[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] U Mumba’s strong second-half display helps them overcome Tamil Thalaivas Tamil Thalaivas finished their home leg winless after a 24-29 loss to U Mumba in their final match at Chennai. U Mumba ensured that Tamil Thalaivas finished their vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 home leg without a win by registering a 29-24 victory over the hosts at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Athul MS was the leading scorer in the match with seven raid points and he played a big role in U Mumba’s second-half fightback. Tamil Thalaivas began the match positively and raced into a 4-1 lead after four minutes with ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari scoring three raid points, including a two-point raid. U Mumba gradually grew into the contest with some strong tackling and tied the score at 5-5 after the opening 10 minutes. However, Tamil Thalaivas soon reestablished their lead thanks to a couple of successive raids from ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur. He received support from Chaudhari, who picked up another two-point raid to extend the home side’s lead to 9-6. With halftime approaching, it looked like Tamil Thalaivas would inflict an All-Out. But a Super Tackle by Harendra Kumar on Chaudhari denied Tamil Thalaivas the All-Out and helped U Mumba reduce their deficit to 10-12 at the break. V. Ajith Kumar began the second half with a successful raid for the hosts only for Sandeep Narwal to respond with a two-point raid for U Mumba. The visitors moved into the lead five minutes into the second period after a two-point raid by Athul MS made it 15-14 in U Mumba’s favour. Things would get better for U Mumba soon after courtesy of another two-point raid by Athul that enforced an All-Out on Tamil Thalaivas. With momentum now on their side, U Mumba looked to build on their lead. However, Tamil Thalaivas weren’t prepared to let U Mumba dictate terms and clawed their way back into the contest with some decisive defending and swift raiding. A successful Do-or-Die raid by Chaudhari with a little less than six minutes to play saw Tamil Thalaivas cut U Mumba’s lead to just three points. A successful raid by Sandeep Narwal as well as successful tackles by Rajaguru Subramanian and Harendra soon after halted Tamil Thalaivas’ momentum. The hosts fought valiantly till the end, but U Mumba kept their discipline and defended resolutely to see off Tamil Thalaivas’ charge for a five-point win. Jaipur Pink Panthers held on to their slender first-half lead to see off a spirited Tamil Thalaivasfight back and register a 28-26 victory at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. But Tamil Thalaivas were equal to the task and managed to equalise at 6-6 through ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur and ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari. Jaipur Pink Panthers managed a Super Tackle on each of the Tamil Thalaivas’ star raiders in quick succession to stay ahead. Deepak Narwal then came off the bench and put in three back-to-back successful raids. The second half saw Jaipur Pink Panthers extend their lead through Deepak Hooda’s two-point raid and Pavan TR’s Super Tackle on Thakur. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Jaipur snatch victory from Bengal’s grasp by 27-25 The TOUGHEST MOMENT OF THE MATCH – the 40th minute when Sandeep Dhull caught Baldev Singh to flip the tables in Jaipur’s favour. After destroying their respective opponents in their first match of the season, Jaipur and Bengal go head-to-head in Mumbai on the first match of the leg. Both the teams were backing themselves after such strong performances against U Mumba and UP Yoddha respectively. This match saw many players reach their milestones; Maninder Singh got his 450th raid point while Sandeep Dhull got his 50th tackle point. K Prapanjan from Bengal Warriors was effective in the first half but Sandeep Dhull from Jaipur Pink Panthers (JPP) made sure that he was nullified in the second half. The strong tackle on Baldev Singh in the last minute confirmed that Jaipur could inflict an All Out for Bengal. This match was started by Bengal Warriors taking the command in the early minutes of the match when Rinku Narwal took on a Nilesh Salunke (JPP) who looked like he was relaxing in the opponents side as the scorecard read 0-4. K Prapanjan made his mark in the match by constantly summing up a touch point through his raids which saw him get 6 raid points in his 9 raids in the first half. It was a close game until Baldev Singh pranced on another napping Jaipur raider, this time the substitute Ajinkya Pawar took a 4-point lead for Bengal Warriors.  Baldev again struck on Jaipur when he brought a flying Deepak Narwal down to the ground in the 18th minute. Bengal Warriors made a smart move when they forced Jaipur to play through their Do-or-Die Raid in the last raid of the half which helped them get an extra point when Ajinkya Pawar’s dangling hand couldn’t cross the mid-line. The half ended with the score being 10-14. The second half saw a different Jaipur Pink Panthers enter the match as they tried to get back from the slump.  They got really close to Bengal Warriors when Ajinkya Pawar entered the lobby and Rinku Narwal also entered the lobby with Mohammad Nabibaksh to take the technical points in the 25th minute to make it 15-16. Maninder Singh made sure that this didn’t affect Bengal Warriors much as he got rid of the captain Deepak Hooda in the very next raid in addition to a bonus point. Sandeep Dhull made efforts to keep Jaipur in the game with constant tackle points as confirmed by his tackle on K Prapanjan’s dubki. He got his 50th tackle point in the 34th minute of the match. Bengal Warriors continued to gain points as Jaipur Pink Panthers couldn’t increase their score with a strong Super Tackle effort on Deepak Hooda in the 37th minute by Baldev Singh from behind his back. Mohammad Taghi’s late entry in the 39th minute caused Jaipur the advantage to bounce back in the dying moments of the match. With an All-out being inflicted by Jaipur Pink Panthers in the 40th minute to snatch the lead, it was all dependent on Maninder Singh to get a quick point. Deepak Hooda had a different plan as he finally got a point to confirm Jaipur’s victory over Bengal by 27-25. #VIVOProKabaddi #PKLhighlights #PKL2019 #IsseToughKuchNahi http://www.khelnow.com http://www.khelnowtv.com

[Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Iceman’s successful buzzer raid helps Tamil Thalaivas tie with U.P. Yoddha U.P. Yoddha and Tamil Thalaivas were involved in a see-saw encounter that ended in a 28-28 tie at the Patliputra Indoor Stadium in Patna on Wednesday. Ajay ‘Iceman’ Thakur lived up to his name and scored in the crucial buzzer raid to help his side tie the match. The contest began with Tamil Thalaivas getting on the scoreboard first, but U.P. Yoddha didn’t have to wait for too long for their opening point either. Both teams looked to stay within touching distance of each other and were tied at 3-3 after the first five minutes. U.P. Yoddha then went on to assume control of the match soon after courtesy of a few successful raids by Shrikant Jadhav and Monu Goyat as well as a couple of successful tackles. U.P. Yoddha’s charge resulted in the first All-Out of the match on Tamil Thalaivas and gave them a 10-5 lead over the southerners. Tamil Thalaivas fought back and chipped away at U.P. Yoddha’s lead thanks to robust tackles from Manjeet Chhillar and swift raids from Rahul ‘Showman’ Chaudhari. That said, U.P. Yoddha’s defence also held firm and ensured that they kept their five-point lead intact as they went into the break with a 16-11 lead. The second half got underway with Thakur turning on the style. The Tamil Thalaivas captain scored three raid points from his first two raids of the half to reduce U.P. Yoddha’s lead to 16-15. However, U.P. Yoddha weren’t prepared to succumb to an All-Out without a fight despite having less players on the mat. They defended in resolute fashion and made it difficult for Tamil Thalaivas to enforce the decisive All-Out. Successive Super Tackles, in fact, opened up a 23-17 lead for U.P. Yoddha at one stage. However, a successful two-point raid by Shabeer Bapu and another Manjeet tackle finally inflicted the All-Out on U.P. Yoddha and tied the score at 23-23 with a little over eight minutes to play. U.P. Yoddha responded with successful raids from Rishank Devadiga and Monu, but Tamil Thalaivas weren’t prepared to allow them to reestablish their lead. Successful raids by Chaudhari and Bappu cancelled out the raid points from their counterparts and set up a nervy finish with the score tied at 26-26 with three minutes left in the game. In the end, neither team could emerge victorious after Thakur picked up a touch point on the buzzer raid as both teams shared the spoils. Top Performers: U.P. [Video Courtesy: Star Sports] Pawan Sehrawat and Nandal star as Bengaluru Bulls win on opening night in Chennai ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat scored his fifth Super 10 while Saurabh Nandal scored his second High 5 of the season in their team’s win. A fifth Super 10 of the season from ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat and a second career High 5 from Saurabh Nandal helped Bengaluru Bullscurb their two-match losing streak and beat Tamil Thalaivas by a scoreline of 32-21 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. Sehrawat was off to an unbelievable start as he scored a point in all but two of his first seven raid attempts. The Bengaluru Bulls defence, too, starved Tamil Thalaivas’ offence for points and tackled Ajay Thakur and Shabeer Bappu as the visitors raced off to a 7-0 start. The last man on the mat for Tamil Thalaivas, Manjeet Chhillar, went in to raid and picked up a bonus to get his team off the mark, but he too was tackled as the reigning champions inflicted an All-Out in just under seven minutes. The home side fared much better after reassembling on the mat and outscored Bengaluru Bulls 5-2 over the next five minutes to cut their deficit to seven. Shabeer’s two-point raid and Thakur’s touch point on Nandal got the momentum on Tamil Thalaivas’ side. But three unanswered points from Bengaluru Bulls put them back up by eight points. Tamil Thalaivas added two more points to their score while allowing the visitors just one as the teams headed into the half-time break with Bengaluru Bulls leading 17-10. After a cagey seven minutes in the second period, V Ajith Kumar’s touch point, followed by a Ran Singh tackle on Rohit Kumar, saw Tamil Thalaivas cut the deficit down to just four points. Thakur and Mohit Chhillar then added two more points to their team’s score to reduce Bengaluru Bulls down to just two. But the Season 6 champions responded with a Super Tackle followed by a two-point raid by Ankit, which extended their lead back up to six. Nandal’s tackle on Ajith Kumar not only gave him his High 5 but also reduced Tamil Thalaivas down to three men on the mat. Two more raid points from Sehrawat and a self-out from Ran Singh helped Bengaluru Bulls inflict an All-Out and take an 11-point lead. Both teams added a couple of points to their score over the final three minutes of the contest as Bengaluru Bulls emerged victors by 11 points. Tamil Thalaivas Vs Puneri Paltan Pro Kabaddi Highlights 2019 PKL 2019 18 August English

by Sportskeeda ...

Home team Tamil Thalaivas and Puneri Paltan played out a highly entertaining 31-31 draw in a see-sawing second match of VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 7 at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Youngsters Ajeet and Manjeet were the stars for Thalaivas and Paltan respectively in a match that had been billed as a clash of the Kabaddi stalwarts. Rahul Chaudhari, Ajay Thakur and Mohit Chhillar are all Kabaddi royalty for a reason, and it was hardly a surprise when Tamil Thaliavas made a dominant start to the match on their home mat. The early strategy from the home team and coach E Bhaskaran was clearly to use Rahul Chaudhari in the raids and preserve Ajay Thakur for the latter stages. But the plan backfired as the Paltan defence held firm and troubled the Tamil raiders. Pankaj Mohite was once again the best raider on the mat for Pune as the team inflicted the first all-out on the Thalaivas with nine minutes remaining till half time. The Chennai-based team started confidently after the reset though, with Rahul Chaudhari and local-boy Ajeet dominating the raids. The first half ended 15-13 in favour of Puneri Paltan. Thalaivas’ defence had a better game plan in the second half, and Ran Singh’s consistent, successful tackles turned things around for the Chennai team, clinching their first all-out within two minutes after the restart. Defender Girish Ernak had an uncharacteristically poor game in the night and was the target for the Tamil raiders while Manjeet’s all-round efforts for Paltan kept the battle neck-to-neck. Hadi Tajik’s tackle with just under five minutes remaining took out Rahul Chaudhari but Ajith restored parity with a brilliant follow-up raid, sending Girish Ernak to the dugout in the process. Pankaj Mohite, playing his first Pro Kabaddi season, defied his experience, to push his side ahead with little over three minutes remaining and reducing the Thailavas on the mat to one. But Ajith, who was the last man standing, had other plans, securing four points in a Super Raid, with slightly over two minutes remaining in the encounter, to tilt the balance once again in Thalaivas’ favour. But both Rahul Chaudhari for Thalaivas and Manjeet for Paltan failed in their attempts at Do-or-Die raids in the final minute which saw the sides settling for a draw.
