Hey. My name’s Maya and I want to tell you about the time I made the biggest mistake of my life.

My dad died when I was little. And it took my mom years to start dating again. She said that I was all she needed to be happy, but I always knew life would be better for her if she had a boyfriend.
That’s why I was stoked when she started dating Aaron. He treated my mom the way she deserved and always bought her flowers and took her out to dinner. You can’t imagine how excited I was when he proposed and my mom said yes. I mean, I loved being a bridesmaid and I’ll never forget how beautiful my mom looked on her wedding day.

But there was one problem though: Aaron’s son, Jared.
He was so freaking gorgeous, it was as if he just came out of a movie.

And Jared wasn’t just good looking, he was also a really nice person. And even though he was a couple years older than me, he’d always say hi to me at school and carry my books when we walked home together.

In fact, Jared was that guy, you know, the one boy in school everyone likes. That’s why, after me and my mom moved in to his house, all my friends got super jealous of me because I got to hang out with him all the time.

My 2 best friends even tried to contact him on Facebook, but he just completely ignored them.

So… of course I had a huge crush on him. I mean… who wouldn’t?
But after a while, I began to think that he felt the same way about me. I mean, there was no other reason why he’d be so nice to me.
But if he liked me, why wouldn’t he tell me so?
Well… I thought he was just too shy, and that’s why I decided to make the first move.

I waited until our parents left the house to go on a date-night and then I asked Jared if he wanted to watch a movie with me. He said yes and we made some popcorn and sat down on the coach together.
I don’t remember what movie we watched but as we ate the popcorn, our hands kept touching each other and… I knew I had to do something.

So, I just turned to him and kissed him.

I can still remember his face and how shocked he looked. He immediately pushed me away, telling me to get off. And when I tried to explain that I thought he liked me, he laughed and said I was just a silly little girl. He also said he’d only been nice to me because his dad asked him to, but he’d never be interested in a 14 year old girl like me.

I didn’t know what to say so I just started crying and ran to my room. I’ve never felt more ashamed in my life and I felt like I had ruined everything.

Luckily for me, Jared didn’t tell anyone what I’d done, but still… things were never the same between us. When we were on our own in the house, we both stayed in our rooms avoiding each other and he even stopped saying hi to me at school.

The worst part was that we lived in the same house, so I couldn’t just avoid him. That’s why every time I saw him, I remembered what an idiot I’d been.

I wish I’d never tried to kiss my own stepbrother.

My life has been divided between two houses, but I never thought I would become an employee in one of them. And this fact makes me feel constantly exhausted. My parents have been divorced for a long time. Me and my older sister stayed with my mom based on the court's decision, but my dad was also allowed to spend a lot of time with both of us. That’s why we used to spend, like half of our weekends and holidays at my dad’s place. I love both of my parents equally, but honestly speaking my dad’s temper is pretty terrible. Sometimes we'd have days where he would just yell and punish me and my sister whenever we did the littlest thing wrong. I will give you a vivid example. Once we were spending Halloween with my dad. We had been working on making our costumes for an entire day and had gotten really hungry. There was almost nothing in the fridge and my sister Annie decided she wanted to order a pizza. She asked dad if that was OK, but he said no for no actual reason. He suggested that we cook something on our own, but we didn’t want to and we were really in the mood for pizza, especially since it was a holiday. Dad went crazy. He yelled at us and locked us in our room with no actual dinner and, of course, with no trick or treating. So, we stayed hungry and totally upset until the next day. Since then neither I nor Annie were big fans of Halloween any longer. Dad was not always that bad, but since Annie is 5 years older than me, she would be punished more often. At some point, when she got big enough, she said that wanted to live with my mom permanently and no longer visit our dad. But I couldn’t do the same, and I probably didn’t want to. Days at dad’s house started to be even less fun without Annie. I mean, I had some friends from the neighboring houses there, but I was not supposed to play with them all day long, because dad would say he wanted to spend some time with me. But we'd usually ended up watching sports on TV while he was trying to teach me about different teams and coaches and players and stuff. I can’t say that I was totally unhappy because I still had my dad next to me in my life. Then my dad married Julia. She was not bad, actually, but we barely interacted with each other, because she was pretty busy with all of her trips to the beauty salon, yoga classes, and Zumba dancing. A few months later my dad called me into the room and said that my step-mom was pregnant and that I was going to have a little brother or sister. That was great news for me, because I always wanted to have a younger sibling. I was really excited about that and even promised that I'd take care of the baby when he or she was born. What made me speak up, I still have no idea!? Now, with a new wife and a baby on the way dad was working all day long, even while I was visiting him. That’s when Julia would start to watch me while he was at work. Her pregnancy made her really big, so I had to help her with cooking, dishwashing, house cleaning, and other stuff. At first I thought that it was really hard for her to do all the housework, but then I realized that she was just using me so that she could chat with her friends or read some parenting magazines in her room while I was slaving away downstairs. I tried to complain to my dad about the situation, but he was totally on Julia’s side. He’d even take away my phone so that nothing would disturb me from being her assistant. Things didn’t changed much when my little brother was born. Except that now in addition from cooking, cleaning, shopping, and bringing groceries up the stairs for my step-mom, I also had to babysit my baby brother while she was resting. I literally felt deprived and had zero fun that summer. The final straw came when my dad took me out to eat and invited me to come to live with him and Julia permanently. You know, I can’t say that I was surprised, because a couple of times I remembered Julia telling him that she couldn’t live without my help when I’d go back home. And now, if I lived with them, dad wouldn’t have to pay my mom any child support and he would get free labor. I was confused and promised to think over his suggestion. I just couldn’t refuse him right there, face-to-face, because he’d probably get mad at me and I didn’t want to piss him off. Besides, I got into really deep thought about my little brother and I was afraid that my dad’s bad temper would ruin our times together. So, you know, having to think about all these things was tearing me apart inside. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened

My Dad Hates My Boyfriend
My Dad Hates My Boyfriend

Do you have a story? Please send it to: [email protected] I had my first boyfriend when I was 17. His name was Michael and he was sort of the complete opposite of me. While I was working hard to get good grades, he didn't care about school at all. He was pretty smart though, much smarter than me. Whenever I was with him, he made me feel safe. Like there was one time when we were at a train station late at night and 2 bad looking guys came over to us. I was so scared, but Michael stayed cool and just talked to them until they were all laughing. I never saw him nervous or afraid. He was always charming and confident. That's why so many girls in my school were after him. When I finally invited him over for dinner with my parents, I was really nervous because I knew he wasn't the kind of guy my parents would like. I asked Michael to behave and be polite, but when he arrived he was making jokes and just having fun like always. I suppose he was just being himself and he did make me and my mom laugh a lot. I could tell my dad felt disrespected though. He started to ask questions like "how is school going? Do you have any plans for your future?" Michael didn't even try to impress my dad. He said he planned on becoming a rock star. We all kinda knew he was just joking, but dad didn’t find it funny. At the same time, he was very charming with mom and complimented her a ton. Mom really liked him and that made my dad even angrier. I know it sounds weird, but the more Michael acted like a bad boy, the more I was attracted to him. When he left, my dad turned to me and said he forbade me to see him again. I thought he was just saying it in the heat of the moment, so I didn't think much about it. But when I tried to go out to meet Michael the next day, dad locked the door and said I wasn't allowed to go out after school until I turned 18. He said I had to focus on my studies, not go out with some boy. My 18th birthday was still 6 months away. It was so unfair. I hadn't done anything wrong. So I decided to sneak out anyway. After I left, I sent dad a text to tell him I’d be back at 8 and not to worry. My date with Michael was fun and he was really understanding when I said I had to go home, but I was really nervous when I came back home. Dad was already waiting for me and I was expecting him to start yelling, but to my surprise, he apologised. He said he’d been wrong to try and ban me from seeing Michael and I was old enough to decide for myself who I dated. He finished by warning me to be careful though. I hugged him and told him he was the best dad in the world. Now I knew dad was okay about me seeing Michael, so we carried on dating, but over the next few months, I started to notice things I just couldn't accept. For example, one time he laughed when he saw a homeless person slip on ice. Another time we accidentally left a restaurant without paying. I knew the waitress would have to pay for our food out of her own money, but he refused to go back and pay, saying we deserved a free meal, so I had to go back and do it for him. The most irresponsible thing he did though was to get a dog even though he didn't have enough time to walk him or even enough money to buy him proper dog food, instead, he just threw the dog out in the yard to walk himself and fed him scraps of his own food. The poor dog was so skinny you could see his ribs. That's when I realised that Michael was sort of a jerk. He was irresponsible and didn't seem to care about other people or animals. I finally decided to break up with him. Dad was right. I deserved better. Luckily, there was no big fight. Michael seemed a bit sur prised but didn't seem to mind either, so I asked if I could adopt his dog. To my relief, he said yes. So even though I don't have a boyfriend anymore, our family has a new member and dad also seems quite happy to have me back!

Comment, like, share this story. Zarina and her best friend Alicia were just hanging out on a Summer day, just before school started. Typical teenage girls, they were busy on snapchat. Zarina was particularly interested in this one boy - a hockey player - and she had a huge crush on him. Of all the boys in her school, he was her favorite, her school crush. She thought he was so sweet, and cute - first love. And, to make things more complicated, they were kind of friends, helping each other with homework sometimes and sitting together at lunch. More than anything, she wanted them to be boyfriend and girlfriend, a couple. Alicia leaned over and saw his snapchat on Zarina's phone and came up with the bright idea of confessing her crush to him. At first Zarina said "no way," she was scared of getting rejected, scared that he would tell her that they were just friends and she would die of embarrassment. A confession could be an epic fail. But Alicia was very convincing - and, finally, convinced Zarina to do it! Zarina was so nervous that Alicia finally grabbed the phone and started texting for her. She wrote a long text "I've liked you for a really long time now, and hopefully we can get together..." a real confession of love! At the end she wrote, "But it's okay if you don't like me," and Zarina jumped out to grab the phone - "WAIT! Before you send it I want to read it" - but it was too late. Alicia had sent the message. Zarina freaked out! She was hyperventilating - all of her massive second thoughts were too late! She spent the next two hours panicking - staring at the phone - waiting for a reply, anything. Suddenly, her phone chirped that there was a response! Zarina snatched up the phone but couldn't bring herself to read what he had written. She wanted to know, but she also didn't want to know - not if it was terrible news, not if confessing her love to her crush made things awkward and with the whole "let's just be friends" thing - she couldn't handle that! So, Alicia grabbed the phone and told Zarina that she would read it first and let her know if it was good or not good. That sounded like a plan. Alicia opened the snap and Zarina hid in a bush, too nervous to know what to do, but also excited. After a minute Alicia looked up with a sad face - NOT GOOD - and all she said was "Girl, I'm really sorry." Fail! At first Zarina thought she was joking, which would be in character for Alicia, and so Zarina said "Okay, c'mon. What does it say." And so Alicia read it out loud: he didn't like her the same way - DID NOT - and then he said it, the friend thing - Zarina was heart broken. She wanted to undo the whole thing so badly - wished she hadn't done it. She had to answer him, so she said it was no problem, but inside she was a mess, crying. She was so embarrassed. In fact it was one of the most embarrassing moments of her life, an embarrassing fail. And lets face it, embarrassing fails are not something we will ever forget. And this embarrassing story was no exception. After school started they weren't awkward together, and they still talk and hang out sometimes, but, she still wishes that he had returned the crush, and honestly, she still has a major crush on him! My Rich Parents Lost All Their Money
My Rich Parents Lost All Their Money

by Share My Sto...

Hey there, this is my story of growing up rich and losing it all. When I was a little kid, life was easy. We had 2 maids and they bought me whatever toy I wanted. So I never had to wait for my birthday or Christmas. I also went to an expensive school, but I never did any homework, because my dad had hired a tutor who did all the work for me. Yeah, okay, I was spoiled, but I was an only child and my parents had the money, so why wouldn’t they spend it on me, right? Well, today I wish my parents had been stricter. Maybe then I would have been prepared for what happened next. You see, my Dad had made lots of money from his own company. He had built it up from nothing and became a millionaire. But then something went wrong and the government shut his whole company down. We lost everything and had to move out of our beautiful home and into a small apartment. Luckily, we weren’t homeless, but still… life became very hard overnight. While my parents were struggling to find jobs, I was struggling with the most basic things like getting myself ready for school. No one was helping me. And when my mom told me to take the school bus, I freaked out and screamed at her that she should drive me to school. But my mom was so stressed that she yelled at me: ‘shut up and stop annoying me.’ I was shocked and got even more angry because no one had ever talked to me like that before. After a few weeks, I switched from my private school to a public school and things were very different. The food tasted horrible and most of the teachers couldn’t remember my name. I also got some pretty bad grades, and instead of helping me, my parents just called me lazy. That’s when I realised that I had to learn to depend on myself. Even though those were the toughest years of my life, I'm grateful for the experience now. And luckily, things got easier after my dad had a promotion at work. My mom stopped cleaning houses and I got a new tutor. Her name was Isabelle and she always made sure I did my homework. And when I started doing my own homework, I discovered that I loved math and that I’m really good at it! You can’t imagine how excited I was, to show my dad my A- math exam. He said that he had never been more proud of me and hung it right onto the refrigerator. Recently, I met up with some of my old friends from before. And I realised how spoiled they were. One of them complained how her father refused to buy her a new designer bag, even though she already had so many of them. To me it seemed ridiculous to complain about something so unimportant and stupid. But maybe I would have been just like her if my parents hadn't lost it all. Now I'm at college studying engineering while also working at a clothing store 5 days a week to help pay my tuition. I’m always tired, but I don't wanna complain because I know that many people have it much, much harder. It sounds strange, but I'm kinda glad my parents went broke. It forced me to work hard, overcome challenges and appreciate what I have. I’m a useful person now, and not just some an entitled leech.

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j This is Evan and right now, everything in his life is falling apart. His family, his studies, everything...and all of it happened just because he helped his father at his work. He wishes now that he could just travel back in time or erase what he found out about him from his memory. It was hard to find anyone who didn’t admire Evan’s father. Everyone did. His mother, Evan himself, his colleagues and partners. You see, he was a rich businessman with his own company. But he started from NOTHING. So of course, it’s hard NOT to admire a man who achieved everything on his own and still managed to be a loving husband and father. And he totally wanted to be like him. Evan didn’t want to take what he had for granted; he wanted to be as hard-working as his dad was. And his parents knew this. So his mom came up with the idea of asking his dad to let him be an unpaid intern at his company during the summer, to learn the ropes. Evan loved the idea, and he thought his dad would love it too. But he turned out to be so...hesitant about it. Like, he said that he wasn’t sure if Evan would be needed there and said that he should enjoy his life while he’s still young. Anyway, he and his mom finally persuaded his dad to let him be an intern, and he worked very hard to help with everything he could. And soon, everyone at the office started to like him so much, saying how much he resembled his father with his industriousness. And he could see that his father was very proud of him. “I passed the test!” he thought to himself, and it made him work even harder. He knew that he was working for his own future. But...soon something happened. You see, his father was very strict about separating his career and his personal life. He would never talk about his work while at home, because he was fully concentrating on his family, being a perfect father and a perfect husband. One day his father went out to some meeting, and he was supposed to take Evan home that day. Evan thought he was busy, so he decided to just wait for him in his office, since it was unlocked and he had been in there many times before. While he was waiting there, the phone rang. It was in his desk drawer, so he decided to ignore it. But it kept calling again and again, like every 3 minutes, and he got tired of it, so he decided to answer and to say that his dad was away, thinking that maybe it was his mom. He opened the drawer and looked at the phone, and it was...weird. You see, his father had two phones. One was his personal phone, and the other his work phone. And this phone...well, Evan had never seen that one before. He answered the phone and a woman’s voice said: “Hey...want to come over today, darling?” He quickly turned the phone off. It wasn’t his mom. He didn’t know what to do or think, so he just left the office and never came back. His mom tried to ask him what had happened, but he just couldn’t tell her. And he knew that his father knew, but he just acted like nothing happened. That was the reason he hadn’t wanted him to work for him… From that point on Evan avoided his parents as much as he could, because it was too painful for him to see them talking to each other and smiling. And he couldn’t just tell his mom, because he had found out about it by snooping around. He started to hate his dad, and even his mom for not seeing what was happening. One day, Evan’s mom confronted him for avoiding them and spending a lot of time out of the house. She probably thought that he’d picked up bad habits or something. He tried to explain, but she was worried about him, and started to check his bags and everything else for things like cigarettes. His dad just kept silent, because he knew what was really happening and why Evan was acting that way. But he didn’t say anything, and Evan could feel his respect for him dwindling away completely. He was so angry, so one day he just said: “ask DAD what's going on.” There was silence for a long time. Then they left and went into their room, and he had to listen to them shouting at each other for the whole night. And it was his fault, of course...was it bad that they were living a lie if they were happy? Then they tried to act normal, like nothing happened, but he saw how everything had changed. After a few months, his mom said that they were getting a divorce, and she didn’t really explain, because she knew that he knew. Now they live separately, and Evan lives with his mom, and she’s very unhappy. His dad called him recently and told him that he’d done the right thing by telling her the truth. He also said that he couldn’t work normally after the divorce and that he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to keep the company. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com #actuallyhappened
