two-point lead, courtesy of a couple of tackle points from skipper Fazel Atrachali and a point each from raiders Athul MS and Abhishek Singh. However, all-rounder Farhad Milaghardan picked up a raid point and Telugu Titans captain Farhad Milaghardan scored a tackle point and brought parity to the scoreline at 4-4. But that proved to be a momentary respite, as U Mumba picked up eight of the next ten points, courtesy of a couple of two-point raids from Rohit Baliyan and Abhishek Singh, with the latter enforcing the season’s first All-Out on the home side, helping U Mumba take a 12-6 lead in the contest. The visitors continued their momentum post the All-Out, as raiders Athul and Singh added a point each to their tallies on the night and all-rounder Sandeep Narwal picked up two tackle points to give U Mumba a nine-point lead in the contest. Substitute raider and debutant Rakesh Gowda picked up his first-ever point in VIVO Pro Kabaddi with a Toe Touch on Singh and the two teams headed into the half-time break with U Mumba leading 17-9. After the restart, Rajnish kept the scoreboard ticking for Telugu Titans by picking up bonus points, but U Mumba raiders were dealing heavy damage with touch points of their own and reduced the home side down to three men within the first four minutes of the second half. Abhishek added two more touch points to his tally and U Mumba’s defence got rid of the last man to inflict a second All-Out on Telugu Titans, taking a 24-13 lead. Desai’s first two raid points of the night and some brilliant work from the defence helped the home team embark on a 6-2 run and bring themselves back into the contest, but two emphatic tackles from Atrachali snuffed out their momentum and restored an eight-point advantage for his team. Abhishek extended U Mumba’s lead with a two-point raid and in the process, also completed his Super 10, the third of his career. Telugu Titans finished the game strong and scored six straight points, but it was a little too late, as U Mumba held on and won by a scoreline of 31-25. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Sehrawat’s 39-point performance powers Bengaluru Bulls into the playoffs A raiding masterclass by Pawan Sehrawat helped Bengaluru Bulls register a 59-36 win over Haryana Steelers. ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat produced a performance to last the ages as Bengaluru Bulls booked their vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 playoffs spot with a 59-36 win over Haryana Steelers at the Tau Devilal Sports Complex in Panchkula on Wednesday. Sehrawat finished the match with a mind-boggling 39 raid points – the most by any player in league history. Bengaluru Bulls started the match well and were in the lead during the early stages. The momentum though shifted very quickly in favour of the home side after Prashanth Kumar Rai and talisman Vikash Kandola found their rhythm in attack. The duo of Rai and Kandola pulled off clinical raids in quick succession to help their side inflict an All-Out in the eight minute and take a 11-5 lead. However, the defending champions came storming back into the contest thanks to penetrative raiding by Sehrawat as well as solid defending. They then enforced an All-Out with less than seven minutes left in the half to move into a 16-15 lead. Sehrawat continued to trouble Haryana Steelers’ defenders after the reset and picked them apart one at a time as Bengaluru Bulls soon enforced another All-Out to extend their lead to 26-17. In keeping with the theme of the half, Sehrawat ended the opening period with a point and the record for most points by a raider in the first half as Bengaluru Bulls went into the break with a 28-18 lead. The first point of the second period was predictably a Sehrawat raid point, while Rai scored Haryana Steelers’ opening points of the half. Containing Sehrawat, however, was proving to be an unsolvable puzzle for Haryana Steelers as they struggled to come up with any answer for the ‘Hi-Flyer’. A three-point raid by him helped usher in another All-Out on Haryana Steelers with seven and a half minutes left. Sehrawat went on to pass ‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal’s record for most raid points in a match in the closing stages of the encounter as the spectators looked on in awe. The defending champions enforced a fourth All-Out with a little over two minutes left on the clock, while Sehrawat continued to score raid points effortlessly till the final whistle as Bengaluru Bulls registered a comfortable win to seal their playoffs berth. Top Performers: Haryana Steelers – Best Raider – Prashanth Kumar Rai (17 Raid Points) Best Defender – Ravi Kumar (1 Tackle Point) Bengaluru Bulls – Best Raider – Pawan Sehrawat (39 Raid Points) Best Defender – Mahender Singh (4 Tackle Points) #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com
